Just to be clear, Meyers Briggs (specifically that website) is designed to be the simplified and consumable version of a function test. The function test is actually pretty accurate, it doesn't categorize by extroversion and introversion or thinking or feeling. Instead, it focuses on preferences between externalized or internalized forms of different functions and addresses the fact that everyone has all of them but developed at different levels. This isn't necessarily a defense of MBTI, its just something that one learns when looking further into it. Just wanted to bring it up!! (And no test is entirely accurate.)

Tests like these are amazing. They ask you questions like "do you easily feel stressed" and at the end results they'll tell you things like "your personality type easily feels stressed" and everyone is like "wow yes that's me how did they know!?"

Well, it depends on what is the test for. Like this video, the test is for business use, to see what people fit in what job or position. I think mostly you'd find a useless test that basically results what you've answered to the test, is that some random dumb tests online, that "know more about yourself" thing, haha.
It's not that true. They ask such questions... Then the possibilities are infinite... Your personality type can tell you why you don't like a person... Or anything else... Please try it first and then speak anything...

Im tired of seeing people disregarding mbti just because of the test. Its actually much deeper than it seems once you learn all the cognitive functions.
I agree. MBTI is better than a lot of critics think. I took the test (from the book, from this website, and from others like truity) multiple times over the years. When I was younger I had a different type, but once i got into my late teens my type changed (to INTJ), which is expected since people change as they grow up. But it's stayed the same ever since. I take the test about every year or two, and it still stays the same. Once your brain is fully developed, unless you have major things happen in your life to change you as a person drastically, your type very likely won't change. The point of MBTI isn't to put people in boxes anyway. It's for understanding yourself and your cognitive functions better, which is why it's not technically a personality test. And nothing is meant to be concrete or restrictive. There's plenty of room for differences within each type, each one has it's own spectrum we all fall on. As long as people remember that, then the test is as accurate as any other well regarded psychology test.

Also being introverted doesn't mean you're anti-social. Introversion is a personality trait characterized by a focus on internal feelings rather than on external sources of stimulation. But that doesn't mean that you don't like people or spending time with them

I guess that generally many just find that summing someone up based on the stereotypes related to their on-the-surface characteristics just requires minimum thinking and exerting efforts, and then they can quickly move on with things they prioritize more in life. Knowing this, I’m not trying to justify their way of thinking, as I personally would not encourage this way of thinking in anyone

I actually set up an experiment where some friends and I retook this test once every five weeks for fifteen weeks. I've gotten INTP every time and I don't think my friends changed either (but, granted, people can lie.) I would take it with a grain of salt though. It was, I think, accurate for me.

It's just the majority. Like, you might get your energy from being alone more often than not, even if it's just a little bit. Most people are more center on introvert-extrovert scale.
I'm INTP, The Logician. A couple years ago, it never gave me a definite answer, but I've changed a lot since then, and I took the test last year, and earlier this year, and it consistently gives me INTP, which I think is pretty accurate.
Highly introverted, highly thinking, terrible in social situations, and hard to get close to.

What I find annoying is that people confuse the accuracy of a test with the utility and descriptiveness of the system itself. Yes, tests may give wildly different results if taken multiple times, but that doesn't make the types invalid. There are other ways to determine one's type.

JalapenoStudios YES YES YES, I mistyped my self for a ridiculous amount of time but I'm not complaining about inaccuracy because I was the one took the test at the end of the day, often our image of ourself does not match the way our brain actually works
variance in a test is indicative of it being flawed in one way or another but this isn't so much the case for myers briggs personality test. the reason for mistyping is due to personal biases influencing our answers. also, the phrasing of the questions is inconsistent and prone to misinterpretation.
for instance, asking someone, "Do you rarely feel insecure?" requires more mental work (because it's an indirect question, they have to consider the "rarely" interjected into the question.) than being asked "Do you often feel insecure?"

I took the test around 4 years ago for fun and got Mediator (INFP). Took it again just a few minutes ago and got the same again. I think the 'un-accuracy' of the test comes less from it being actually accurate and more about people changing over time. Some people change considerably in short time spaces whilst others stay more or less the same
It's probably one of the reasons, but it can't be the only one. After all, there are other personality tests that are more accurate/reliable despite the fact that people change - the "Big Five", for example.

Back when I was very concerned with other people's emotions and wanting to fit it, I would get INFP, but when I uh "changed" I started getting INTP, and to be honest based on what me parents tell me and what I personally think I think the cognitive functions associated with INTP (Ti, Ne, Si, Fe) were accurate for me.

I took the test several times and i got INTP and only one INTJ, i look up my cognitive function and turns out i am an actual INTP, the test is quite acurate if you do it the right way (at least from my experience, idk the percentage of people who got the right diagnosis), my friend is an ENFP, she got ENFP from that test and from me diagnosing her.

