Man, I got way to excited for this. I had a KLX and loved it.I raced a few local Harescrambles with it and it was perfect for it. I got rid of it because it was slightly to small and I outgrew the power. Then when I saw this, I thought I could get another one and build it. But then all I heard was, "custom....custom....custom one off". A part of me died because i cant build one, but another part lives ok in glory and pride knowing someone else took the KLX and gave it the love it really needed and something that should have been offered from the factory to compete with the 150R.
Same kinda I had a klx 110( first bike ) from age 10 to 19 then I got money and got a drz400e so I sold the 110. Some young kid came and bought it and I know he fkn ripped that thing so there's no point in being materialistic about it. After having a pit bike for so long I honestly could never ride one again and be happy. Recently picked up my first motocross bike (01 cr125) after years of riding mostly enduro in the desert.
yea just put kx100 forks and bbr rear spring and big bore kit with an aftermarket pipe and jet the carb to a 105 and 45 main or just get a 26mm mikuni kit from sx parts. it rips i built one myself.
It's nice to see a build that is different and gives idea's for all of us. There needs to be more performance four stroke options for young riders that will one day merge to a 250f. I will always be in love with a 2 smoke though!
I am relatively new rider, I got a klx140rf cause its the only thing i could wrangle up. Its awesome but for what im trying to do it just isn't up to snuff. So I do agree with what your saying
Technically it is a KLX 140, because that's the motor that they decided to put in this bike. Granted its bored out and moded, but it's still a Kawasaki KLX engine
In Philippines,we put so much upgrades on this. 4 valves cylinder head and big bores common used is 63mm bore but some 70mm or more making it 200cc up . Matching it with programmable cdi ,even on heavy stock frame ,stock suspension,it sends and fly pretty much different from the stock engine.we prefer klx than crf150L when in comes to trail riding and race cause its easy to modify and parts come in easy to find
I was hitting 50 ft tabletops and doubles at age 10 with the klx140l the suspension was like a track bike, jumps were great no bottoming out . was awesome
I just ordered a '22 KLX 140RL..these are fun & very trick small dirt bikes ! Well not that small in size..I mean strictly engine. Don't need a race bike!
If you don't know, BBR makes damn great quality aftermarket parts. they are bit pricey though, I bet this whole build easily cost over 15 grand from everything being custom but damn that looks like my new dream dirt bike lol
The guys over at BBR build such nice bikes. Nobody else in the industry is building trail bikes to these specs. I'm sure that the price tag on that thing is around $30,000 with parts and labor.

I wish manufacturers' would fit a larger motor in smaller frame moto bike, for instance a 125 or 250cc engine in a KX100 frame. Not everyone is 6', not everyone rides track. With this KLX140, is an example of anything can be done with money.
I always loved the concept of minis with larger motors.....i had a friend who was a machinist build a 92 kx 80 with a 95kx 250 motor...a little modification was required but this bike was absolutly terrifying but easiest to handle due to its smaller height

I have a klx 140 and it’s really not just a pit bike it’s no 85 but it getting up there it’s not much smaller than an 85 it’s a great trail bike for a bigger kid or a really small adult I’m 5’2 and tipped toe on this bike and I’m 12 years old

So what plastics can fit on these bikes all stock? Cant seem to find any info on plastics, seen they used 17’ kx100 plastics and seat. Just dont see it happening with all the modifications they did.

Put kx85 suspension under it maybe a 85 swing arm and bore the engine out to 150 and ta da it’s not hard to add the suspension

It's a hand rig welded aluminum frame, and subframe... the bike is literally built around the plastics to make them work. Even a custom tank.
