There was no chance of this family winning. The cult was already in the house after the grandmother's funeral. When you watch this movie with the sound turned up, you can hear them moving around in the attic.

The cult was everywhere in this movie. There was no way to prevent any of this stuff. Even some of his fellow high school students were cult members and we’re in on it.
Was it the scene at the beginning when Charlie looks back at the blonde man grinning at her, with the scene when peters friend ask him to smoke at lunch, I feel like the friend and that man had the same weird creepy smile.
@@diabones4746 I believe you can see a couple of them in the end scene, iirc. I'm pretty sure his one friend Aaron that he smokes with is slipping him the same herbs in his weed that Annie spits out of her tea with Joan (Dittany of Crete) which makes people susceptible to possession.
@@KageKobushi um, yes. Well actually you call 911 RIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENS like a normal person. You don't drive home with you sisters headless corpse and go to bed to let mom find it.
What's left out here is the fact that the demon was already reborn in the sister's body. The entire ritual was the transference from the sister to the brother. That's why the grandmother was so obsessed with the daughter and wanted to care for her herself. The daughter had a physical tick of uncontrollably clicking her tongue in her mouth. This whole notion is confirmed when the final scene shows Peter making the same physical tick. The key, in all of this, was to keep the daughter safe and the demon trapped in an unusable host body. In short, DON'T FORCE YOUR TEENAGE SON TO TAKE HIS YOUNGER SISTER TO A HOUSE PARTY!
Not just that, but if you reflect on the story- Paimon is a victum too. He never WANTED to be part of this shit, he wants to be free, which is why some of the other stuff is happening. The only real way that they could have done anything is after Paimon was relased from the sisters body to basically as him for help in figuring out how to stop it all- In essence trade his freedom from the cult for your survival.
Paimon is one of the real life demons of the Ars Goetia. In Black Magic and Demonology one can "trap" demons in various forms/ways. Then basically holding them hostage for favors in exchange for freedom. From the level of worship we see here in this movie though I seriously doubt Paimon was being forced by these people to do anything. Especially as stated in the movie and this video Paimon's goal was to posses a body of a human male.@@ena_sk

