Couple things: 1) Lee does not have psychic abilities. The doll Longlegs gives her has Satan guiding her and telling her where to look (The line "It's like there's someone behind me, tapping me on the shoulder, telling me where to look" and there is a shot of the devil standing behind her). 2) There's a whole scene where the boss' daughter talks about how her birthday is coming up. You can see the boss dodging the subject throughout the film, wanting to stay in denial and keep his idea of control. He's depicted as being a sort of "above it all" type and the Devil, of course, loves to punish those people who aren't scared of him.
@@sAINTDeVilleCan confirm. If I'm correct It's a dialog where the boss asks her "have you had this often" (referring to psychic predictions) and she responds that it is difficult to explain and gives out the explanation that OP said.

The sound design when Longlegs was singing was almost painful. It would start out in the normal range but then you would hear a low ringing that progressively grew before the scene transitioned. It was almost like it was his way of psyching himself up before he would kill or hurt someone.
I always assumed the reason the Lee made such horrible decisions was because of the influence of her doll. And once her mother had finally destroyed the dolls head it finished a ritual that put her fully under the control of the devil.
Everything she did since she was a kid was influence of the doll, she didn't even have psychic powers, it was the devil guiding her. You even hear her mention that it's almost like someone tapping her on the shoulder showing her where to go, and then it shows a literal devil over her shoulder lately. Everything from when her mother met Longlegs as a kid and delivered the doll to their house up until her mother shot the doll outside the house as a nun, that was ALL the devil guiding her life.
I think it was the opposite. Destroying the doll freed her from that influence, which was exactly the wrong thing to do but the mom had no choice because she was also being controlled. The Devil wanted Lee to kill her own mother of her own free will. And that required that Lee be free of influence. All the mind control family murders were just to lead Lee to that point. Lee was always the only real target. It was a very long term game just to mess with her.

Gotta love it. “No one can crack the code.” -> proceeds to show the code is one of the easiest codes that exists to break. Straight substitution cyphers are really, really easy to figure out and most people tend to be able to do them if given enough time- at least if it is written in a language they speak and are fluent in. 11:28 is a good example of why its easy with the word “the” being repeated identically even in such a small sample. Then there are a decent chunk of stuff you can follow like that (such as a single letter word being practically guarenteed to either be an A or an I, s and e being some of the most commonly used letters in english etc. Keep plugging things in and boom, cypher cracked.
Yeah that's the thing I liked least about this movie, I can suspend disbelief that MAGIC and demons can hide from society and stay a myth, but to think that the FBI wouldn't break that simple cypher in twenty minutes is laughable at best. I was creating and cracking 1:1 substitution cyphers in ACTUAL elementary school.
@@SunbearSmoke like a substitution cypher can kindof work. If you substitute it into an ancient language like Latin or something that most people cant read or understand intuitively how the language works/ need to identify the language through the cypher as well as decode. Even then, I would expect people like the FBI or anyone with a big enough budget to be able to solve it by machine calculations and specialists. But just 1:1 substitute cypher into english? Hell no to that code lasting long if put under any scrutiny.
Why is it that the lead detective, who’s tracking a serial killer that targets families on the EXACT DATE of his OWN DAUGHTER'S UPCOMING BIRTHDAY, never once freaks out or realizes, "Hey, maybe we're in serious danger here"? And how does his entire team of seasoned detectives completely miss this glaring red flag and fail to take any precautions? Thank you for reminding me that I wanted to watch this movie in cinema, since we are having 5 € weekend here. Can't say I found it particularly scary. The camera work stood out the most for me, focusing directly on the characters for long times, having a lot of background (open doors to other rooms, windows, big rooms) behind them, making me focus more on what's happening in the periphery, but it never really did anything with it.
I feel like this describes the movie in its entirety almost. The first acts were flawless, but the second half felt like wasted potential. Longlegs not mattering at all and just being a freaky satanist instead of an actual killer or supernatural being like we were led on to be the case was a let down. And then the ending just feels like nothing was actually resolved, all that build up never goes anywhere meaningful, interesting, or get this, *scary*. The film wouldve been better as a show. I think the ending happened the way it did because the writers quite literally ran out of screen time. The slow burn wouldve worked better in hour long episodes rather than just slow cooking and somehow ending up raw and unfinished.
They did a TON with peripheral camera work, including showing that her entire life was guided by the devil and she wasn't even actually a psychic but it was the devil himself guiding her.
