@@therealNguniEmperor wouldnt say this about this movie, atleast grace was smart she did survive by the last plot armor but other than that it was preety much her skills as well
Okay, admittedly, If I hadn't known the ammo was for show, I would be confused too. But given the fact the family in question is used to winning so often that they forgot what a challenge looks like, especially if they can't even shoot at their target properly, I'd say this would probably be the easiest victory to score compared to the **vast** majority of scenarios in the movies covered this far. Helped by how competent and smart Grace is
that’s the weird part tho, why are they shooting at her to kill when they need to sacrifice her? doesn’t make sense later on when they subdue her rather than killing her on the spot
Don’t forget, the last time they played hide n hunted was 30 years ago when the kids were all little. But you’d think they would have taught them to handle weapons properly and hunt in preparation.
I kinda think that the way to win was honestly to just be her family. Her husband could’ve survived purely because he’s now tethered to her but the fact they didn’t all instantly explode I just interpreted as it being within her control; she killed them. If they just didn’t try to murder her all night and instead bonded with her like she so wanted, they would’ve survived.
Except that's not how it's explained it works. They exploded because they lost the game and failed to provide a sacrifice to Mr. Le Bail. Daniel is the only one it's left vague about. Would he have survived if she had forgiven him and not said "I want a divorce" or would he have exploded either way because he's part of the family and therefore bound by their rules? Grace wanting them dead has nothing to do with it. Her surviving until dawn is what kills them.
If you watch the movie its stated that they just have to play the game and most of them accepted that they lost when the sun came up They only exploded when the Crazy Aunt tried to “cheat” by killing Grace after the game already ended therefore also punishing her whole team and killing everyone. At least that’s how I interpreted it
@@jgamer2057 They don't JUST have to play the game. They have the WIN the game and sacrifice the "hider." They failed to do that, which is why they exploded. It didn't happen until Helene tried to "cheat" because (Doylist answer) the filmmakers wanted to fool you once last time into thinking Grace was in danger before the sudden shock of the villains dying one by one and also because (Watsonian) it just happened to take that long. It had nothing to do with Helene's actions.
@@mustlovebooknerd Daniel was the brother's name. Alex was her husband. I wonder what would have happened if she hadn't told him she wanted a divorce. He didn't explode until she threw the ring in his face.
One thing that would've thrown the family for a loop and have bought Grace more time besides the fire is to break a few windows around the house as the the family wouldn't know if she's gone outside or not meaning they'd have to split up and theoretically halving the number of people you'd have to deal with at any point in time.
The detriment to that being the sound of glass breaking. There’s quite a few scenes where the mansion is silent as everyone stalks around looking for her, glass breaking is a dead giveaway.
@@laurbug8024 thats can be used as distraction to help sow more confusion in the family if they heard it as several scenes show similarly loud noises that the family didn't hear.
Because the others were morally corruptible they were allowed to join the family and so they box picked a normal game for them. Basically they had to be capable of playing hide & seek if the situation ever arose. Hide n seek only gets chosen if the new spouse is basically a good person who could never be a part of a hunt.
he's just selfish imagine risking her life because he didnt want her to break up with him like hey here's a solution just tell her that your family are bloodthirsty gamers and that if you marry me you could potentially lose your life so lets make our own family from scratch boom there you go problem solved
@@jadabartley9210 honestly he wouldn't even have to say all that if he was scared his family history would scare her away, he could just say "my family is a bunch of abusive psychopaths, I don't know what they'd do to me or you if I see them again" and BOOM, done, no reveal of your bloody family history and yall can run away happily ever after
The last time they had a new spouse pick the hide n seek card was 30 years ago. He was the skeleton in the body pit. The card box picks the game based on how moral & corruptible the new spouse is. The dad & the other kids all married pretty awful people, so the box gave them normal games knowing that of the time called for it, they would continue the deal & kill. But you’d think they would ensure the kids grew up knowing how to shoot, just so they were prepared. I’m guessing arrogance made them think they really couldn’t lose.