To put it simply, it's one of mbti's 'base system'. The mbti types are based on this functions (or adapted/flourish from... Or whatever you want to call it, you get the idea). For example, I'm an INTP, INTP's cognitive functions are Ti Ne Si Fe.

The test isn’t entirely accurate, because it tests for individual traits rather then the functions. So the system of organization is scientific and accurate, but the test isn’t

Fun Fact : 16Personalitites is not an MBTI test. They have it written on their website that it uses a combination of many personality metrics and have devised their own theory which they call NERIS Type Indicator.
Hey Dave, Have you ever heard of Synesthesia? I have a version of synesthesia called chromethesia, which mean I see colors when I hear music and sounds. (your voice is like a christmaas tree green, but slightly darker BTW) I think you might be interested if you read about it, and it might even make a cool video idea!

intj/infj are more likely to enjoy using the internet as opposed to more stereotypically outgoing party types like ESTP, ESFP. lol. thats the reason why the interenet is flooded with them. ST types generally have fewer interests in taking a personality test online. they rather be playing/watching sports or doing HANDS ON activities in real life such as mechanics, cooking, gardening, etc. XXSJ types are more interested in hands on MAINSTREAM activities. the internet will see LESS of them. unless mbti suddently becomes mainsteam and "cool" we will not see an abundance of ESFJs lol

Hey, as somebody who has literally read books about personality and MBTI in particular, I'd like to warn that the test itself is extremely inaccurate. Pretty much unusable. However, the basic ideology which the test attempts to evaluate is, to me, very logical and applicable. The test definitely mistyped you- if I had to say, you're an INTP. That is, based on the cognitive function stack that INTPs use. INTPs main function is introverted thinking, or accuracy. It's obsessed with objective and formal logic and finding the truth by any means possible. Accuracy users are gifted at sorting through data and evidence and removing some personal bias.
ENTJs, alternatively, lead with extroverted thinking, which is more about efficiency than complete accuracy. ENTJs want to simplify and delegate tasks to others. INTPs want to complicate and delve into a matter wholeheartedly themselves. ENTJs find themselves commonly in leadership positions, and INTPs in positions of research or analysis. I don't how much anyone cares about MBTI but I could go on 😂
Last thing, the Vox video demonstrates a clear misunderstanding of the MBTI. MBTI does not consider each letter to be a characteristic, rather a method. For example, with INTP, it is not a claim that they are literally introverted in the social sense. It is a claim that their primary function (the function by which the individual makes decisions) is introverted, or inwardly focused, as opposed to outwardly. The acronym is simply a code, not a label. There are two types of functions, functions by which we make decisions and functions by which we perceive. These are not attempts to box an individual into a category of thinker or feeler etc. Only to isolate the priorities of that individual.

INTP, apparently I'm 3% of the population and am the same personality type as a TON of famous and successful people, totally accurate as I'm going to be as successful as them my ass.
Also these questions are way too specific to dependencies on what it is. Like if it's an emotional problem I won't say the wrong things but if it's a problem that they WANT to solve then I'll help in solving it more than telling them to coddle over it mmore.

I landed INTP as well and I thought there was a bit of false dichotomy there which made it difficult in some of the questions. Such as, and I'm paraphrasing, "You stand by what you know to be true than to work together in a group." You can do both, haha.

INTP speaking, and i'm not sure if any fellow INTPs can relate to this, but some people just crave social interaction and i genuinely don't understand these people, the people that think silence is awkward when for people like me it's a time to be cherished, a time where my mind isn't preoccupied with conversation and i can drift off into my own paradise.

Ever since i was 11, i was INTP-t. Now that I’m 18, i fluctuate between INFP-a and ENFP-a. It’s a positive thing, because i know that i’ve developed emotionally in a very positive way, but i can’t help but feel like i’ve lost a small piece of my identity. It serves me right for being so proud to be a “thinker”, when in reality i was suppressing very strong emotions - and it serves me right for being a proud introvert, when i’m happier now as a more social person. It was the small things that made me feel special, but those were the things that, personally, were a big part of my immaturity. I’m aware of the fact that it doesn’t really matter, but it’s been a small part of my life for a very long time and it’s a good way to keep track of myself. It still hurts a little bit.

I was born in 1991. In high school (about 2007) they made our whole school take this test and we had to spend time with people "like us" for a whole day. Everyone had huge groups to mingle... I had this one guy that I already hung out with... We laughed and laughed, hundreds of kids, and we were alone together ;)

INFPs are very cynical when they are stressed out or have similar psychological problems. The types are based on cognitive functions. Infps are very introverted with their feelings and can't express them well, so they use cynicism and passive aggressiveness if they don't like a thing

You have a lot of discipline. I don't think I could ever be a youtuber because I honestly couldn't handle doing something like this test since I don't believe in at all. This isn't an attack on people that believe in tests like this, it's an admiration of people that can look more objectively at stuff than myself.
Funnily enough, I can't give the test no merit at all, because Dave made a video on it and it got me thinking about things I can improve in myself, like thinking more objectively about stuff.
