I've watched so many tutorials on applying sugar paste to a cake, but have never seen someone cut the bottom with the smoother in that way! What an efficient (and effective) way to get clean sides. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much. You have solved a buttercream dilema for me as you say beat it for 8mins minimum out of curiosity how long can you beat it for and what does it do?? Also where can I purchase a rollong board and rolling pin like yours??? Many Thanks Maria....
This is brilliant, every other tutorial I have watched has completely skipped over how to get the creases out! Thank you! (now fingers crossed for the Batman cake I'm making)
Wish I'd seen this years ago. I've been making my sons cake for 7 years (fairly poorly!) I haven't been using enough icing so it's run thin and all the things you said to avoid, I've been doing. Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
No - gum paste, or as we call it flower paste, has more stretch in it than sugarpaste and can be rolled out thinner. It is better for making small delicate flowers. Sugarpaste is used for covering cakes or making simple models/shapes for cake decorating. I hope this helps. Thanks!
