      I’d say rather she can take care herself better now. Not having bras that fit her or proper clothing limited her. This is also why having clothing in different sizes is important, so people don’t feel like potato sacks and can have some confidence.

      If they're large enough to cause health problems such as back pain, mammoplasty may be covered by insurance. Sorry if you've already looked in to this and turned down... but my SIL had the surgery and it was covered. I started having to wear bras when I was 10. By the time I was 16 I wore a 32 ddd. (I’m quite small height and weight wise) got pregnant with my first and BLEW up to a 36 G. Now that I’ve lost my baby weight, and breastfeeding has finished. I have very saggy boobs with lots of loose skin at 22. My self esteem takes a hit and it stops me from dressing up and going out 😭(because I can’t find anything that supports them properly) hopefully one day I’ll be well off enough to get a lift 😩

      Try online shops. You do have to measure yourself, and it may require some returns, but it's worth it. I get my bras from brastop for example and they go quite big with the cups. And there are other online stores with good sizes too. It doesn't matter if the breasts are droopy, if the cup is large enough and the band is correct, you should be able to be comfortable

      Hey I’m not sure if you’ve tried them or not but maybe check out minimizer bras? I find as someone who also lost a bunch of weight and is dealing with a similar situation that minimizer bras provide much better support, even better than a sports or push-up bra. • @olivergregory5093
      @olivergregory5093 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@rexthelegend3180 Recovery was honestly way better than I expected! But it varies from person to person obviously. Itchiness from the bandages was a way bigger issue for me than pain, which with opiates was pretty much nonexistent. And your mobility is super limited for the first week so it *REALLY* helps to have someone there who can care for you while you recover. My partner worked from home for the two weeks after my surgery and we were together 24/7 so it was really easy. You also have to sleep on your back for the first week or so which some people struggle with, but I have experience with it from my previous hip surgery.
      As you've probably heard, the drains are the worst part. They tug uncomfortably and manage to break through the opiates a bit. I also have a bit of difficulty with gore so it was extremely helpful to have my partner empty them for me. I got them out a week after my surgery and after that it was a smooth transition off of the percocet and onto Tylenol for the second week. I thought I'd have more long term pain than I did. Although an important note, I opted out of the nipple grafts, which made my recovery a little easier. I got to shower starting two days post op instead of 1-2 weeks, and all that needed to heal was the incisions, which goes a little smoother than the grafts.
      If you're good at handling pain/misery/chronic illness type stuff, top surgery recovery is a cake walk. If you're generally healthy and haven't been through major medical shit before, it's probably going to be one of the rougher few weeks you'll have gone through. Anyway it *is* difficult, but short term, totally doable, and ime totally worth it.

    As a survivor of gigantomastia and breast reduction, I resonated strongly to the turtle comparison. My bra cups fit over my head! My left breast was much larger and droopier. I was told that two pounds were removed from each breast. My nipples were healthy although the right had little sensation after surgery. Unfortunately, the scar under the left stretched, allowing the breast to enlarge and droop, making them asymmetrical again. My right is an A cup and the left is a C.

      @@mariaheartsdimples I think it went well after removing the gauze and stitches I applied silicone scar cream and tape. I have an circle around my nip and a line down to a anchor ( kinda like two of (-o these). The scars I have are pale with some spots I don’t see a scar. Some of them just look and feel like a scar you would get from a cat. The only area that the scar ended up being raised would be the under boob scars. With the worst points that are raised being the edges of the under boob anchor at the sternum and under armpit. I ended up getting my gallbladder removed vial laparoscopically (four tiny cuts) around 6-7 months later and the scars are worst. They still itch at times and one I think keloid (still pink and hasn’t paled). Even though it has been more than a year since my gallbladder surgery. This is just how my scars healed which could be different for you. I also don’t mind scars except when they are annoying (like the gallbladder). I am also a pale person (can see veins) and am prone to stretch marks.
      I feel like the worst part of the reduction is the first one to two months. I thankfully did not have a drain. But I did have some problems with the itching along with bruising. While they shouldn’t of the nurses gave me ice which should of not been allowed due to it potentially causing the nip to die. I disliked the itch and wearing a bra all the time (even at sleep). I also had to one I was allowed to shower put gauze on until my doc gave the all clear. The stitches were annoying to be removed due to them being around the nip and down ( this -o portion) while the anchor was glued shut. This is just my experience and how my doc directed me.
      If you do get a reduction make sure you get those zipped up or buttons in the front sports bra (I liked the zipped up due to them having a little clip making it easier to apply gauze). My doc did put a front clasping bra on me which had to be kept on till she allowed a shower and then the only time in the shower was bra free. No being submerged for a while (don’t remember never really like baths). You would also need to get clothes that open in the front because your arms are not allowed to go above your shoulders. So flannels and button downs would be your best friend.