@@SunbearSmoke How did they do that? Also I was talking about something specific: The long scenes of characters talking to each other, where the camera was holding straight onto their faces.
The main thing he missed is that she’s under the control of her devil until the mom frees her… Meaning Lee can’t read the future or bad at her job it’s the devil in control most the movie as far as Lee goes
Further the first scene they say the wanted man won’t go down without a fight then Lee comes and he surrenders. The devil lead Lee to the house and possessed the man all to make it seem like Lee was special to get put on the case
When this movie came out, my mom suggested that I watch it. I said, "I'll just wait for How to Beat to do a video on it. So I can watch it for free and get survival tips."
She wasn't psychic. She THOUGHT she was psychic, she didn't actually have ESP, the devil was telling her where to go and what to do. Notice in the movie when she says "It feels like someones tapping me on the shoulder telling me where to go" you can LITERALLY see the devil over her shoulder after.
The more I think about this movie and how much of almost every character's actions, thoughts, what they see...was controlled or manipulated by the devil, the more terrifying it gets.
Lee was basically just a pawn the whole movie without knowing it. It's one of those cases where there is really nothing that could of been done. The only one really with any control might of been her boss, but how the story went it felt like he was in some part being influenced himself already being in denial playing right into the trap. A case where it's pretty much 'they were screwed' from the start.
I saw this movie in a drive in theatre as a double feature and thought nobody even knew about it I really liked it I’m glad to see it’s not some obscure film that nobody will ever know about other than the people who stayed at the theatre
it bothered me so much that Lee let her boss just murder his wife in the kitchen while she stood there staring at her mom on the couch....like be for real right now she was such a useless main character except for figuring out the cipher
Theres a creature in the left corner behind her in when shes in the fbi building trying to figure out the puzzle at 11:59 the creature is also the same creature we see outside her cabin later (goat horns, abnormaly tall, dark)
It's Satan, the judeochristian lucifer. Notice that it was behind her shoulder after she described her psychic abilities "it's like someone is behind me, tapping my shoulder and guiding me" It was SATAN telling her where to go, she didn't actually have psychic abilities.
I instantly knew they had the same birthday and it would end up at the party when she told Lee. Also, I am unsure how the letters went that long without being figured out. It is a good video and I'll probably watch the movie .
Yet he doesn't realize that Lee was under the Longlegs' influence from the beginning. That's how the entire plot happened, longlegs fed her clues to torment her and that's why he got his way. Lee was not dumb, she was mind controlled. That's not hard to see, expected more from this channel tbh.
if I had to do half of the things people do in horror movies, I'm moving to the most remote place I can think of and trying my best to live in peace bro 😭anyways have a damn good day everybody!
☝🤓 "ummm akthually the main character is a terrible detective!!!" Ah yes, because Lee was just oblivious of her own accord. The film totally did not have the reason why she missed so many things spelled out in the ending... "The doll maker started his work--his terrible magic. The work of the Devil, with a little bit of him in every one. The doll made the little girl forget... and told her where to look... and what not to see." whoops idk how that quote got there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I only watched the first 15 minutes and i already thought of the show The Outsider. If you've seen it you'd understand what i mean...the "being" in the show was able to project himself in people's minds.

You must remember that the movie takes place in the 1990s (although it begins, and the entire thing looks, like the 1970s). There weren’t that many DNA profiles in rural America
I feel like telling families to watch out for someone on their daughter’s birthday MIGHT make them think you’re a psychopath. That might just be me though.
As someone who grew up in Oregon, there are TONS of artists around, no matter if it’s sculptures or painting… this movie got that vibe of artists down 😅
Yeah, Lee let's a lot of things go by, even though she's being "guided", but that's because she's under the influence of the devil whichi is making her apathetic, or even numb during most of the movie. She only "wakes up" once her doll is destroyed and from that moment on she's rushing and acting like a normal worried person does. The final proof is when she can't destroy the last doll and the girl has this apathic behavior, just like Lee had.
Before watching this video, I never knew Nicolas Cage had made any sequels, but hearing you mention the "hamburger meat" scene it's now obviously that _Longlegs_ is really _Face/Off: Part 2_ 😏
I went to see this movie the day it was released, and Longlegs really freaked me out through the whole movie. I was scared as shit and thought this was the best horror movie I had ever seen, but the plot twist of ''Satan'' and the ''paranormal'' activities really killed the mood at the end of the film. Idk if you guys think like me but I wish there had been another ending.
