happy to return after a 4 year gap. got hurt and recovery took many years. finally returned today and bought a season pass once again. I was a regular, with 70+ trips. plan on resuming weekly or bi-weekly hikes. might not be able to run throughout the entire trail system like previous years but at least I'm able to hike, which might allow for more fun than blowing through the trails as fast as possible. tons of good memories yet to come. Thank you for the services. palo duro canyon always brings excellent experiences
I flew to Amarillo on my familiarization pass as a twa employee in 1969....after leaving la Guardia (nyc) I went horseback riding in Palo duro canyon ...wow- it was so beautiful!! What a contrast to the "big apple"
If you like that and horse back riding I advise a trip to Bourne, TX. It’s on the second step right above San Antonio. The hill country is just as beautiful.
I was there in 1972 with my dad and brother we went to visit with my Aunt and Uncle they lived in Amarillo Texas my at took us to the canyon and I loved it and it was a great time this is wonderful memory ♥️
i'm going to be working at a privately owned area off of the main park this summer. We give horse tours through the area and i am going to be a guide. Its filled with trees and beautiful rockformations and its wonderfull! i cant wait!!
The excerpt used in this production is from the film "Ole Texas" shot by Charles Goodnight near Mulberry Creek on the J2 Ranch in 1916. Five of the Kiowa men shown on the old footage is Hunting Horse, Odlepauh, Rainy Mtn. Charley, Kiowa George, and Aunko. They were engaged in a mock Kiowa Sundance and a buffalo hunt.
It's awesome to ride around on a mountain bike. Watch for rattlesnakes though that may be sunning themselves on the trail and don't stop if you notice you're running over one but pick up your feet from the pedals just in case. I ran one over when I lived in Arizona. Doesn't hurt them any, at least not to my knowledge. They just flatten out and then slither on their merry way.
Beautiful. If y’all are ever looking for some extra footage to add to yawls productions. I would love to donate my time to help capture aerial footage for you all.
My goodness! Can you just give it a rest? Got three words for you: Crow Creek Massacre! Look it up! Also look up how Comanche women castrated and scalped captives alive. How they used to torture captives by burying captives up to the chin, cutting their eye lids off and leaving them to fry in a full sun before they starve to death. Read an unbiased history book instead of playing video games all day long!
No wonder the U.S./Texas exterminated the Indians and lied in treaties to get the land, it was so beautiful... Makes a lot of sense! The best part, it wasn't that long ago. So we can still give the land back and not get F%^*ed by karma and God might forgive you... 😉
@@elcidcampeador497 Give what a rest? I was just saying what happened here. I know what natives were capable of, I've done lots of research on my Kiowa ancestors and have read stories about how they treated some captives.
Drove over than 800 miles last week just to see myself this... Stayed couple of nigths there, didnt saw a damn security guatd or first aid staff... Cero in security and help from employees when you down there
People usually go there for the solitude and since it's not highly visited, even before this COVID thing, you may not see another soul for a day or two depending on where you're camped. The most people I've ever seen there at one time is when the show "Texas" is being performed and even though the majority come to the park from outside for the performance and then leave the park after the performance. Doubt they're going to have the show this year though but check their website or call the park's office for confirmation.
The trails are generally not accessible for wheelchairs. You can enjoy the park's scenic views from the roads. The CCC cabins and other park facilities are wheelchair accessible. For a list of parks with wheelchair-friendly trails and facilities, see tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/parks/things-to-do/wheelchair-accessibility-in-state-parks

I've read that here in 1870s' the U.S. army attacked Comanche Indians camp. And now you are enjoying the view.
I drove past there on the highway heading towards Austin but I had no idea it was there so I didn't stop. Next time I will.
Ilive near palo duro LOVE IT ITS FUN
Crazy to think 150 years ago there would be millions of buffalo roaming all of that land in Texas

Is there a road that follows the Canyon along the rim ? Thanks.
"Empire of the Summer" brought me here.
A good read
I want to go
Is there an area where you can stop with a dog, just to take a look?
Don't listen to Zeek M. If you don't want to go down into the canyon there is a scenic overlook near the park headquarters which is on the rim.
The Kiowa, Comanche, and Cheyenne's last stand against the U.S.

I dont think the comment was meant to stir up anything , I think it was just meant as part of another part of a history lesson perhaps.
I wish the Natives would have won. Honestly. A much more clean honest lifestyle

Why would you not mention the Texas Musical in this video?
This video is 10 years old. Needs an update with better HD video.
Look ! I think that's a meteorite from Planet Prisby !.....Golly.... :>!
Is this a great place for someone that is in a wheel chair? Handicap accessible?