Probably because it's a thing that can legitimately happen in real life. There's no magic or demons involved. Someone has probably died this way. That's how I would explain it.
@husky0098 it actually has happened in real life! Francis Daniel Brohm was hanging his head out the window to vomit when his bestfriend Josh Hutcherson drove him into a utility support cable. Then drove home, slept in the bloody clothes, and didn't even realize what happened until the next day. A neighbor was walking with their kid and saw the headless body & called police. Police woke Josh up. Suuuuper fucked up!
Yea, I watched this in the woods while camping and I feel asleep and woke up and thought I saw her fkn head right it front of my face…I will never watch this movie again.😂
Here’s why! It focuses more on the emotional aspect than the gorey aspect. Instead of being over the top with all this gross out gore and blood and loud stingers and close ups, it pauses to give you dread, and a horrible horrible sinking feeling, allowing you to feel more, rather than react. Basically hitting your morals and emotions, instead of just our natural reaction and response to dead things and danger. Gorefest movies and scenes kinda dehumanize the victims in a way, looking at them more as just flesh bags, which can remove our empathy a little (it’s like how slabs of meat are more appetizing than the whole dead animal). I’ve seen medical gore and results to accidents, and they’re horrible and sad, but this video of dashcam footage, where you can’t see any gore, but can hear the husband scream and wail after seeing his wife was instantly killed by a cinder block that flew into the car, is way, WAY more haunting. (I don’t recommend watching the video, but I know how curiosity is, just prep yourself ig if you decide to search for it). Anyways thank you for tolerating my neuroscience/sociology rant XD
I'm a horror fan and even Charlie's missing head made me cringe. It's how it's done. The build up. The suddenness of it. And of course the aftermath of mentally and emotionally checking out. You don't need to see the gore for it to be effective. I don't blame the boy at all. Sure he lied about it being a "school event". But 1, no teen should become a "parent" to their younger sibling. There's "looking out for" and there's "I'm your babysitter". In this case, it's the latter. 2, she didn't want to go anyway so why make her? 3, Even a mentally and emotionally checked out parent knows that nobody has a "school event" in the middle of the night let alone not ask where it's at even if you didn't really care if they went or not. Problem with your solution, I wouldn't trust a bunch of drunk teens to handle a serious situation like that. I'm amazed he had a decent head on his shoulders (ha!) to think as critically as he did. No, they'd be stopping him because it would mean they were going to "get into trouble" for underage drinking.
For number 3- my school had astronomy classes that necessitated night meetups. But parents have to sign off on it and would know ahead of time. otherwise, yeah sus.
If your wife goes crazy and scares the shit out of your son, you leave with your son for good. She literally tried to communicate with her dead daughter, started a ritual at home and and and.. So many red flags
@@HELLFIRE0239He still loved her though, and probably wanted her to get mental help. It's very easy to say "he should've left" and not as easy to leave. Plus, they were all going through grief, and if he doesn't believe in the occult, then he probably thought that the ritual was nothing but her own delusion and that nothing happened because of it.
Right, her bursts of emotions was the real horror. Ngl, I was shocked about the pole/head scene, but watching Toni acting perfectly a mother spiral into madness was superb.
The dumb move that I’d make: Demons are notoriously competitive. I’d work with another of the Kings of Hell to see what they can do to stop the advancement of their rival.
The moment the mum knew it was demon related stuff she was getting involved with, she should’ve immediately had the whole family baptised and consulted a pastor
The the thing I've noticed is the #1 rule for any Horror movie creator is that all of your characters need to be somewhat dim-witted so they make all the worst decisions.
Considering the fact that the entire family was traumatized and going insane, yeah I don't blame them for researching random words that their daughter says, or noticing patterns on carpets. And for families that are used to keeping things within the family, as well as how crazy she was going with grief and guilt, it makes sense that the mother wanted to take care of everything herself because she felt like she was responsible and didn't think of going to a church or to the police. All their actions make perfect sense for a traumatized, broken family destroyed by grief.
@@ettaetta439 the weird thing is, Annie didn't research any of the words she saw on her daughter's wall (Satony being the first). Instead, she actually starts drawing them on her dollhouse version, leading one to wonder if she is herself, in some way, being demonically controlled.
@@shanemcgriever6251 That's also true. I was mostly thinking from the perspective of: "if you saw a random picture on a rug, even if it looked exactly the same as your mom's, would you bother to research that picture" and the answer is always no. Who would put that much effort in for a random doodle on a rug? Also, she was in a stranger's house so it may have been rude to take a picture, and she was in too frazzled of a state to memorize the picture anyway.
Charlie is the major problem in this story. In fairness to her I might not catch some of these things. Ex. seeing the spirit of her mother. It's actually pretty common after a loss for grieving individuals to see the dead loved one so that would seem normal to me and I might not pick up on the symbol either. However her general apathy torwards her children and their care is the big problem. Her son has a right to be pissed off at her and not trust her. Did she ever bother going to therapy with him? Her daughter is an absolute ungroomed mess. I know something was off with the girl, but does Charlie come her hair, give her baths, dress her in nice clothing? If she were a more attentive parent she might have better relationships with her children and might have saved her family. But her biggest fuck-up was the spell in an unknown language. I know she was desperate and overwhelmed, probably due to guilt but you don't go around doing spells, especially ones in foreign languages when you have no idea what they mean. Like none of the other stuff would have happened if she hadn't done the spell. Also for a quick rewind she shouldn't have let her mother take over looking after her daughter, I don't care how loving the grandmother is being. Anyone attempting to displace your maternal bond is up to no good, don't trust that 'ish.
I agree, but the movie makes her out to be in deep grief, on the background of mental illness (the movie hints that the mothers side has a strong side of mental illness), so its actually pretty normal for her to be acting this way. I think that's whats very scary about Hereditayr, is that its just normal people reacting normally in an abnormal situation (death, loss, crisis).
