Face ID is more secure, what would be even more secure if they could combine face ID with eye retina scans
หลายเดือนก่อน +165
Face ID doesn’t compare 3d scan of your face with original 3d scan. It actually compares it with some recent 3d scan of your face. Hence it can learn and adapt how your face changes over time (gaining weight, growing mustache etc) I know it’s a nit pick tho. It’s a great video overall
3:24 you not only said it wrong but also showed it wrongly, ambient light sensor is to make the display dimmer in the dark, so it doesn’t blind you, and brighter in the light so you can still visibly see the content on your screen
and also it is officially called an “iphone ten”, not “ex”. not an isheep whatsoever, but attention to detail like that will give you more credibility, especially if you’re a tech youtuber. just giving a constructive feedback here, not trying to undermine you in any way :)
9:11 There’s a little misinformation here. It’s is not checking for just your face, but also your eyes should be looking at the phone. Hold your iPhone to your face but don’t look at it. It won’t unlock your iPhone. Once you move your eyes to your iPhone, it unlocks. This is why it is called “Attention Awareness”.
You clearly put a lot of work into this video. Very helpful info. Some of the comments noticed some info that needs clarity but I still think you did an amazing video here
You've done it again!! I'm literally looking forward to the 1 video popping OFF on your channel and the rest will literally be historyyyy I legit want you to take a screenshot of what your views look like today because once the drill down starts by folks, get ready to exponentially grow/go to the moon haha - seriously, really amazing videos/concepts) editing and everything 😊😊
9:13, actually the reason is another setting called raise to wake where the phone turns on when the motions sensors detect an upward motion of you picking up the phone
0:20 the red dot is not the camera it’s the dot projector and the camera just see the pattern Also newer iphone have ambient light sensor under the screen to reduce the size of true dept system
This is good content! Never would have guessed that your channel is under 10k followers. You just earned a follower! Good luck going forward, seems like you have a bright path!
Another important caveat, especially in comparison to the passcode: It's much more easier for someone wanting to unlock your phone with touch ID and face ID without you knowing or consenting than it is with a passcode. A police officer might force you to tell him your passcode, but with face ID he can just quickly unlock it by holding it at your face for a few seconds.
First time watching ur video and it was actually nice, informative and really easy to understand even tho I’m into Tech. Have you a Sub immediately after watching it. Loved it. Nice video!!!
Very realistic, you did your research. I thought you were gonna go somewhere else with it, but you were on point. You didn't sensationalize it at all. Very informative. Keep it up. I have subscribed.
Awesome content-your topics are so relevant! I’m surprised you’re not getting more views. Have you thought about optimizing your thumbnails or making your editing style pop more? Little tweaks can go a long way.
Long time tech enthusiast, just stumbled across your channel. I enjoyed the delivery and information, I appreciate the effort taken, thank you! (Subscribed!)
3:26 no. Your phone doesn't get brighter in the dark and dimmer in the light. Why would it even do that? The screen gets brighter in the light so that you can see it. And dimmer in the dark so that it doesn't blind you. Your eyes adapt to the light level around you. In the dark your pupils open to let more light in. A bright screen would be too bright for your eyes. So it dims it. Opposite for daytime.
Have you tried scanning a 3d model/object with the front facing infrared sensor trueDepth camera? Heard its more precise than lidar, Nice video though, you've earned a subscriber
1:55 “X” here is a Roman numeral, the number 10, not a letter. The model name is pronounced “iPhone 10,” because the number X is the number 10; it is not a letter here.
I’ve had a significant issue with each unlocking method. Trying to use touchID with lotion hands (especially in the winter when my dry skin gets reptilian without it) and trying to use FaceID when I’ve just woken up (my phone would have you believe I’m a completely unrecognizable alien creature for 30 minutes). Both are annoying, but the extra security of faceID wins it for me (since they updated the iOS with mask compatibility, anyway). Thanks for another fascinating video!
Unless it’s changed, the limit is two appearances. Mask on and mask off use the them both. :( I said when they added the mask recognition that I hoped they’d add that as an additional option, rather than it using up one of the two.
My brain may be off until the caffeine hits, but my eyes open wide immediately. It’s the distorted sleep face, not sleepy eyes. I even tested it with attention off. No good. :(
Wait, can anybody else see the infrared sensors on your iPhone? I have the 13 Pro and if the room is really dark, and I look directly at the notch kind of on the right side of it directly in the middle, I can see two glowing red dots for a couple seconds. Like one or two seconds. Right as my phone is trying to unlock. With the naked eye.
Interesting video thanks. I have a friend and she can unlock her sisters iPhone. And they are not twins at all. Different weight and different age too. I thought it had much stronger security.
I learnt some new things here today, e.g how iPhone face ID unlock works so good in very lowlights condition which comes down to the infred camera and more, which I bet many didn't know about, myself included. +1 Sub.
Dope video and your transitions/video animations are slick. I went on a random google rabbit hole after this and was able to find a pretty interesting 2021 paper published in the Society for Information Display (SID) where the vendor that makes Apple's current FaceID/dot projector array (OTI Lumionics) has figured out a way to etch glass with enough translucence for under display tech. And other display rumors I've read about Apple project a 2026-2027 launch for under display FaceID which would line up with patent to product dev cycle.
Really interesting how it works, thanks for the video! But i have a problem with iphone security. FaceID sounds really good and safe, but it doesnt matter because we can still bypass the faceID with passcode in case of scanning failed, so anybody can get access to my phone if they know my passcode, just like on the first iphone in 2007. :(
bring back Touch ID on iPhone or nah?
nah it stops working whenever my thumb is ever slightly wet 😭
I reckon a combination of both would seriously up the ante for a secure iPhone.
Nah! FaceID is more secure.
@@EverythingButTheCode fattest nah

Do you have a source for tĥis? Is probably an interesting read.
damn thats cool. where can i read more about this? what was the source?
@@korkikluxapple said it themselves at the launch event for the iPhone X.

