Tanzania is an East African country known for its vast wilderness areas. They include the plains of Serengeti National Park, a safari mecca populated by the “big five” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), and Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain. Offshore lie the tropical islands of Zanzibar, with Arabic influences, and Mafia, with a marine park home to whale sharks and coral reefs.

Tanzania has been a model for Africa. Their first President Julius Nyerere was my hero when I was in college in the early 1970s. He was the first leader in Africa to voluntarily leave Power. He led many peace conferences in Arusha after his retirement. I had a wonderful Tanzanian professor at Hunter College (CUNY) in New York City. I am an American.

I am Burundian and I lived in Tanzania as a refugee 1977-1982 and 1984/1985. Tanzania was good to me, I had a good job, I was given the opportunity to lead a gold exploration project for one year (before leaving the country for further studies) and after I learned Swahili language, only my co-workers knew that I was a foreigner. I lways will be grateful to Tanzania and its people.
I saw President Julius Kambarage Nyerere at Dodoma Stadium (around 1980): but I don't remember whether it was to celebrate the victory in the Tanzania-Ugandan war because there was an Ugandan cultural troupe thanking him.
I was impressed to see how President Nyerere was wearing normal sandals.

What you do not know about him is that he made sure his political party we never loose power for all time, the system he created is meticulous with assurance.

    • @user-wh3fx3um9t

Nyerere wasn't first to leave power. Leopold Sedhar Senghor of Senegal was. Also Senegal is majority Muslim , but has been led by a Christian , aislim married to a European , a Muslim married to a Christian woman , a Muslim married to a Jewish French woman... You will also never hear of religious strife. And recently a young man was ELECTED President. Senegal is the gold standard and Tanzania is just good at propaganda!

Tanzania is the most peaceful East African country. They soeak very serious Swahili and they have risen above tribalism. Tamzanians I have met are polite and low key. Arusha and Moshi hosts East African meetings and East African legislative headquarters. I learned about their first oresident in high school. He jad Shakes Spear books translated into Swahili! He advicated unity for Tanzanians by emojsizing use of Swahili as theor national language, and emohsized importance of community using concept of 'Ujama', a form of unity. Tanzania has never had a military coup or government, they akways have peaceful transfer of government from one president to the next through elections. They dont have life president.

For clarification 1. majority of muslims in Tz like in Kenya live in Coast regions of Pwani, Dar es Salaam Tanga etc. Tanzania is a big country we border Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, DRC Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya and Uganda. You can imagine how big it is. For example traveling from Songea in the South to Bukoba in the North is about 2000 kilometres. Even us Tanzanians we only know part of the Country not all. We have more than 120 Tribes and more than 200 languages spoken but Kiswahil has united us.

    The Bottom lines:
    1. Ugandans know that Tanzanians are good people
    2. Ugandans know that Tanzania is ruled democratically
    3. Nearly all the interviewees know the name of the sitting president.
    4. Ugandans know the capital City of Tanzania is Dodoma and not Dar-Es-Salaam.👍🏽
Thank you dear brothers & Sisters from Uganda, having that in our minds, we promise to continue making your Khalid Aucho and Gift Fred enjoy their 😅football ife here in🇹🇿😅