The mother is in serious grief. On top of that the family has a predisposition to schizophrenia. She already has mental health issues. Those things stacked on top of each other are a bad storm. You also have to remember that in this world, spirits aren't actually accepted as real. A person so desperate in real life could try this. But spells aren't real. So they aren't actually suppose to do anything. This is just a world where it so happened to do something. unfortunately. But it's supposed to be the real world with real people acting realistically in an extreme time of desperation stacked with mental health issues already. PLUS the cult has been grooming the mom and kids for decades if not their whole lives. It was all a set up for them to be vulnerable
The movie just show you how can a version of this tragedy play out. It's inevitable, they will never win and the cult and the demon will always have some way, what can they do against a demon who entire thing is having knowledge and wisdom
Annie doesn't have a pinch of curiosity - mysterious name on the wall, notes about spirits, necklace her mother clearly liked very much - Annie ignores it all. And yes, i know that books in horrors are dangerous, but couldn't she at least skim over a page or two?
She's been around it her whole life so she's used to it. Even in the script it says she ignored the triangle in the mom's bedroom because it's been there a while and was made while grandma's dementia was acting up
For those of us in real life who don’t believe in possession, demons, ghosts, etc. what would it take for us to even consider them as a possibility. The answer is a lot more than the signs that she saw. Maybe she was curious or even concerned, but concerned enough to look into it because she actually thought there might be some connection with spirits? Probably not, only as a viewer and it being a movie would we say hey the clues are right in front of you, why are you not looking into them?!
You’re forgetting the fact that this character did not in fact know she was in a horror film, but had instead in the context of this story grown up surrounded by the weird symbols and had got used to her strange-acting daughter
To a “school event” in complete darkness too- like wth are you even a mother Should’ve gotten the family out of there the night after the funeral even if you need to stay in an suv
I almost never react emotionally to movies, but when Charlie was struggling to breath and then subsequently lost her head, literally, I had the most disgusting and heart wrenching feeling. I mean, I knew it didn't actually happen because it's a damn movie, but I still felt horrible for her.
i laughed when he said the brother should have walked around the house and ask people if they were cooking with nuts. as if he should know they were baking cakes lol
He did know about it. When he decides to leave his little sister unattended he even mentions the cake and carelessly suggests her to take a bite as a way to convince her, which she reluctantly does when he goes upstairs.
Annie was just trying to avoid being labeled as "crazy" like others in her family who were believed to have mental illness due to a perceived hereditary link
@@nemya9586 though some spots like how they knew the son would turn in exactly the right direction to decapitate the sister at that exact pole, like the odds xd
It wasn't a smooth plan at all, Paimon reincarnated into Charlie and he doesn't like being inside a woman at all, they originally wanted Annie's brother to be the next host but he was too smart and commited suicide calling his grandma out, then Annie kept Peter away from her but not Charlie, that way she got time to plan a temporary host and move Paimon between them!
@@sebastien4908I believe Charlie was meant to die like that, when we go back to the pole during the day, I’m quite sure it has the same symbol etched into it as the cult uses
What always seemed funny to me is what exactly did the cult want from Paimon. If we look at his actual roots in demonology, he isn't even really evil or demanding of blood sacrifices. He is mostly described as a demon that knows secrets of the world, nature, science, past/future events, etc. that he can just teach you. But it's never something groundbreaking or leading to world domination. It's more about mundane stuff. My favourite part is how he apparently can help you make friends. I know it's a movie, but it was always funny to me.
Paimon is said to have knowledge of all secret things, including past and FUTURE events (that’s pretty useful), as well as the ability to reveal hidden treasures. I believe it’s most likely the cult wanted treasure/wealth (you see photos of the grandma being showered in gold in the movie) or to learn the abilities of immortality, etc. I don’t think every single cult wants total world domination but more selfish things lmao. It’s also a movie so it wouldn’t be far enough to think that he just wanted a body to give these people those things.
id say that this is different from how evil is shown in other movies that involve more mainstream religious beliefs. Its not so much that the demon is evil but more that he is unnatural, which in some way is more terrifying. its not natural to know future events or gain knowledge/wealth from nothing.
Based on the dialogue they seemed to believe that Paimon was gonna give them endless wealth. But then again there was an piece that said that he was a trickster too so who knows
Annie made a lot of (stupidly easy to avoid) mistakes but I'd argue that not checking the books early on is horror movie common sense. Sure, had she done that she would have figured things out way sooner, but in most other horror movies not reading deeper into a book called "notes on spiritualism" is arguably a smart move.
Yeah, plus if my mom just died and had specifically asked to be buried with a necklace of seemingly religious semblance, id be curious as to what spiritual things she was interested in enough to get a book on it.
I dont get the whole leaving the books part at all. Grandma basically left the confession that she was planning something bad and even left clues that would've warned them in advance. I really dont get why she would do that or the cult would leave those clues there for them to find.....other than that it makes giving the exposition to us easier when the relevant time comes
Ummm I think it’s easy to call them stupid but there is a lot of shit she didn’t know about her mother or know period because her mom didn’t want her to know that’s like wanting your kid to be able to read and write and have command of their language but never reading talking or practicing tiring with your child they gonna go to school behind. Annie was seeking all this out based on the newfound feeling to seek out her daughter. Her mother never wanted her to seek or know her.
annie trying to light her son on fire was her subconscious for sure. she didnt even want him. its almost like her body knew what her mother was planning. maybe its not that annie knew exactly what was going to happen, but considering her brother killing himself and claiming that his mom was trying to put people inside him (paimon), annie on some level knew something was going on. in a fucked up way she was trying to protect him, or trying to stop the impending doom that awaited her whole family

