Dude, my Dad had small spots of skin cancer, his dermatologist took it out with laser using only local numbing, took less than an hour and his skin has no scars. Don't mess with things that can ruin your health, the solution is much simpler than it looks!

Yes, skin cancer is one of the most treatable! I went to check out a mole and it ended up being ok, but you don’t even have to really worry about cancer medicines like chemo if you’re good about getting lesions checked when they appear. My appointment was super relaxed, we even got some acne treatment done too.

I totally got that vibe from the photo of her smiling while showing the damage she did to her face. I hope she learns from her mistakes but I do find it a tad ironic that she initially wouldn’t get treatment for cancer but would get major surgery to reverse the damage she inflicted on herself

It was stupid BUT in her case it appears to have worked. The treatment for skin cancer is generally to just cut it out, black salve does sort of the same but in an uncontrolled way. And you won't know if you got all the cancer, so if you miss a cancer cell or two... oops. Or you could kill more tissue than would have been required, though that wouldd probably the lesser evil. If you're really unlucky, it's both.

I belong to a anti woo group where a woman just removed a small skin cancer on her nose with black salve and not only did she completely remove part of her nostril she also ate away everything into her sinuses on that side. A tiny scar was bad to her but a open sinus cavity is fine😖. In the BS support group she is in the other members(this is not the anti woo group)they are telling her it will all grow back but without the cancer.

instead, she slathered a toxic, non specified compound on her nose, that eat away her skin and cartilage.
so then she proceeded to have a way more invasive kind of surgery (and most likely more than one session) to correct the mess she made in order to avoid surgery.

People entering the medical industry these days are taught to practice holistic medicine. We're told to only discourage alternative treatments that will conflict with the doctor-recommended method, or ones that are high risk.
The placebo effect is real, and even without it, the only reason we'd have to discourage safe alternative medicine in conjunction with treatment is to save the patient money and time. But we're not accountants or bankers. It's their money and time, they should spend it how they want.

Unfortunately, the cances had metastasised at that point, so she only lived for another 12 years, with various forms of cancer. She said one should not ignore medical issues. Current standards of BC treatment are severely inconsiderate and lacking in innovation. Women are treated like chattel and lied to while men get to make the truly informed decisions meaning they are informed of ALL the risk before consenting to medical treatment of relevant cancers. The information out there is really disturbing and I totally understand how someone might look for better solutions in alternative medicine. If women had better options and treated with respect by modern Healthcare fewer of them would die.

I used to work for an herbalist and we had a similar philosophy. If you have a headache or a mild fever or a cold sure we'd give you some willow bark extract or elderflower or yarrow or whatever. But when it came to things like cancer or other similarly deadly illnesses we'd be like "go to a flipping oncologist" Sure we'll make tinctures to help with pain, appetite stimulation, immune support, etc. but by the time something like cancer has happened, the systems are broken down beyond the ability of our methods to repair. We can help, but they need allopathic medicine at that point.

I belonged to a group on Facebook that one of the rules was, you could not recommend someone see a doctor! I did not last long, especially after someone had gotten a cut on their hand that developed a serious infection. The whole hand was swollen, red, weeping pus. The people that went ahead and said you need the ER, you need a doctor, got attacked, then booted. These people are willing to DIE rather than see a doctor. Granted, I had something similar, but FAR less advanced, when I was a kid, my mother put an epsom salt pack on it (basically a poultice), wrapped it up, and kept an eye on it, since a red streak had started travelling from my hand. Did the job, but she was making sure it did, or we'd have...now keep in mind, this is apparently a novel idea...WENT TO THE FREAKING DOCTOR! Few years later, did it again when a blister on my foot got infected (stupid summer sandals). Home remedies have their place, but there is a point at which you have to actually see a medical professional. Maybe the ease at which I'd get infections should have been a clue that my immune system was screwed.

So 21 yrs ago I had a raised mole on my neck. My mail lady gave me the black salve. I put the microscopic dot from a toothpick on it. Cover w bandaid. Next day it flattened it and turned it white looking like a cauliflower another dot of toothpick cover. The next day it stuck to bandaid and my daughter tried to peel it off when she did it pulled it out the size of quarter BUT it made a hole through all layers of skin. Down to muscle in neck. It looked so bad I went to PA he put a crème on it, gave me antibiotics for 7 days. I put that crème on and luckily took away all the bloody hole. I have a quarter size scar on my neck but at least I DIDNT DIE FROM A MAJOR INFECTION IN MY BLOOD OR TISSUE. Literally I only put dot from tip of toothpick and it created all that damage. Its a bit like getting a cavity removed and will leave a visible hole that will be closed with reconstructive surgery , usually shifting tissue in a small “skin flap” or with a graft. It can also just closed with stitches depending on the shape. It leaves a scar behind but it’s very possible to get work done on the scar later on. Magical thinking probably made her believe that she could control the product to remove a much smaller portion than all the people reporting disfigurement online.

