    1. Nelson Mandela wrote in his autobiography, “Ethiopia always has a special place in my imagination and the prospect of visiting Ethiopia attracted me more strongly than a trip to France, England, and America combined. I felt I would be visiting my own genesis, unearthing the roots of what made me an African.”

But this was long ago and Ethiopia trained and supported Mandela, so of course he had a very special interest to the country. If he was still alive now, he would have been disappointed on what the country turned into.

I’m Ethiopian (born and raised in the United States). In undergrad, I had the opportunity to study abroad in China, London, Spain or Kenya. Of course, I chose Kenya. It was the greatest experience of my life.
It was truly a study abroad experience. I learned Swahili, learned how to make several Kenyan dishes, spent time in challenging communities and made lifelong friends. Very peaceful nation.
I love Ethiopia. I love being Ethiopian. Ethiopia is absolutely rich in history & culture, but we have a lot of unresolved issues that are internally established.

I've said it before: Kenya 🇰🇪 and Ethiopia 🇪🇹 are sister countries and the definition of good neighbours. In an extremely volatile region, these two countries have never had geopolitical tensions or gone war. Ethiopia even sheltered Kenyan freedom fighters from the British during colonial times. The only place where Kenyans and Ethiopians are in direct competition is on the running track.

Nairobi and Addis Ababa compliment each other so well. They are both beautiful safe cities that attract tourists and international organizations. The world's greatest marathoners actually come from Kenya and Ethiopia and these two countries can definitely take the sports culture in Africa to to greater levels. East African countries are very organized and seem to work well with each other for the common good. South Africa has already set the standards but If west Africa can learn from east Africa the continent will outshine Europe and America ten years from now. Instead of suffering in the west, the African diaspora should think about returning to Africa and in my opinion the best east African countries to move to are Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.

I think Ethiopia 🇪🇹 and Kenya 🇰🇪 finding each other is the revolution East Africa needed. Kenya was more focused towards Tanzania 🇹🇿 and Uganda 🇺🇬, which is good and not in the North. But the opening of Northern corridor, by former President Uhuru and prime minister Abiy, connecting Kenya 🇰🇪 and Ethiopia 🇪🇹 is a game changer. I pray for peace and unity in Ethiopia, and God bless East Africa and Africa.

What you've raised is intriguing and perfectly addressed. In addition, Addis falls far behind Nairobi in terms of infrastructure (connectivity, technology, transportation, health, sanitation, and so on) and justice. Addis Ababa is well-known for its diverse cultural mix from many Ethiopian regions. Nairobi, on the other hand, has a cosmopolitan culture with a blend of Kenyan, African, European, and Asian. In terms of business, Addis is reliant on the government, whereas Nairobi relies on local & multinational companies. Nairobi has made significant improvements in terms of safety, but Addis has lagged safety behind by the Nobel Prize winner. In terms of tourism attractions, Nairobi is still a quarter mile ahead of Addis Ababa unlike the case 10,000m running event. Evenif I live in Addis with beautiful parks and hyper inflation, my recommendation goes to Nairobi. I will come to Nairobi were William Ruto, an African leader, leads.

Addis is green too but Indeed Nairobi is greener. These are the green spaces in the city and collectively are over 30% of the land surface.
The city has more than 10 major public open spaces: Uhuru Park, Central Park, Jamuhuri fields, City Park Limuru road, Arboretum, Uhuru gardens, Jevanjee Gardens, Kamukunji and 5 forests areas (Karura,Ngong, Kibarage, Oloolua Nature Trails, Ngong hills). Many high end estates on the western side of the city are very green and are indeed known as 'leafy suburbs'.
You can drive to Runda, Roselyn, Red Hill, Kileleshwa, Spring Valley, Kyuna, Kitisuru, Nyari, Muthaiga, Parklands, Westlands, Riverside, State House Area, Lavington, Kilimani, Mountain View and the mother of all of them Karen, Mukoma etc. Also nearby areas of Kiambu and northern are Kajiado very green. Visit Thogoto, Limuru, Tigoni, Banana,Kamiti etc which are just 15-30 mins away from the main CBD.
Golf and polo courses are abundant Railways Golf Club, Nairobi Polo club, Royal Golf Club, Muthaiga, Limuru, Karen, Kiambu, Sigona, Parklands sports club, Windsor, Limuru, Vetlab etc. The many army and police barracks around and old schools also have very large green areas for a facility based in a major city. Same applies to many research facilities like ILRI, UoN, KU,UN Hqs in Gigiri sit on really large green spaces.

Your opinion about Ethiopia and Kenya should be appreciated as it is exactly what you understood when you were there. Especially regarding the Internet and conflict, what you have described about Ethiopia is the reality on the ground. The Ethiopian government believes that the only solution for every mistake it makes is to cut off the internet to suppress the voice of the citizens. This also makes the Ethiopian government different from the rest of the world as a country with an oppressive government. Anyways, you are my hero who I admire for describing the two countries in a comparative way. I wish to have more and more happiness!!!!!! Thank you!!