the mom wouldn't know peter was going to a party because he lied about it, either way the situation was manipulated so charlie would die and paimon could take over peter's body. people love to point and blame, but the truth is that the family was done since the beginning

For a lot of those, I get them. I didnt doubt Joan much till the séance thing happened. To beat them we needed to know we were fighting a battle, let alone one that involves a supernatural element. For most of the movie, even I wasnt convinced if its supernatural or are we just witnessing a family with history of mental illness trying their best to deal with grief
Another nice detail, the pole that was marked with the symbol of Paimon before the party, was the same one that killed Charlie. Even the animal carcass were there because the cult put it there. The cult was almost omnipresent at that point
So omnipresent that they needed the son to wildly oversteer just to make it happen. So omnipresent that they needed the mom to do EVERYTHING for them to even give Piemonster a hope of winning. Without the mom, Piemonster was literally powerless
Even if she noticed all of these things, none of this is actionable. Like, ok, she finds out the cult is after her? What then? The only difference would be they wouldn't be so covert about it. She has no allies anywhere and, as you see if you look close, most of the town IS the cult by this point. She can't save her family. The best she could do was make sure the cult wouldn't win by killing her family, which is what her unconscious tries to get her to do at various points.
I think the reason why they ignore it is because of subtle influence in their perception of red flags ,because they are already spellbound by the ritual minus the father
tbh the cult would have achieved their objective with literally any means possible regardless if Annie forced Peter to take Charlie to the party or not...they were doomed from the start and stood no chance since they were already in the house for a while. After the desecration reveal, notice how the floor in the foyer had dirty foot prints everywhere...also Peter's friends were definitely in the cult giving him the tainted weed and such. They stood no chance :(
I think that people forget that the mum was not mentally stable AT ALL in this movie, the strangeness started happening after her mum died- which even if you have a strained relationship is a very traumatic experience to go through. So while all these very blatant red flags are very identifiable to us the viewer and probably just the average person, to someone who is still trying to cope with an extremely traumatic experience, those same red flags aren't as clear and could be summed up to paranoia, grief etc. I don't think this family ever had a chance to beat the cult since none of them were either mentally sound enough to recognize the red flags or they didn't want to hurt the mentally unstable people more. But then again those are just my thoughts and opinions lol
Charlie sticking her head out the window and getting decapitated truly threw me off guard. Not many things in movies or tv shows can make me vocalise shock, but that scene did.
I want them to make a part 2, where it shows what these people received, and what Pymon does on earth. I also wondered if their sacrifices meant they'd actually receive what they sacrificed for, or if they would be doomed. The devil is a great deceiver. I imagine his number 2 man would be also. So many movies about the rituals. What happens now that they're summoned??
The nuts weren't necessarily in the cake. They showed party guests chopping lots of nuts with the same knife they used to cut the cake. That would be enough.
I think he was just in denial, it's pretty common with grief and stuff, the whole family just desperately tried in their own ways to escape the shit that was happening, by ignoring the signs, being generally delusional etc.