If he really loved her he would had told her before hand, from fear if anything happening to her. Def would care more about her safety than her breaking up with him.
I love this movie I don’t know if I would trust Alex, even if he was my only option. He could still change his mind sometime in the middle of the night. Maybe she could’ve set sound traps, like shards of glass or something. But they would’ve seen it and known where she was. If she could’ve recorded their voices, she could’ve locked her self in the bathroom and pretended to be one of them. Kind of like Kevin McAllister. Edit: also, they could not have run away or avoided getting married if she wanted to be part of the family. The question is whether or not her children would’ve exploded later if the situation had happened again with someone else. Also, I like the theory that the game is used to weed out those that are unworthy of being in the family. The people who successfully join are either smart and morally dubious, or stupid. Becky fully embraced the family and although she seems nice, she’s got to be at least somewhat evil to be able to kill people. Charity is more than willing to kill people and is greedy as all hell. Fitch is an idiot. Not much is known about aunt Helene’s doomed husband (except that his body is implied to be in the goat pit, with an arrow through the chest), but the way he begs Alex for his life the same way that Grace begs Georgie for hers lends me to believe that they are the same - good people caught in a shitty situation. Grace is a kind woman who just wants a family. Neither of them belong there, so they drew hide and seek. It’s like a punishment for picking the wrong kind of person Also, Grace should definitely get that hand cleaned since the sacrificial goat pit is not exactly where you’d like to have an open wound
Matthew 11:28 come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. As well as Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God (Jesus who died on the cross for our sins) is eternal life. As long as you put your faith and trust in Him.
A family like that clearly has some high quality booze. We even see the brother grab a bottle. Grace should have grabbed a couple bottles and used Molotov cocktails. Lure the family into a small space and light them up. It’s hard to shoot someone when you’re on fire.
Maybe. But you could do it so that most of the mess falls behind the wall. It was definitely worth a shot. That family wasn't made up of the sharpest tools in the drawer.
Also, the whole "Mr. La Bail" (or however you spell it) is a pretty clear transformation of the name of the demon Baal (pronounced like "bail; bale; b-A-uhl"). So yeah, I think it's safe to say he's actually a demon...
@@BalthazarBalrog Very good. I don't think many people understand that there are historical distinctions made between the two, but they are essentially the same character (a demon often personified in different spellings as if describing different entities.) There are Belial, Bael, and Baal; all of whom are similar in nature but occasionally represent different independent entities within the same realm. I think their choice to make Mr. "La Bail" an anagram of "Belial" was a very clever choice, but which slightly contradicted itself when they made him appear as a man rather than the demonic supernatural entity it was historically recognized to be. But, regardless, it's still bringing more focus and attention to the evil entity that plays games with the mortal souls of men to regain control over this plane. That's a good thing, especially with the worship of demonic figures that's so prevalent in modern media.
I am proud to report I am no longer to watch horror movies due to my vast watching of these videos. It’s been a long three years, but worth every second
Okay did i miss something?... why did alex just switch sides so quickly after all he even said he was willing to do whatever it take to be with her then just turns on her towards the end because "reasons".
I feel like his brother was his last straw, when he (brother) died, alex probably thought it was grace who killed him which made him switch sides cuz he and daniel was it? seemed to have that really close brother/brotherhood relationship that and the gaslighting of his family saying how even if she did survive afterwards, was that she'll probably leave him anyways
Correct. Alex assumed Grace had killed Daniel. After Daniel died in his arms and seeing Grace brutally kill his mother, Alex snapped and turned on her. Being away from his toxic family for a few years isn’t long enough to undo all the mental trauma that he has from his childhood when he likely never sought therapy, and he was gaslit into believing something was gonna happen. Either the entire family dies if Grace isn’t sacrificed or Grace survives but leaves his ass, which was his biggest fear. The only reason why he proposed and rushed into marriage was because he was getting signals that Grace was getting ready to leave if he didn’t take their relationship to the next level.
One, I’m gonna guess he thought she killed Daniel and now he sees she’s killed his mom and with that, he’s fully realized she wouldn’t stay with him after all this time so he decided to give her up
Daniel was the only one who would’ve loved him no matter what decision he made, but Daniel died and he’s unsure Grace would still love him after all this demonic ritual stuff, after seeing her kill his mom while saying “fck your family” he knew Grace probably still wouldn’t love him, but tbh I think she still somewhat loved him until he started strangling her
Wait what? Why did Alex help her out so many times just to betray her minutes before the curse was supposed to happen? All that "character development" of him not liking the family gets thrown out the window because reasons. Glad I was spoiled, this was stupid.
I don’t get it either. First I thought it’s because she killed his mother but that would be common sense if the mother tried to kill first. So at the end of all the brother was the only one with a change of heart
I’m scrolling through comments trying to figure out the same thing since I haven’t seen the movie. I can only assume it’s something to do with the brother and mother’s deaths, maybe he realized he didn’t want to see the rest of his family die in front of him if they didn’t do the ritual?
She should have changed outfits immediately, then used her wedding dress as a decoy. Especially after they pointed out that she'd be wearing the dress when she saw them kill the nanny. Use what they "know" against them. Or use torn off pieces to "snag" on things and make it look like you escaped from a window or went down the dumb waiter when you didn't.