HOW exactly can 2 people be SO INCOMPETENT like these two?? You wouldn't need freaking FBI TRAINING to figure out that your OWN birthday, or your DAUGHTER'S, perfectly matching the victim pool is relevant. Some people are just too stupid to live.
I loved Longlegs ! It's honestly a breath of fresh air in today's standards. Though I have a request !! I would love for you to do a "how to beat" on the Thai movie "creepy crawly" also known as "the one hundred"! I ADORE that monster flick, but the characters in there seem quite dumb to me! I wonder what you think about it :D
the easiest way would of been posting the codes online and having people solve it. highly doubt it would take long since people do love solving puzzles and helping. also would give access to many people who have the skills that police or such wouldn't have.
I definitely feel longlegs won, Even in death. She now becomes him. Slowly, because of the corrupt influence. That’s probably what the sequel will be about. How to beat Longlegs, book two. If I had to guess maybe mid 2026. She for sure needs help. That doll dust blows all over her face. I’m surprised no one else mentioned this.

@@Mandam2011you’re right!
@@Mandam2011Oh wow! Excellent spotting.I'd never have noticed.Big thank you ❤ From Australia 🐨
It's Satan, the judeochristian lucifer. Notice that it was behind her shoulder after she described her psychic abilities "it's like someone is behind me, tapping my shoulder and guiding me"
It was SATAN telling her where to go, she didn't actually have psychic abilities.
Been waiting for this one! LONGLEGS DADDY. Fire editing gang well done!
Shoot the doll. Saved us all 41:10 minutes.
they had one job...bring more police officers on lookout, instead they think its some type of solo mission
6:02 it’s supposed to be “the quick red fox jumped over the lazy brown dog” because it includes every letter in the alphabet
'Red' is a redundant word in the phrase.
'The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog' is the phrase most commonly used, at least here in the UK.
@@dan13jb Jumps
@@renaldoplet1666Thanks, yes! It should be 'jumps'. I missed that one!
16:00 lol that isn’t just a random “inverted triangle.” That’s Satan/Lucifer’s sigil that you use when you want to summon him.
The watterson car 0:48
No wayyy😂😂😂
I instantly knew they had the same birthday and it would end up at the party when she told Lee. Also, I am unsure how the letters went that long without being figured out. It is a good video and I'll probably watch the movie .
Dang, who else thought this was about a spider monster?
33:06 bro he was *ROASTING* them so hard lmao 💀😭
Yet he doesn't realize that Lee was under the Longlegs' influence from the beginning. That's how the entire plot happened, longlegs fed her clues to torment her and that's why he got his way. Lee was not dumb, she was mind controlled. That's not hard to see, expected more from this channel tbh.
@@jagdeepdhillon8008 thx I haven’t watched the movie yet sooooo yeah lol
finally the first movie ive seen irl before your how to beat
this isn't about a slender man type being or monster? bruh all this time i thought that's what longlegs was about
When you watch the movie you'll realize that long legs is not the villain you're facing, the devil is
Yes that is the whole point
if I had to do half of the things people do in horror movies, I'm moving to the most remote place I can think of and trying my best to live in peace bro 😭anyways have a damn good day everybody!
You think your safe, until you notice that the hills have eyes
Remote places are bad
1. No help available
2. No meat shields, and that would your biggest mistake
☝🤓 "ummm akthually the main character is a terrible detective!!!"
Ah yes, because Lee was just oblivious of her own accord. The film totally did not have the reason why she missed so many things spelled out in the ending...
"The doll maker started his work--his terrible magic. The work of the Devil, with a little bit of him in every one. The doll made the little girl forget... and told her where to look... and what not to see."
whoops idk how that quote got there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After the mind control stopped she became even more stupid tho.....
day 2 of asking for how to beat oddity
You mean to tell me I’m just now realizing that the 2 detectives in this movie are named Lee and Carter?…👀👀
Rush Hour lmaooo I just caught it too
I only watched the first 15 minutes and i already thought of the show The Outsider. If you've seen it you'd understand what i mean...the "being" in the show was able to project himself in people's minds.
22:30 😂 The casual way he says “changing the subject”
oh and thank you for covering these movies lol gives me a way to watch them without wasting hours of my time , question , back in the day you sounded wayyyy different like a whole different person , is that cause the mic or was it a different person ?