This is one of my favorite horror movies. You should watch it again but this time think of her family history of mental health disorders & how everything you see that's supernatural is her delusions. It's frightening. The husband watching her slide into manic delusions from the immense grief of losing her daughter.her son also having a mental break from his trauma
I'm starting to realize that the best possible thing to do in most of these situations is get as far away from where the scary stuff started. At that point I would just go to a different state

So it’s been confirmed that the demon possessed Charlie ever since she was a baby and the real Charlie was somewhere in Hell. And when Charlie ate the cake, it was her attempt at suicide to release the demon spirit so he can possess the older brother. The only reason it look like she was trying to breathe for air was because the demon was not used to the feeling of suffocating.
Sounds mostly right. But the mom later finds a note that more or less saying what happened was partially a coincidence and they ha planned on taking her head some other way at a later point in time. The brothers friends were in in the cult(seen present at the end of the movie) the girl pulling him away from Charlie and doping him up with that ritual herb shit
This is the most brilliantly miserable horror movie I’ve ever seen. It’s so perfect at creating that uncomfortable sense of dread that is missing from so many horror films. The performance from Toni Collette is second to none!
She should’ve been at least nominated for an Oscar. Just because it’s not woke or not a film based on WW2 (which people should not realise is only propoganda tool), she gets ignored.
For the substance on the mom's mouth after drinking the tea, it's likely that she'd just assume it was a stray tea leaf, especially seeing as she is in major grief brain, having lost her mother and her daughter really close together.

