      Mike - I cringe every time I see the hatch on your new Lift efoil cranked open past 90-degrees, Keep doing that and the hinges will bend up so the hatch seal won't be fully compressed when closed and you'll will get water inside your hatch.

    I recently rode a Lift efoil and it was a dream! To my understanding, Lift owns the technology behind the efoil boards and many companies are currently in lawsuits with the Lift company over pirated technology. I cant speak for Flite efoil, but if you ever have to call Lift customer service, you are getting superior service since you are actually calling the same building where the creators work. They are very attentive and responsive. Now lets all hope the manufacturing process become more mainstream so we can all afford these amazing machines!

    Excellent video. I have a Lift E3 4.9 with the 32 inch mast and folding prop. I agree with all your points. It is a great board and very well made. I agree the Fliteboard has a much simpler design when it comes to the battery connection and cooling system. I like the tougher design of the Lift board but not a fan of the controller. My choice between the two was based upon the location of purchase and access to service/parts. Lift was easier for me in both cases. Also - I didn't want to send my eFoil to an authorized service center for it's yearly maintenance check up. Lift doesn't require that type of maintenance action. I use my foil everyday and didn't want it gone for a couple weeks for someone to check it where I probably could do myself. Overall - I think both eFoils are top choices and you can't go wrong with any of them. Again - fantastic video and keep up the great reviews.

      I would add Fliteboard maintenance is not really a requirement, just a recommendation. Like with Lift, nothing really will happen if you properly clean the board after each use.

    (Edited)Ok, the point about simple recovery from breaching not being important is confusing to me. You say that "professionals don't breach so it doesn't matter". But almost none of us are professionals, when I saw the Fliteboard's main wing breach and then just slide under again without a drama, I was sold. This is the scariest aspect of the sport to me.
    What else do I like: , I'll be using it in the surf so the free spinning prop is gold, Stronger mast, with adjustable angle of rear wing, better electronics, better controller and apparent range I'm also from Sydney... No brainer, it's the Fliteboard for me, likely purchase next year...
    Thanks so much 🙏🙏🙏

      I don't consider myself a "professional" as well. But I almost never breach my motor on Lift. It's not a big deal really especially if you got a long 32 inch mast.
      Worst case if you breach you just nosedive and fall, and start all over.

      Motor breach and foil wing breach are different things. If your Lift motor/prop breaches the pulling power decreases and your prop gets back to the water nicely if don't reduce the power with the controller. Not a big deal. I hardly ever fall. But if your foil front wing comes out of the water then you are in bigger trouble. :) You might survive, but most propably fall. I like with the Lift setup that you have some extra inches after prop breaching before the front wing hit the surface. Can't comment the Flite setup. My two cents. Great video as always! Mahalo.

    A great back to back comparison. Lovely to see the premier boards side by side. Thanks.
    I chose a FliteBoard Pro because they’d just came out with Series 2. I have a Waydoo and love the simple connections. From using Torqeedo electric motors, aligning the data pin contacts are the most regular problem.
    Second, (no size jokes please 🤪), I don’t have big hands and the lift hand controller would look like Thor’s hammer. If it can open to change the batteries, is this a potential failure point?. That being said, I’ve gone home without foiling because the controller wasn’t charged. So can feel the benefits of this.🥲
    Lift’s sexy all carbon construction is very, very tempting. But a week after getting the FliteBoard, I ran into some rocks. Gouged out some aluminium from the stabiliser arm (lowest part). Used a file on the aluminium and it’s riding as before. Carbon Fibre would have cracked or splintered on my new toy for sure. So some comfort in the aluminium option.

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I agree both have pros and cons, nothing is ideal or perfect. Lift remote is screwed with a sealed cap so getting water into batteries is not a problem. Even if it fails, Lift was very quick in overnight shipping a replacement remote. They also plan to launch a smaller ELITE remote soon.
      Carbon fiber mast comes from Lift's other foiling boards and very strong as well.