I had quite narrow hips and not a lot of butt so my surgeon was happy to make me quite a small cup size as it matched the rest of my body. I’m a trans guy and I wouldn’t rush into anything. Wear binders first, and see how you feel for a while first. For a full top surgery surgeons (in my experience in the UK) prefer you to be on T for at least a year. This isn’t just for the psychological aspect but also T makes breasts droopier and builds muscle. For me T and binding hadn’t actually made my chest droopier (totally wasted genetics in me I guess 😂) so it made surgery a bit awkward and meant I didn’t suit a certain technique be used I had less skin to stretch. It’s terrible. I got smart lipo that was marketed as a procedure that could be done on your lunch hour, would be a quicker heal since the nerves would have little damage. Nope! So much pain, and the results suck, left my abdominals lumpy.

    As a woman with an F cup dreaming of a B cup, I wonder; is keeping the nipple really important? Hear me out. If I'm an adult asexual woman (who don't feel ANY need to impress a sexual partner or derive any sexual pleasure from having nipples) and don't plan to ever have children - if the nipples prove a problem; why not just remove them?
    I know there are very talanted tattoo artists out there who could just give me a new realistic set if I wanted them.
    Just curious. Gathering knowledge before I save up the money for an actual surgery :)

    What’s the difference between FTM nipple grafting and what they have to do with breast reduction? If they have to take the whole nipple off in FTM surgery, why can’t they do the same for “regular” breast reduction? I know they said the nipple would die, but why doesn’t the nipple die in FTM top? It must have something to do with functionality right?

    • @singingstranger2571
      @singingstranger2571 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      There are multiple factors that go into that. You loose sensation with a free nipple graft, you can experience coloration changes and an inability to lactate. And of course, a free graft is more prone to failure compared to methods that preserve the blood supply. So depending on what this patient wanted and what her specific risk assessment was, it may have been worth the risk for her to try and retain functionality. For top surgery, when it's possible to avoid a free graft, they do. Same for treatment of gigantomastia afaik.

    • @zohabaig6426
      @zohabaig6426 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      Nope! Doctors don't usually use gloves unless it's a surgery, in a follow up or other type of general visits it's actually much better to wash or sanitize your hands before and after touching the patient. A big reason for this is that doctors need their full sense of touch to help them figure out if there's a strange mass under the skin, for example. Gloves tend to reduce your sense of touch

    I’d love to have a breast reduction. Large breasts just get in the way all the time & you can’t get away with bras that don’t have underwire because they just give you a weird shape & are uncomfortable too, but in a different way. You’re literally stuck carrying around 2 big, fat rolls on your chest & 2 smaller, fat rolls under your arms. I’d lobe to have a nice A or small B cup.

Wouldn't it be more symmetrical? Because at 11:56, it seems that her boobs are not yet completely symmetrical.

    I have got a question. No doctors here in my country can tell me why it happened. Well, here it goes. My breasts were symmetrical in all manner. Before my 40th birthday my one breast changed size significantly. Went for a mammogram, went for consults after consults. Every doctor says it has always being that way, I just didn't notice it. Well, I disagree. I would of noticed, my husband would of noticed. Due to this complete imbalance, I feel like a freak. Wear sports bras to compress the larger breast. The rest of my body has also changed completely. Size of thighs, calves is also affected. Can fix the breasts with breast augmentation, but my question is why? Why did this happen? And why is the same side of the body doing the same? Doctors say I am compensating for the larger side vs smaller side. Again, I disagree. Something is wrong. No blood tests have been done. Please can you advice on what I can do. Nobody in my country seems to understand the effect this has on me. My quality of life is non existent. Just tired and depressed of explaining it over and over again. Also tired of everyone wanting to see them, so uncomfortable to keep being told it has always being this way.
