just having 1 small problem, the interface that I have is a newer version and also compatible with inpa, it has a yellow switch at the back(K Dcan cable)when I plug in and view the hardware com ports it comes up as COM 9 , however whenever I try to change the com ports on my computer, it is telling me com port 1 is in use, what do I do? thanks in advance
@sollykhan2385 other work around is to edit the code in those files using notepad and change the com port number to what's being shown in your device manager, in your case currently which is 9.

Before i continue, do you know if i can perform all this data downloading, opening files & operating on/from a external hard drive? As my laptop C Drive has not enough memory available. 😢 Your insight is much appreciated 🙏 ❤️
It should be fine in most cases. depends on your laptop really. The only thing I can think of is USB port mixup, because you will be using a USB port for your external HDD and another for the K+DCAN cable. Give it a try, I'd say!

In most cases, that is usual, but it could be otherwise too in rare cases. Windows on lyour laptop do not recognise the driver of the K+DCAN cable as something mainstream and thinks it's some malware. only one way to find out mate!
Yes, it should be provided you have the files for your car in the ISTA installation. I have heard issues with E46 and it may be because of this reason. Otherwise, INPA is your best bet in my opinion.

@braybrig when I go to do the engine Scan it work, but when i go to the body menu or chassis or transmission it doesnt work and show me the error ifh-0009 no response from control unit. Now i tried to install the driver from the cd and tomorrow i will try. And also i will try the Last part in the video inside the car. I wanted to know if you can help me. Thank you

It's difficult to get it for free. But not impossible. You just have to be lucky. That's the best way I can put it. If somebody shares it for free, the links are taken down pretty quickly as it's a licensed software. Google 'where can I get ISTA reddit' and go from there!

Its a sketchy enough package , getting it from random unknown sources seems sketchy too.. Everybody's installation instructions vary .. I made the commitment to go with the laptop and ista, even if is a steep learning curve but dedicated scanners are starting to look better and better.
It's a licensed software and is probably illegal to distribute for free publically. That is the reason of all the fuss. That is why, if you sign up on BMW forums and become a member, you can reach people who have means to share it. when I say it's a matter of luck, I mean sometimes people share links to their personal cloud where ISTA is stored but they soon are taken down as it's illegal to do that. Hope it makes sense now.

Because every model of a PC/Laptop is different in terms of hardware, there are a few factors that have to be fine tuned on the system to make it ready for ISTA. The software is not the issue, but the PC/Laptop is in most cases. If the machine is tuned and ready to go, ISTA will work first go! If you follow the steps in my tutorial, you should be good.