To be honest. Most of the things that you said you would do is not possible because you wont have the correct information and you are only acting in terms of this movie and not as you would in a real life scenario... However, I should mention that a lot of the information you said is true and would be discovered with communication. Would kind of be difficult with a broken family but I guess it's possible when they can put their differences aside to summon a demon... Lol
I SIMPLY adore you! You have been like THEE only person on the Internet who made a video about Hereditary that points out how bad of a mom Annie Graham actually was. Everyone is like "Ohhh, she's a victim. She had NO idea and NO way to help what happened to her family". Cut it out, yes she did. LOL 😂🤣 I HATED her character from start to finish. She was the ONLY reason they died. If she showed common sense and paid attention to her family, she would have enabled them to escape the cult. 💯💯🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽THANK YOU!!! 😝😂🤣😊😊
Literally this! Everyone says they were doomed from the start because of the cult and demonic influence...but the blatant negligence (to the point I'd call it abusive) from the parents, ESEPCIALLY the mother, is how the cult won. How could it truly be demonic influence? Paimon was stuck in the daughter. Either the demon is strong enough to control outside forces, to the point where it would be able to transfer ITSELF to another body, or it's weak and depends on the cult to do things for it. I firmly believe in option B. Going off of that, there is blatant stupidity in the mother and a lack of communication between her and her husband. Even suffering from grief, she should at least *mention* the things involving her mother and the strange word "Satony", look something up, delve deeper into the mystery...and the husband should have told her the truth about her mother's grave being desecrated. Also, I don't care if she is "mentally unstable", groomed by the cult, or in grief...why the hell would she send her special needs daughter with severe allergies to a party or event, even a SCHOOL ONE, without knowing who is going to be there, why it's happening, and if there will be food served that could possibly endanger her child's life? Why even put the brother in a place of having responsibility like that, anyways? Having his little sister there, who again, is special needs, won't stop him from being irresponsible...it'll only put the younger child in danger, especially without important medication. Either the mother is completely braindead, intentionally malicious towards her disabled child, or it's terrible writing...
Pretty important correction: The mom didn't send the daughter to a party. The son lied and said it was a school event, then completely neglected her at said party, etc... Just saying the son fkd up a lot too.
I can’t properly remember but didn’t the little girl say she didn’t want to go tho? Why force your child to go to a school event if they don’t feel like it.
I mean the girl still didnt want to go and why would you force her to go to what seems like a high school event . With people she most likely doesn’t know. Also this still could have happened if the school event served anything with peanuts and without her having a epi pen she risks dying,
to be such a powerful demonic king of hell, why tf would you want to possess some human guy’s body?? like to go from powerful demon king of hell to paul who works at mcdonald’s?
Good point...but perhaps they're just trying to be destructive and cause chaos in every area because their time us short vs God/Godess who's time is long and full? Hard to say.

Yeah idk why it just made me feel sick and it’s not even very gory it just left me in a state of shock

The the thing I've noticed is the #1 rule for any Horror movie creator is that all of your characters need to be somewhat dim-witted so they make all the worst decisions.
Fr
to be fair most people are a little dim witted, especially when scared or rushing
My only question is how did she not pick up on the symbol? It's not like she never saw it before. She is wearing it on a necklace to the funeral.
Charlie is the girl's name. The mother is Annie.
As far as I know it's only dangerous if you read out.
Mom was stupid to send her daughter without medication knowing she had severe allergies, in a party full of teens who'd likely go wild without care.
To a “school event” in complete darkness too- like wth are you even a mother
Should’ve gotten the family out of there the night after the funeral even if you need to stay in an suv
Movie logic.

You are assuming Charlie was not team demon from the beginning. She was possessed from birth.

The herb in the tea is dittany of crete, which was also rubbed on the grandmas lips to aid in allowing her spirit to be seen by Annie in the workshop

I threw myself down a rabbit hole & found a couple really good videos that helped me put things together. Scarred myself more in the process of course but 🤷🏽♀️😅
this whole channel is just
“me personally i wouldn’t have done that”
Exactly it works so poorly especially for this movie, when its whole plot point revolves around everything being predestined
I'm not down with the premise either. Basic problem here.
Whatever the characters did in this movie was very normal for any average person to do. Meanwhile, you are expecting every one to be Light Yagami, which is not very practical. This movie was very neatly written
I had a paranormal experience 2 weeks ago . Something annoyed me then tried to communicate with me. What do you do? everybody thinks your nuts. Was actually a bit like in this Movie, except it couldnt write that well at all
@@JackRed6666 I'm not an expert in these things but I've had my fair share of experiences too. The best thing to do would be to get a professional to deal with this ASAP

To be fair, the movie would have actually been good if it was just a history of mental illness.