I came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed as well lol
I noticed it 😂
Oops lol

@@tadho what are you talking about apple introduced it as the iPhone x that's the official name

Finally, she remembered her YT ID😅😅😅
😂
I see the infrared camera lights every time in a low lighting environment am I alone ?
What’s it like?
What’s it like?
It’s shines red right?
Noo yuh not , I also see it when I want to unlock my phone , but in a low light environment lik In the dark..
@@dmelviz yes it’s very dim red lights but noticeable
So refreshing from all the tech channels out there 🎉
Underrated Chanel! I LOVE the editing skills, video quality and audio!

Great video! Love your content
Thank you!
Your phone cover not fitting completely is triggering my ocd😂
This is by far the most detailed but also easy to understand video I've seen about Face ID since it launched!
Even though I kinda knew how it worked, your explanation was top notch. Pun intended. Keep it up!
i kinda expected this explanation for about 7 years?!! - great!!!
9:13, actually the reason is another setting called raise to wake where the phone turns on when the motions sensors detect an upward motion of you picking up the phone
Here justifying your purchase cause that shot with the security camera was so cool 😂
Haha thank you!
Wow, you only have that many subscribers? I thought you have millions. This is really high quality content.

Randomly got this in my recommended videos. Don’t normally like any videos but this one is exceptional. So I hit like.

When I unlock my iPhone in a dark room I can still sometimes see the blinking red light on the notch.
all ATM and POS, car, home, bike lock should have infrared face id lock?
Best explanation of sensors and the technology behind them. Thank you for the video and all the work❤
Yessirrr love to see another small creator making high quality content.
Good explanation. Subscribed.

It doesn’t work like that, you close your eyes and phone remains locked
it's brighter in the light dimmer in the night.
You should have way more subscribers. Great content.
Thank you!
also i knew abt this and somehow on a dark but kinda light environment, i saw faceids blinking thing
Wonderful video and highly informative!
Thank you!
wow! highly technical, I like it
I think in the future, the camera button will be like Touch ID. Apple know what they’re doing with this thing
0:28 you can see face id with ur own eyes at night btw, its not invisible

Would be interesting to see this analysis for Optic ID as well.
Yes! Once the price of the Vision Pro comes down I’ll buy one and figure it out haha
Yes
It works the same as FaceID

Haha I didn’t realize I said X. I knew it was 10 but I had it written down in my script as iPhone X so I forgot to make the translation
iphone x just sounds cool lol
I’ve been wondering this! Thanks for making a video
Thank you!
Finally. Unique content
luv your vids i am subbing

Not many black women in tech around here, happily subscribed. Great video, love the detailed explanation.
Thank you!
I did already know all of this. That’s one reason Face ID works so well in dark environments.
What if someone uses a molded copy of my face? does iphone unlock?
unless it has a perfect texture and perfect dimensions, no. but also if you dont give them permission how would they manage to get that done?
Very interesting! Can’t wait to see more videos 😀
Thank you!

Yes! And you just reminded me of the other Touch ID winter struggle which is wearing gloves and trying to unlock your phone
You can add an alternative appearance for FaceID in settings so it can recognize your morning face.
Unless it’s changed, the limit is two appearances. Mask on and mask off use the them both. :( I said when they added the mask recognition that I hoped they’d add that as an additional option, rather than it using up one of the two.
It might be the “require attention” feature. I sometimes don’t fully open my eyes just waking up, that would not work.
My brain may be off until the caffeine hits, but my eyes open wide immediately. It’s the distorted sleep face, not sleepy eyes. I even tested it with attention off. No good. :(
“We can’t see it with our eyes”
Guess I’m special, in a dark room I’ve seen those red flashes before the screen turns on.
The hardware in these phones is interesting ❤

They still have to lock with pin so even if face id is billion time hard to unlock.. risk of pin will still be there
Great video :) it seems like something simple but it’s really cool how much goes into Face ID
Thank you!
Why'd i think she had like 3mil subscribers 😭Good quality content.

Everything you saying I heard the TV is like that too the technology is out of control now
3:24 ?????
Great video. I loved touch ID. FaceiD is cool, but TouchID is just more intuitive for everyday use
Thank you! Yes, I love that Face ID is hands free but at least with Touch ID you know it’s only activated when you actually touch it
reverse for me. my hands get sweaty a lot. touch id fails 80% of the time
solid explanation!
thanks for giving your face as face id sees it, now i just need to get your phone :D
Thank you for doing this informative video, Love the way you explained all that complicated stuffs. New sub here.