I think this is partly an indictment of our health care system where life saving treatment is insanely expensive even with insurance. People are willing to try anything at home and it's the systems fault not theirs.

But you also have to look at groups like all those farmers who are stubbornly “self-sufficient” or people who sweat by essential oils. It’s not that they can’t pay for medical care, it’s that they truly believe that they don’t NEED doctors and can take care of these things on their own. It’s self-enforced ignorance. Now, I wouldn’t be surprised if the high cost of medical care was a factor in breeding these sorts of anti-doctor beliefs, but I still think foolishness is a much larger factor. We have the internet nowadays; it’s so easy to look up things like black salve and see the negative side effects. But people like this woman either don’t believe that it could be that bad or don’t look it up in the first place.

However I absolutely believe it is down to the healthcare system in the US being overpriced and inaccessible. There is a lot of poverty in the US. Even the poorest of the poor can seek medical attention in the UK, I’ve seen that because the healthcare here is so easily accessible, even those who swear by holistic methods will consult with their doctor for all the possible options because they have nothing to lose. Whereas in a country where a bill is handed to you after a simple routine check up or ambulance pick up you would think twice before calling a doctor and be more inclined to search for alternatives that are cheaper.

I'm guessing the original surgery she would have had to remove the skin cancer was Mohs surgery?? Where thin layers of skin are removed and every layer is inspected until it comes back cancer free. It's pretty safe and allows for the most minimal amount of tissue to be removed. If so, she likely ended up damaging more tissue than she would have if she got the surgery anyways. Sometimes surgery is the more conservative option compared to these approaches.

I have ADHD myself, so I know how powerful Adderall can be. Her son was only 7 and she didn't want to deal with the possible side effects which I entirely understand. However, when she started to suggest using essential oils to treat an asthma attack instead of a rescue inhaler, she lost me.

Sure, some misdiagnose, and do stupid shit, but, it's helped me discover things wrong with myself and others that doctors just don't have time to address, especially if it's not something simple.

@@AhNee I need to be careful with it. I'm in my 3rd year of immune suppressing therapy for metastatic breast cancer. I'm under the impression that oncologists themselves work in a secret cave with microscopes and all the stuff they need to keep doing their mad scientist stuff. I see my oncologist twice a year, but every month I see one of her physician's assistants (Basically nurses with master's degrees), so I've bonded most with them and the tech nurses since my diagnosis, and they're very smart people.
When you get a progressive disease diagnosis, people who read online and feel super smart suddenly come out of the woodwork and throw all kinds of crazy your way; it's like the Internet, but on steroids, like, "Eat these mushrooms, they cure cancer! Use these bed sheets, they cure cancer! Do this yoga, it cures cancer." Even the most insane stuff, like, "Put this coffee up your butt, it cures cancer!" And there comes a time when you gotta just go to the experts and be WTF in their faces. What's true, what's not, and how will it interact with my meds?
There are too many variables I don't know about. Getting cancer taught me I didn't even know WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK for almost the whole first year, it felt like an entire semester of college again, but at 50, not 20. They knew things I wouldn't have ever thought to search Google to find. *It's unreal how much more they know than the Internet.* The hard working experts are experts for good reason; they've truly WORKED at it. I don't gotta put coffee up my butt to know it won't work, and although bamboo fiber bed sheets won't cure cancer, they definitely help with night sweats.
EDIT: Also, your doctor is an ass if they aren't at least CURIOUS about you. Change doctors if yours isn't CURIOUS. It's SCIENCE, they're supposed to be CURIOUS! *Your doctor works for YOU, not the other way around.* I've had crappy doctors in the past, and I walk out on them and get someone new until I find someone I gel with. Not all experts are good at their jobs. Good luck with this!!! I truly believe finding a decent doctor is key to decent medical treatment.

Is PRID drawing salve the same thing as this? After my doctor kept dismissing the cysts I get in my uterus area as well as the Bartholin glands, I took matters into my own hands when a bartholin cyst became unbearable. I bought PRID and it drained the cyst within a day. The relief I felt made me cry... my partner has also used it because she has crohns and had a big cyst on her butthole (lol sorry tmi) and it worked like a charm. Her doctor also dismisses her and tells her that crohns isn't a big deal and that she needs to toughen up :(
Obviously, I don't want to use something that will harm us so I'm wondering if PRID is the same thing as this? The medical doctors here will not listen to us or answer our questions seriously, it's exhausting.