This is one of the craziest movies Ive ever seen. The haunting pop sound of the dead sister always creeps me out.
I wonder what would have happened if she tried to leave the town, with her entire family.
Who tf bakes cakes at a teen party lmfao

@@Dipply But then why not just BUY cakes?? Takes way less time, saves money, way less messier, probably cleaner, and you KNOW it's gonna be good??
And having nuts as your ingredients. Its not like the most typical allergy, people suffer from.
@@guzmashujiIf you look at the colors they are wearing as well as behind the scenes, it's clear the those people at the party were apart of the cult.
I think the reason why they ignore it is because of subtle influence in their perception of red flags ,because they are already spellbound by the ritual minus the father
That's just a defense of crap writing.
The father is also half asleep throughout the film
tbh the cult would have achieved their objective with literally any means possible regardless if Annie forced Peter to take Charlie to the party or not...they were doomed from the start and stood no chance since they were already in the house for a while.
But then again those are just my thoughts and opinions lol
yeah but the dad wasnt mentally ill aside from grief so why he didnt use his common sense
27:27 no way i get a genshin impact ad before king paimon appears...
I was about to comment that
Charlie sticking her head out the window and getting decapitated truly threw me off guard.
I feel like statistically someone else at that party should of had an epi pen lol
Everyone calling the dad the victim when he clearly saw the supernatural was real during the ritual and was like "nah annie you crazy."
I think he was just in denial, it's pretty common with grief and stuff, the whole family just desperately tried in their own ways to escape the shit that was happening, by ignoring the signs, being generally delusional etc.
le me guess, you're the type to go to an magic show, then be convinced magic really exist, i feel sorry for your gullibility, but fyi, any sane person will doubt it and search for possible alternatives.
The brother’s and mother’s acting in this movie was so good
This is one of my favorite horror movies. You should watch it again but this time think of her family history of mental health disorders & how everything you see that's supernatural is her delusions. It's frightening. The husband watching her slide into manic delusions from the immense grief of losing her daughter.her son also having a mental break from his trauma
Or you know go watch a actual good horror movie.
Delusions don't make people fly and spontaneously combust.
I'm starting to realize that the best possible thing to do in most of these situations is get as far away from where the scary stuff started. At that point I would just go to a different state
The world is bigger then the US

One of the only true classics in recent memory. This is how horror should be done.
That's such a goofy defense of terrible writing. He does that for his other movies too.
Most people who are suffocating are not used to the feeling of suffocating.
Ummmm where is this confirmed and nowhere in the movie do they talk about hell .

This is the most brilliantly miserable horror movie I’ve ever seen. It’s so perfect at creating that uncomfortable sense of dread that is missing from so many horror films. The performance from Toni Collette is second to none!
I take it you don't see much good horror movies then if you think this is brilliant and think most horror films don't instill dread.

For the substance on the mom's mouth after drinking the tea, it's likely that she'd just assume it was a stray tea leaf, especially seeing as she is in major grief brain, having lost her mother and her daughter really close together.

Lmao 🤣 “I would have done this” and lists the things a superstitious person would do. The mother played into her character. Her mother isn’t religious nor was close to her mother due to her eccentric tendencies
I mean, she didn't even do the things a proper skeptic would either. The other side of it would be to look into mental health issues or show even the slightest bit of curiosity.
H2B IS superstitious lol.
For the first time I'm asking: Why wasn't Peter arrested? Even if the death was an accident, not reporting it would get you jail time.
Because why would a mother want to report her son to the police?

I think you meant incinerated, not incarcerated. The latter means imprisoned.
Tbh, the suggestion to throw away suspicious books immediately after funeral could backfire, if story follows classical "restless soul" rules. One needs to wait 40 days. Even if home is still clearly haunted, it's better to move away for 40 days, then go back for the cleanup.
Lol
I'm not sure they even had a chance to undo what the grandma already had in motion.
LOL 😂🤣
I HATED her character from start to finish.
18:23 Sitting in a dark room with with an unknown lady from the street is one way to make lifelong friendships.
Moral of the story: Don’t force siblings to spend time together when they don’t want to. Also don’t do literally any of the other shit Annie did.

Also, telling the people at the party to keep Charlie away from the nuts wouldn't have worked. Everyone at the party are members of the cult.
