thanks for saving it! Might have been a female, but they usually stay close to their burrow. We have lived in NW Arizona for 8 years, and the Tarantulas usually go wandering after a good rain. I saved a very small male that was in my shop last October. I am very allergic to the hairs they use for a defense mechanism so no pet tarantulas for me.
We are from Wisconsin, so this is only the second one I have ever seen. It did rain there in Palo Duro Canyon so much that the trails were closed. We help anything out that we can. Thank you for being one of the caring folks in this human-centric world.
