KLX140s are great bikes to mod up as well for a play bike or performance oriented youth bike. My son and I built ours up for him to ride single track. We swapped the suspension out with revalved kx85 forks and shock, added a BBR big bore kit along with their cam and CDI. Add in a larger carb and exhaust to let the motor breathe and this bike can rip. It can lug really low and has good top end. I’ve got a few videos uploaded on my channel of my kid riding it for those interested. Great bike!
Bill Terri I didn’t have any problems. Forks and triples were from an 05 kx85. Fitted with a kx85 front brake assembly and perch for that MY. The stock KLX140 front wheel fitted right up. Fender holes match up, just need the right hardware and only piece I had to fab was a bracket to use the KLX number plate.
I'm 40...& I Purchased This Bike(140L) Days Ago. (I've Had & Rode Bigger DirtBikes, 2-Strokes/4-Strokes & These *"KLX"* Model DirtBikes are *PERFECT* For TheTerrain I Ride.) I Ride WestVirginia RaleighCounty Woods! I Tortured a KLX110 "Pit" Bike for a Few Years, & that Lil'MotorBike was *TheFunnest* MotorBike I've Ever Owned!
The new KLX 140 is much larger but still a small bike. I bought my wife a 2023 and she loves it. She's 5'9" tall and still on tip toes to touch the ground at 135 lbs. When she drops it the light weight of just over 200 lbs is easy for her to pick up as well.
Late to the party but I picked up my 2021 KLX140L today as a smaller option to the 05 KX250F I already have and I find it absolutely incredible. Its such a peppy little bike, it really shocked me with the power it has.
This is a great first bike. Clutch is very easy, and it’s pretty powerful for what it is. Only problem I have with it is it’s very proplematic without a cold start kit. Can’t even start it at 60F without long waits. Usually just rev it as I turn it on and it works nicely.
i got one two days ago for thousand bux! runs mint and has been kept in garage most of its life so its in eggcellent shape. i ordered new air and oil filters, and am gonna do oil change on it later today. tires are new and damn it looks nice. rode it all day long yesterday
I have a ttr125e with a bbr 150 big bore and a procircuit pipe. I wonder how it would stack up. I like a lot about this bike other than the fact there no kickstart
There are two things that I want to mention regarding this kid's dirt bike series: 1: I don't get why you guys are not advertising fold back/ASV style brake and clutch levers throughout this series, but from my point of view, it's going to become an absolute hassle replacing levers every time the rider falls and breaks a lever. 2: I absolutely do not recommend getting a billet aluminum gas cap. I think that's the worst investment you can make for a bike, because with time it'll start chewing up the threads on the tank itself. On my bike, I actually had that happen to me twice, and the first time I actually had to replace the entire tank. All you dirt bike and mini bike enthusiasts out there, if I was you I would stick with the plastic cap and sacrifice that bling factor.
The biggest problem with buying a bike for a teen boy is how fast they grow. My son is almost 13yo, 5'6" and growing at a rapid rate. He has only been riding for 18 months and is way too big for his TTR90. I think a 125 4stroke is the best next step but feel like he will outgrow it soon, I want something that will last him a few years.
@@wantlesssquid6886 make sure to clean it once a month and change oil if it’s a 4 stroke and make sure you always clean the carburetor trust me the power doesn’t die for a good 5-10 years you’ll start seeing problems with the klx 140l but the 150f is a good bike
Your weight is really got for that bike, but but your tallness might be a issue. I think you might be a little too tall. I sat in a klx140 at a dealership and it fit me pretty good because I’m about 5,3. I do believe that they can adjust suspension too
Just picked up a 2020 klx 140L. It came with a FMF Power Core 4 pipe (uninstalled). Would you recommend the Rocky Mountain cold start jet kit for this pipe?
Hey, I just bought a KXL140L 2012 and the front fork suspension is stiff as a rock I read online that usually its very soft for an adult. I'm about 120Lbs. I'm going to replace the seals and and realign because one fork seems closer to me than the other and I believe I have a slight misalignment no bends that i can tell. also when I hold the break and shift the bike back and forth I hear an air leak sound from the suspension idk if that's normal this is my first bike and I'm just hoping its not to expensive of a fix and I got ripped off :\ .
I know this is a little late but it's very possible whoever owned the bike before you stiffened up the shocks and the air sound is suppose to sound like that.
We currently don't have a Rekluse clutch available for the KLX140 on our website, but there is a EXP 3.0 Clutch system that is available directly from Rekluse.
Hey guys ! I wanna buy a bike, but idk what to buy, I'm between Kawasaki klx 140L, Kawasaki kx 250 and Yamaha ttr 230. What you recommend me, im 5'8 and 215 pounds.
Yo bro. I’m new to. I just got myself a Kawasaki KLX 140. I’m 5 foot 175 pounds and an athletic build. I got this to learn on as I haven’t ridden since I was in my early teens I’m in my early 40s now but in good shape and health. I wanted to pick up bike that I could control with ease as again I’m a new rider and it has been a minute or two. I also looked at the Kawasaki 250 in the Yamaha 230 and I just felt that they were too big of engines and bikes to control out the gate. IMO FWIW. I mean we got this so my daughter and I could go dirt trail riding around Utah! Picking it up on Saturday as I’m getting my hitch installed it tomorrow and putting together a dirt bike carrier right this moment, pretty excited best of luck friend stay well and healthy!
The old 140 is a good trainer bike if you haven’t ridden before. But it all depends what you are going to be doing. The ttr is more a a trail bike and just playing around and the Mx 250 is more of a race bike more speed better shocks also taller but you could also go trailing on it. If I would choose and if you are a experienced rider I would go with the Mx 250 just because I do not like trails. But if you would rather go on trails go with the ttr. Hope this helped
Lock on grips are pretty easy to install. For the throttle side it will be just like putting on a throttle tube and for the left side it only requires you to tighten one allen bolt. Here are a couple videos that will give you a better idea of how they install: th-cam.com/video/WDVFDy0aVTA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/aY_KbdZf500/w-d-xo.html