Why didn’t he just train her? Like have take Somme survival and self defense classes? He could say that’s his condition for marriage then she wouldn’t have been completely overwhelmed.
honestly he could've just said that his family's abusive and Grace would've agreed to not have a traditional wedding and just elope 🗿 He was all vague and for what bruh 💀
Most of the time the new husband/wife picks a card and gets to live (but they do give their soul to the devil) and he just assumed Grace would too for some reason even though he had a whole dialogue about how she’s a good person so he should’ve seen it coming
That’s not how the curse works. Grace wasn’t accepted into the family because Mr. Bail chooses depending on what card you get. When he gave Grace hide and seek, it meant she wasn’t apart of the family and must be sacrificed as she’s the moral one
12:30: How To Beat: Hey, I want to make a deal with you. Devil: Sure, you won't be able to outplay me anyway. How To Beat: (turning to the viewers) And that was his biggest mistake!
I would find a way to hide within the walls such as a crawl space and just wait it out. Maybe they'll get pissed at each other and kill themselves for me. All I would have to do is ensure I can't be snuck up upon and maybe take a nap.
There was no avoiding playing the game without dying. Alex explained in the movie that you have to get married at the house and you have to play the game. Family members that tried to elope or didn’t play met gruesome ends
26:45 okay this is total bs. She just triggered the emergency button HERSELF, if she actually had stolen the vehicle why would she ever do that? It makes no sense. The operator would never "shut her car off remotely" when she's literally crying and telling him people are chasing her and trying to kill her what the f...
Assuming the other games are a lot more forgiving, there was one really easy solution to all of this. As Alex, I would have just snuck into the room with the box, and stole the hide-and-seek card. When they then do there drwing thing, there is no risk that they will get that one, and so she should be better off.
The "behind a painting" is a bad idea because of the noise and tools required but it sparked a better idea in me: CHIMNEY! no one would look there and even if they did, they wouldn't be able to see you. Possible problem is fire, so make sure to be a good climber. Also, unlike the dumbwaiter, you aren't trapped if the chimney runs thru multiple stories and even leads to the ROOF. super smart hiding place (that I always wanted to try as a kid)
hiding inside the chimney is pretty much a death sentence since you would probably get stuck and wouldn't be able to breath properly due to the lack of space. Multiple people died this way
@@gorgnigon yes because the chimney stack is not as wide as the fire place so if you did manage to get into it, you would not be able to get back out due to the expansion of your chest.
Two comments: 1: Wow, that "Hey, I still want to be with you." right at the end. Excuse me, but didn't I just see you drinking the Kool-Aid 2 minutes ago? 2: There's something more Alex could have done for Grace before the game even began; arrange for a summer wedding. The closer to the longest day of the year, and thus the shortest night, the better. That way if the unthinkable happens just like in the movie, he has tilted the game as far in his wife's favor as he can in advance. Whether or not this setting believes in daylight savings time might have an effect, but at least he would have put in every possible effort.
27 mins in the one thing coming to mind is zombieland rule nr 2 double tap. Strangle buttler well done reversing over him and forth again is a must do at this point.
The best way to beat a game like this is to outsmart the seekers by hiding in the place that they least expect. In this case, it would be returning back to the game room after everyone had dispursed. They're not going to think to search there if that's where they started and if that's where the ritual is supposed to take place thinking that she would stay far away from that room. Secondly, she could have hidden in the same bedroom with the kids. They wouldn't think to go in there because there's witnesses, but the children were sleeping, and she could have slipped in when the nanny went out to look for Georgie. The last place where I would probably think to look would be inside one of the ginormous fireplaces that they have in every single room, she could have crouched down in the corner of each one thats not lit in eqch room.dor a quich apot to hide. If I were her, I would have taken off the wedding dress at one point and figured out a way to put on something else. The thing that sucks, though, is that Grace was never alerted to how serious this game is, so she didn't take it serious at the beginning and strategize properly.
Horses aren't gunna run blindly into shit mang no matter how much you spook it, it would just stop and change direction or jump over whatever is in front of it if it can
Why didn't Alex go no contact years ago? Gotta disagree with you on the horse. If she's not an experienced rider then bareback is not an option and who knows how long it would take to get it saddled up. Trying to jump or smash down gates is most likely gonna get her thrown. These are big strong animals and if you don't know what you're doing stay away.
You should do how to beat baby0sitter in babysitter please like so he can see babysitter is an all time favorite .Also one reason i even thought of this is because grace in this movie/show is the same actor as the abby sitter cole has. I also find it ironic that in this movie grace (the babysitter from the movie babysitter) Also makes a deal with the devil for a ritual on cole. But yeah please do BabySitter fyi cole is the main character
The premise of these videos is how we, as normal people who don't know that we're in a movie, would survive, right? So in what world would a normal person see some toxic family dynamics and think "This must mean they're gonna kill me"? She had no reason to leave before the wedding. She was in love, about to get a family like she's always wanted, and living- in her mind- in a normal world where evil spirits killing you via hide and seek is not a thing. Y'all blame Grace when, if this universe was real and you only had as much info going in as Grace, you would have thought she was insane if she assumed that her wedding was gonna end with a sacrifice to the devil and ran away. Alex is the one who should have done more, not Grace. He had all the info.
Grace still could've used common sense. There were several warning signs that the family wasn't right, and that she was potentially in danger. Instincts exist for a reason; if you ignore them, then it's your own fault.

