    Lots of folks shutting up right now while they scratch their heads and try to think of new excuses why a "crappy" bike just did what they swore could only be done with a KTM one million. It's always been rider, rider, rider, rider, bike. Nice display, homie.

    I like how you include the footage of your attempts,and when you get nervous. Some people only show the successful shots. But in real life we all get nervous,and have to try things over and over before we get it down. 👍🏻

    This is so cool,. I have a KLX230. My first bike. I'm 53 and been riding for 8 months. I just purchased a KTM 250 XC-W, thinking I needed to upgrade. Looks like I will continue riding the KLX for a while too. Probably didn't need the upgrade, but my ego got the best of me. So glad you made this video. You may have just helped many people save thousands of dollars.

    You are by far the best dirt bike "how to" instructor on You Tube. Especially this video, you show "by example". I've got a Honda xr230 and always believed the bike wasn't capable, but now I see differently. Thank you for opening my eyes. Next ride, I'm going to spend time at the humble beginnings .... balance drills, then some clutch drills like you suggested. Super video!

    Really appreciate the break down on the double-blip, I must learn this! I feel like most of the riding I do here in the rockies, slow slippery roots, rocks, picking through mud pits, really steep rocky climbs, a 230 or 250-4 is a better tool them my KTM 300, which has too much power to get the perfection in traction that I would like (or I am just not good enough with it yet, or have the powervalve\cdi map right) I feel so much faster on my friends old WR250f, I rode a Honda 150 once, so good for technical slow riding. Many of us use M5b's out here, clear the clay\mud quite effectivly and long life.

    6:30 you're missing the perspective. Just learning things is safer for people with great height. Both, a short and and tall person can be good at balance. But the short person has crashed many times to get there, where as the tall person doesn't even comprehend the potential dangers when learning techniques because they don't exist for them. I just watched a video where a woman (about 5'4") tipped over on an elevated platform (tiny obstacle on an enduro track) and tore her ACL. She couldn't reach the platform floor to save the fall. Once the bike tilted too far, she was off the platform, landing on an extending leg. If you never had to worry about being able to reach the ground, you can't understand.
    I'm not knocking you for being out-of-touch. Just helping to gain a perspective. I'm a good rider myself. But I've got injuries to show for it. Many wouldn't have happened, had my inseam been 2" longer.
    Excellent video, Rich.

    • @IRCTireUSAMoto
      @IRCTireUSAMoto  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you missed the point.
      People who say the only reason I can do anything is because I’m tall. Yet (usually) they are no where near adequate with their balance.
      Which is the best tool if you are short. As I said at 6:47 being tall is an extreme advantage. I definitely understand the perspective. The work it takes to get better at balance is what I’m preaching.

    • @rehepeks
      @rehepeks 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tall people have other issues. Stock footpeg/shifter are not the best match with my size 48 boots. Made it better with rear offset pegs. Also when sitting then my knee angle gets a bit tighter than is comfortable and getting my toes back on the pegs after a corner is not as easy as for someone with shorter legs. Could try a taller seat though.

    Have I been waiting for THIS! It's my bike! Though mine is actually black, I have the KLX230ABS bought here in Sweden in the end of 2020. It's what I started with at enduro school untill they told me I need a 350 KTM or I'll break my KLX. It's like you're borrowing my KLX230, showing what it can do. It looks and sounds so good, and that higher idle gets lower once the motor gets warmer. There's a little servo that keeps adjusting the idle rpm automatically so that noobs won't flame out (I'm kind of a noob). But you look so cool on the bike, Rich. Once again, simply outstanding moto content by the best instructor on ytube. Showing techniques with a regular bike makes this so much more relatable and hopefully you'll make it a regular part of your channel, maybe even do back to back with a regular bike and a competition level machine to show the realistic differences. Thank you for your work and my next set of tire will again be IRC as a means of support.

    A long awaited Video - highly appreciated. After 2 1/2 Years on my small KLX 140 grinding my Basics, I can say with absolute Confidence. “98 % of the Hobby Riders are not able to outride this Bike”. I would say it is even better than than the 230, if you are not taller than 180 cm, because it is about 15 KG lighter and has a Carb for very smooth running. You can upgrade it later on with a good Mechanic to about 190 cc, put a 11 Tooth Front Sprocket, and have an Hard Enduro Tractor to go up steep Mountains and rocky Terrain. And afterwards you have to face the next excuse after having decent riding skills, which is the lack of fitness to handle it - lol.

    Thanks Rich, Such an awesome vid to know what the little turtle is capable of. Bought my 2023 KLX230r, first bike at 49 yrs and trying hard to incorporate all your technical advice. The idle screw is a must, I’m also running a 12 T front sprocket and 65 kg/mm front springs. Makes punching logs a lot easier but I can only dream to be half as good as you. Keep up the great work and thanks again for the education!

    Rich. I just got a great idea! You should try some of this stuff on the Yamaha TW200, to see what can be done on it. How about it?
    .. what's that japanese text on your outfit?

    I want to see you have a go with something electric like an Ultra Bee or Eride Pro. I've been hitting big obstacles with my E-ride pro ss with 21/18 setup and your videos have been really helpful. No clutch on it but I'm getting it. I do find that it's hard to think about moving your body after placing the wheel on the obstacle and then throttling over. Good stuff.

    Nice demonstration Rich! Now you're approaching the level of Gatti Ogawa, the Japanese #1 trials rider on TH-cam. He has a playlist doing obstacles on the CRF250L (adventure bike).

    I try clutch ups and small double blips on my klx300DS with some success, Thanks Rich! I will probably end up breaking the headlight and a lot more :). How about a small video on what the modern dual sport is capable of. Thanks for the awesome content. Cheers.

    This is an awesome video. I wonder if it would be more difficult to lower the power further with something like a 125L or to increase the weight with a street legal version of a 200-250cc dual sport?
    Its amazing how capable the little 230 is in the hands of a skilled rider. I was influenced a few years back to get a Yamaha XT225 after seeing a couple Japanese instructional videos showing trials techniques using a Yamaha XT250, and the rider was able to climb up vertical rock faces far taller than the motorcycle using something like a double blip technique.

    This is awesome. I have an 08 CRF230F and have been looking through your videos to improve my trail skills and share them with my daughters. Its nice to know most stuff translates to the air cooled bikes. I am curious as to how much difference the rear disc brake on the kawasaki makes over the drum on the honda and yamaha 230s

    Had one. HATED that high idle! Couldn't find the idle screw mod anywhere 😑 Kinda regret selling it now. Love my KTM 390 Adventure, but you can't play with it like that.

    Bought my wife the 2022 klx230 and she loves it. But yes the idle drop off lags a bit and that high idle kinda drive me nuts but I'm also on a 2019 wr450f trying to work my self up to doing this stuff but haven't found an area to try it out at like the set up u have there ( located in Phoenix AZ)