How hard was the fork swap. I've heard several things don't match up perfect and it becomes a science project. Thanks!

Did u do the 170 BBR KIT ?
Just picked up a 2020 KLX140G for my son. He's 5' 2" ish and fits perfect on it. This was hands down the best bike decision I could've made for him.
Thank you for that reference height!!

Are you saying she is on tip toes equally on both feet, straddling the bike evenly?

Get a 150 four stroke
I had one it was very reliable but the suspension was a little soft so if you are on the heavier side I’d recommend a fork swap with as kx85
I modded mine to suit me being 22 years old 😂 fun bike!
Nice 😎 They're perfect bikes for everybody!
Great, well put together video. Very informative! Thank you!
Cool bike... I will buy my lil bro a kx65 when he is older 😁
Cheers
Can you do a guide to the 2020 crf125fb Please🙏🙏🙏
Can you do a crf 150f?
it would be cool if you guys made an informative video on the kx 100 . would love to hear you guys input on it.
You guys should try and do kx85 or any 85 2 stroke
Try norifumi exausht from Indonesia 0r also over racing japan amazing exaushts
This is my favorite bike and I've wanted it for a while I just cant afford it:/
Jayden Carrigan they are pretty fun, I’d buy a 150f or rb just because after I’ve road my for a year ish it doesn’t have enough power

Add a kx85 front guard looks so much better
Is $2,700 a good price for a 2011 KLX 140L in 2021, it’s clean but what’s a fair price for this?
I’d go for a maximum of 2000 you’ll find kx125s for the same price
So can i put bigger wheels on it and it be the same as the bigger version ?
Can u please do one on a cr85r/b
Great review thanks 🙂👍
You should do a video on a crf 150r
It’s basically a play bike or a bike for like teenagers that arent that tall that want a faster bike im pretty sure cus its fas but the size of a 85
Can you do one of these on a yz85
Yz is perfect for 8 year olds
What size are those handlegrips?
Is the KLX140L the US VERSION of our KLX150L here in asia?
Yes
this is the US version. The KLX140.
Yeah right if you can find parts for this bike it's a miracle I have one and you can hardly find anything for this bike
What trie is good to get d 140l
Chase can fit this bike.
Can d 140l use d chromes pro battrey
Next youth dirt bike video: CRF 110!!! CRF 110!!! CRF 110!!!
Im 5 foot 5 inches and im a younger rider do you think i should get the klx 140, 140 L or the 140 G?
At 5'5, I would get the G version. Sounds like you're not done growing so I would get something you can grow into.

They've changed it in 2010 and it hasn't changed since