@@rebeltuesday8346 so you can't beat Ready or Not
That plan may backfire, especially if they had never hooked up prior to the wedding.
Yeah
Except that's not how it's explained it works. They exploded because they lost the game and failed to provide a sacrifice to Mr. Le Bail. Daniel is the only one it's left vague about. Would he have survived if she had forgiven him and not said "I want a divorce" or would he have exploded either way because he's part of the family and therefore bound by their rules?
Grace wanting them dead has nothing to do with it. Her surviving until dawn is what kills them.
If you watch the movie its stated that they just have to play the game and most of them accepted that they lost when the sun came up
They only exploded when the Crazy Aunt tried to “cheat” by killing Grace after the game already ended therefore also punishing her whole team and killing everyone.
Wished they would've showed some of the other family's cards and seen how their game work
Ooh yes that would have been great to see
It’s just a normal game. Nothing else happens unless it’s hide and seek
Because the others were morally corruptible they were allowed to join the family and so they box picked a normal game for them. Basically they had to be capable of playing hide & seek if the situation ever arose. Hide n seek only gets chosen if the new spouse is basically a good person who could never be a part of a hunt.
"I didn't tell you because you would leave me." Yeah thats what love sounds like.
he's just selfish imagine risking her life because he didnt want her to break up with him like hey here's a solution just tell her that your family are bloodthirsty gamers and that if you marry me you could potentially lose your life so lets make our own family from scratch boom there you go problem solved
@@jadabartley9210 honestly he wouldn't even have to say all that if he was scared his family history would scare her away, he could just say "my family is a bunch of abusive psychopaths, I don't know what they'd do to me or you if I see them again" and BOOM, done, no reveal of your bloody family history and yall can run away happily ever after
For a family that’s been killing people for generations they really suck at doing it
Which proves how much they win so often 😭☠️
The thing is, the family isn’t bright and its only happened for this generation once before Grace. They’re gonna suck
@@daisysunshine1324so that's why Grace got the shtty card, bc she's a good person that the devil cannot use to continue his sick tradition.
It depends on the game that is picked, it’s very rare for hide and seek to be picked I’m pretty sure it only happened once before grace