Different person 😂
That dude still makes some videos i think the french air pollution movie was covered by him! I swear I had this question in mind for the longest time
Hey how to beat I just wanted to say how big of a fan I am I watch all your videos your the best TH-camr ever I just wanted to say keep up the great work and remember have the best damn good day
I was waiting for a how to beat video on Longlegs ever since I watched the movie in theaters. Love to see it great movie
how to beat Longlegs? easy, let me get Lucille, Ikr she it's good at breaking heads, legs wouldn't be different lol
Literally the only how to beat video I haven’t watched
long legs is scary as hell bro
MAN I LOVE THIS LOADING SCREEN!
bro this is a good day woke up end how to beat dropped a banger lets watch it
You must remember that the movie takes place in the 1990s (although it begins, and the entire thing looks, like the 1970s). There weren’t that many DNA profiles in rural America
I've been waiting for this video ever since I've seen the movie
Was the movie overhyped? Yes. But was it still great? Definitely.
I must have been living under a rock because I didn't know about this movie until yesterday 😂
Eh I fell asleep watching it so I couldn't tell you
Literally never heard of it
How To Beat The Kraken in Netflix's "Skull Island"
Let's GOOOOO
Lots and lots of dynamite
ISTG YOU BETTER HAVE A DAMN GOOD DAY
2 minutes ago is cold
I feel like telling families to watch out for someone on their daughter’s birthday MIGHT make them think you’re a psychopath. That might just be me though.
Thanks for making this video, this movie seems so Interesting!
Rest in peace to this once great channel.
Bro I love you for doing this movie, have a damn good day
Love the vids man thanks
As someone who grew up in Oregon, there are TONS of artists around, no matter if it’s sculptures or painting… this movie got that vibe of artists down 😅
I came out of the theatre just being mad that no one had long legs.
Hey, try doing a "how to beat SCP" series plz plz.
frrrrr
Yeah, Lee let's a lot of things go by, even though she's being "guided", but that's because she's under the influence of the devil whichi is making her apathetic, or even numb during most of the movie.
She only "wakes up" once her doll is destroyed and from that moment on she's rushing and acting like a normal worried person does.
The final proof is when she can't destroy the last doll and the girl has this apathic behavior, just like Lee had.
UNDER A MINUTE BABY
🔥🔥
I’ve been waiting for this vid since the movie came out
It was my birthday yesterday and you posted this video 😭 at least now we know how to beat them 🌸
Have a dam good day
3:26 bro😂😂😂😂😂😂
how to beat longlegs: no1. dont have a kid on the 14th
I thought this movie was about daddy longleg spiders
Before watching this video, I never knew Nicolas Cage had made any sequels, but hearing you mention the "hamburger meat" scene it's now obviously that _Longlegs_ is really _Face/Off: Part 2_ 😏
I went to see this movie the day it was released, and Longlegs really freaked me out through the whole movie. I was scared as shit and thought this was the best horror movie I had ever seen, but the plot twist of ''Satan'' and the ''paranormal'' activities really killed the mood at the end of the film. Idk if you guys think like me but I wish there had been another ending.
Absolutely agree
Watching this movie is like having an edible kick in. Totally unhinged by the third act.
Another good damn video keep it up 👏
Js rewatched this yesterday this vid like a birthday present 😂😂
I love you so much! I recently just found your kisluxs and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life
I was waiting for this
This plot twist was wild
Day 42 of asking how to beat to do the anthology horror movie Hollidays
HOW exactly can 2 people be SO INCOMPETENT like these two?? You wouldn't need freaking FBI TRAINING to figure out that your OWN birthday, or your DAUGHTER'S, perfectly matching the victim pool is relevant.
Some people are just too stupid to live.
I just didn't understand why he targeted her because all the other families had fathers, and this was just a mom and daughter
LFG. I’m about to have A DAMN GOOD DAY!!! Cage absolutely crushed this ❤
Have a darn good day!
I thought the movie was going to be about a spider or something...
I literally just watch this lol now I see you did a how to beat…it’s a good day 😊
I loved Longlegs !
Lonlegs is such a fucked up movie because it feels real while watching it.
HAVE A DAMN GOOD DAY!
you too!
@@HowToBeatYT Tysm for replying
the easiest way would of been posting the codes online and having people solve it. highly doubt it would take long since people do love solving puzzles and helping. also would give access to many people who have the skills that police or such wouldn't have.
I think part of the poor decision making is supposed to be “under the fog” of the demonic spell.
Always eating these horror movies up
