    the night/double exposures looks so cool. I'd love to see this film on neon light night photography. like those instagramish portraits. I think it would look great, since the skintones doesn't really metter in these situations

    I like most of the colours except how it shifts purple to green.
    Hey have you tried photographing a color chart with these weird films to produce .cube LUTs for your accompanying video? That would be cool, the video of you using the film is graded to look like it.

    You got some beautiful pictures out of this, but I don't think the film is for me. I'm more of a fan of the lomography redscale film. :)

    I have a few of the 2018 version of the XR 100-400. I find that in my scans, the purples can look a bit more magenta which I post-process to be more towards red so it looks like Kodak aerochrome :D

    Great video and review Hashem. Really interesting look and really appreciated the 800 comparison. N00b question. Since the film speed is variable how does the lab now what ISO to develop it at?

    • @pushingfilm
      @pushingfilm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Develop normally! C41 has a standard dev time regardless of iso... Unless intentionally pushing or pulling.

    hey, Thank you for the review. I was curious regarding another person's opinion about this emulsion.
    I've shot 4 rolls of lomochrome purple (the new formula in 135) during the summer.
    I could agree with you it is an interesting film, however that is all from the postive side of it.
    The color shift is entertaining, but the quality and the resolution is awful. I tried in different ISO settings and so on ,nevertheless the amount of grain is high. The dynamic range of this emulsion is ridiculously low, even comparing with a low budget color negative like Fuji C200 or Kodak Colorplus. Also the the price is really high for a 'toy' like film even it is not a regular one.
    Anyway, nice video, keep up!

  • @drewmultydrew
    @drewmultydrew 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What iso were you using at night?

  • @Harlequin565
    @Harlequin565 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hah. I've just sent a roll of 35 off for dev and have a roll of 120 on the desk waiting to get posted so this was interesting to see what sort of results you can get from it. You didn't talk about sharpness/grain too much on the video. How did you rate the actual quality of the images? They look great on screen but obviously that's nothing like an A4 print. Nice video, and really useful to see different types of images under different lighting. That lavender was lovely. Loving the channel!

    • @pushingfilm
      @pushingfilm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks very much! I would compare sharpness and quality to a consumer 200-400 speed film from Kodak or Fujifilm. It doesn't tolerate underexposure well though, so I think for the cleanest result rate it at 100; shadow detail is probably its weakest point

    • @Harlequin565
      @Harlequin565 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pushingfilm Just wanted to say that I got my 35mm scans today and totally agree. I shot my 1st (35mm) roll at 400 and they're really quite under-exposed and have grain that I'd expect from a much faster film. Shadows are "bad". The 120 was rated at 200 (before I saw this video unfortunately) so I'm hoping for better results.

    You need bright lights, and solid colors. You took a picture of a gas station, and I almost threw up. The picture of the girl with the purple and blue is what this film is meant for; that was a good picture, I just wish you had a brighter day to shoot on. This film loves bright sunny days, and the strongest colors you can find, I even made a rhyme for this film. no dead leaves or washed out jeans.

      @@pushingfilm You're using the film to get weird effects in the first place, so you would want to use them where you would get weird effects, you didn't change much in the picture by using that film. You could have gotten a similar picture by just using color negative film, that's my point. Also people are watching your videos to learn. So make sense of the photos you take before you put them in a video.