This movie was way better than I thought going in
If he really loved her he would had told her before hand, from fear if anything happening to her. Def would care more about her safety than her breaking up with him.
I love this movie
I don’t know if I would trust Alex, even if he was my only option.
It’s like a punishment for picking the wrong kind of person
Also, Grace should definitely get that hand cleaned since the sacrificial goat pit is not exactly where you’d like to have an open wound

A family like that clearly has some high quality booze. We even see the brother grab a bottle. Grace should have grabbed a couple bottles and used Molotov cocktails. Lure the family into a small space and light them up. It’s hard to shoot someone when you’re on fire.
"its hard to shoot someone when youre on fire" T_T lol
That family had really lousy targeting skills anyway, so that seems like a good plan.
You probably need more explanation on the luring in part because that seems hard
Making a hole behind a painting is a horrible idea. No chance to not make a mess.
Maybe. But you could do it so that most of the mess falls behind the wall.
It was definitely worth a shot. That family wasn't made up of the sharpest tools in the drawer.
I think Daniel cared about Grace more than Alex
Also, the whole "Mr. La Bail" (or however you spell it) is a pretty clear transformation of the name of the demon Baal (pronounced like "bail; bale; b-A-uhl"). So yeah, I think it's safe to say he's actually a demon...
Le Bail = Belial :)

Like her Uncle Hugo, Samara Weaving is pretty badass. Plus, Melanie Scrofano is in this which is also awesome.
Here's the thing: If Grace made a deal with Mr. LeBail, she would have received a fate far worse than death.
Another awesome video as always. That’s what I’d expect from How To Beat.
One, I’m gonna guess he thought she killed Daniel and now he sees she’s killed his mom and with that, he’s fully realized she wouldn’t stay with him after all this time so he decided to give her up
Because it became obvious she wouldn’t continue to be with him after all of this?
Daniel was the only one who would’ve loved him no matter what decision he made, but Daniel died and he’s unsure Grace would still love him after all this demonic ritual stuff, after seeing her kill his mom while saying “fck your family” he knew Grace probably still wouldn’t love him, but tbh I think she still somewhat loved him until he started strangling her
You should do “The Babysitter” movies.
The OG theme is back!
Typical of most marriages. Commitment and faithfulness in the first few years then betrayal for own self and pleasures.

Chopping a hole in a wall with an axe will leave quite the mess. If you didn't plan ahead to contain and dispose of that mess your plan is doomed.
she is not only the survivor, but she inherited everything since she was legally married; that is the catch
Smart I agree she should have changed into a light sweater with a hood dark colors preferred.
Arguibly the best how to beat ive seen.
Why didn’t he just train her? Like have take Somme survival and self defense classes? He could say that’s his condition for marriage then she wouldn’t have been completely overwhelmed.
In Alex’s (small) mind, she wouldn’t have pulled that card…despite the fact that Grace is a good person and Mr. Le Bail is the devil
honestly he could've just said that his family's abusive and Grace would've agreed to not have a traditional wedding and just elope 🗿 He was all vague and for what bruh 💀
Most of the time the new husband/wife picks a card and gets to live (but they do give their soul to the devil) and he just assumed Grace would too for some reason even though he had a whole dialogue about how she’s a good person so he should’ve seen it coming
I love how grace just picked up anything to defend herself

HAVE A DAMN GOOD DAY.
It would have literally made no difference
I was expecting her to die at the end or be considered cursed because she technically joined the family.
That’s not how the curse works. Grace wasn’t accepted into the family because Mr. Bail chooses depending on what card you get. When he gave Grace hide and seek, it meant she wasn’t apart of the family and must be sacrificed as she’s the moral one

Motive of the story: getting married is a pain literally and figuratively

The undiluted approval of murder in these surprises me every time... "novice, shouldve killed the butler"
hiding inside the chimney is pretty much a death sentence since you would probably get stuck and wouldn't be able to breath properly due to the lack of space. Multiple people died this way

Dude switched up last minute and then expected her to return to him.

Gotta disagree with you on the horse. If she's not an experienced rider then bareback is not an option and who knows how long it would take to get it saddled up. But yeah please do BabySitter fyi cole is the main character
Lesson learned. Don’t get married
Or don’t make a deal with the devil