    Thank you for your thorough and well balanced video. I have chosen a Fliteboard for a couple of reasons, first I think the aluminium mast is just better and stronger and allows for passive cooling eliminating the need for messy cooling pipes, and also because I'm in Australia and I love that the Fliteboard was invented in my favourite place in the world, Byron Bay 😀

    Great video guys, I really enjoyed it. For me Flite offers better support, I have tried both and Flite people even answered on weekends. Really fast and professional answers all the times. Lift offered not so good and fast answers to my questions. Lift has the big advantage of having foils that you can use is you have also Wingfoil gear. You only buy the mast and you can use the same foil set.
    Another thing I do not like about Lift is the water cooling system. I wonder what happens if something like a seaweed gets into to inlet and blocks the flow of water.

As hard as I’ve been on my Lift efoil over like 1000 hours now, I wonder if I would have bent and aluminum mast by now. I can tell you that this is the most reliable watercraft I’ve owned in 20+ years of enthusiastic use, and my “real” foiling has gotten better by getting time on new wings before going out with my more hardcore foiling friends. Engineering wise, I would lean towards the flite. However, I do have buyers anxiety with the lift, because I feel that their connection interface needs a radical change and I don’t want to be that guy who buys his board just before the new model with the new connections come out.

    I think even with your improved mast it is still 3d printed which is flexing massively underwater under motor load. That and probably your baseplate connection and your fuselage all bending so that foil isn’t getting a chance to fly at the correct angle for lift. Too much flex in the entire system. Good on you for trying this though.

    The new Lift remote with a colour screen could be a mistake. Colour screens relies on emitting light to display information. If the weather is sunny, the control will be competing with the sun, and the sun never loses. Even if they could get over the brightness issue, the power draw would be too great.

    Great review, thanks guys! I am stuck with a few seconds where you demonstrate fliteboard and wing where a surfer is using efoil during wing-foiling. Is that really possible? During learning can I use electric power to get to where I started to avoid walk of shame until I am up to speed?

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was done for fun.. You don't really need any wing when efoiling :) But yes you can do it of course, it's just pretty awkward to hold efoil remote and wing at the same time but possible with a folding prop (or true glide prop)

    • @cureviI
      @cureviI 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JetSurfingNation Thanks for the info. I want to actually learn wing-foiling and just wondering if purchasing an efoil can help me learn that sport. I will often times have to do walk of shame for many months and my theory is that an efoil would be able to eliminate that walk and get me back to upwind so I could practice getting up with the wing again

    • @coryhanneman3345
      @coryhanneman3345 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do that, but the drag and weight of the motor, even with a folding prop is substantial…and of course you have to not care at all about looking like a total kook! [as well you shouldn’t] (:

    Is the Flite board less buoyant than the Lift? I had ridden a few left boards and then purchased a flight board in the longer version actually. When I’m in the water starting a ride, it seems too much more easily submerge than the lift did. I’m wondering if that’s your experience?
    It’s a little concerning because there’s specific instructions are to make sure that the battery door does not get submerged, but I find that nearly impossible

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t understand the question. The battery is inside so it doesn’t get wet in both cases. Both boards are pretty much same in volume around 60 l

    I like much better the lift foil. I have watched you’re passed videos with the lift efoil and every time you opened the hatch I think you passed 90 degrees. I don’t recommend to do it because you can broke the thing that has the hatch and then water can enter into the compartment.

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t overthink this 90 degrees thing. It’s a quality hatch with a good seal. Just clean and dry it after each use and it will be ok

    I really wanted to buy one of these, but £7000(that's a brand new small car)! Is an awful lot compared to windsurfing. For a completely new windsurf quiver(board, sail, mast(100% carbon) , boom and mast base) I would spend around £2000 new but gear that is a few years ago.
    So I think the price of these e-foil needs to come down Sooooooo much more. Like £2000!

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s not realistic. With shortage of chip and battery tech the price will only increase

      All my windsurf friends are peasants. We would never be able to afford £7000 to get into a new sports. Unless the price goes down.
      The first mobile phone was the brick, but it cost £1000s back in the 90's. No one could afford it other than companies. Now we can all have it. So you see in time the price off all modern technology has to go down. Otherwise it won't attract new people.
      Can you afford £7000 to £12000 to get into a new sports/activities? Unless of course you are filthy rich.

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The comparison to mobile phone is incorrect in my opinion. We are not talking of a mass product here but about a very niche specific product, similar to high end bikes they will be never mass produced, this sport is not for everyone. It will remain similar to jetski - a niche sport for watersports fans.
