I used to have the player’s guide for this game (not anymore because it fell apart) but I think I remember bowser’s level at toadley clinic being about level 14.
If you want a really "fun" challenge you can do a minimum xp on the remake. Giant battles dont give xp at all so you walk into blizzard midbus at lvl 6! It took me an hour of not being hit more than once and doing 40 dmg per turn with gomba storm. After that its pretty much the same run. Dark bowser did take me a few hours of planning but you can 1 phase dark core with some risky gear choices. If i find a cheap way to record my 3ds i might post the dark bowser fight. Happy to say though the special text is real and I got to see it.
Yeah, such is the side effect of how I chose to count my kills. I probably shouldn't have double-counted kills like that, but I think it made for a couple neat optimizations like the squid pipe.
@@CallenderMan Oh certainly, keeping the bros out of Bowser's kills was definitely the right decision, just that it might've helped if you kept a 'total kills' tally, not double-counting any.
I decided to try and beat the remake with the same rules. I'm currently at Blizzard Midbus with a lvl 6 Bowser (block monsiour and the giant battles don't give exp in the remake), and the max damage I can do per turn is 40, even after getting every bean. The remake requires exactly the same amount of kills though 5 are removed for the giant battles and block monsiour, but 5 are gained, 4 snawfuls and the Vacuum helmet
@@FuryJack07 yeah that's fair, but i do think bowser would wonder why the minions are still alive, as i think he has seen the minions die when the main boss was defeated, no?
The minimum kill count for Dream Team is around 27 by the way assuming you use glitches. 6 Grombas, 4 Smoldergeists, 10 drombas, 1 dreamy Mario, 2 thorbs, 3 capnaps, and 1 Pi’llodium. (You can kill 5 or so Boomerang Bros right before the Pi’llodium fight to level yourself up for obvious reasons but that’d drive the count up to 32). -Antasma doesn’t count since his first battle is the usual EXPless tutorial battle, and we can glitch our way past the 2nd fight with him at the end of the game. -Every normal boss from Grobot to Popple & Wiggler (and final Antasma like mentioned before) is skippable with glitches, as is every giant boss except for the Zeekeeper. However, the Zeekeeper doesn’t count since you don’t gain EXP from the giant battles. And he doesn’t actually, y’know, die.
Okay so you actually can skip Dreamy Mario and Smoldergeist, as well as the dreamy Gromba battle and gromba battle under Pi’illo castle with a glitch, and you can get the Pi’Illodium done with just 3 enemies (2 flying robot things and a bee guy) so that brings the kill count down to 11-14
@@ghost_ship_supreme I mean, yeah that’s true. But this is a mario game, if I took the word “kill” literally there would be almost none and there would be no challenge. It’s all just for fun, no big deal
I hope this has been said already, but wow the giant bowser fights would’ve been way easier if you used desmume, which has built in screen rotation setups as well as options for microphone hot keys or using a real mic :P
Commenting before getting into the video, I honestly assume that since there are no turn limited battles in the main story, as long as you're a good enough dodger, you could essentially do it pretty much without fighting any optional battles. You'd only be forced into the mandatory tutorial and boss battles.
Yeah there really isn't much as far as actually minimizing kills for most of the game (though Blizzard Midbus was a pain). A lot of the fun is pushing gameplay at a low level and my dumb sense of humor
i did something like that with equipping the challenge medal as soon as possible At the end i ended up with 2 or 3 more levels than without the medal (spoiler: it’s 17)
My favorite game of all time. Great vid. I totally got stuck on the carrot game for a LONG time when i was a kid lol. i don't remember how long i was stuck on it (days, weeks?) but one day i just did it flawlessly with plenty of time left and i was like. oh. Also melonDS (at least on pc) has a screen layout rotate feature and the mic should work flawlessly.
Well there are some kills missing: Giant Battle vs Bowsers Castle: Killing the Shy Guys in the Airship as Counter Attacks + killing the hordes of spinies spawning Giant Battle vs Fawful Express: 2x destroying the Mountain it hides in + 3x the Montey Moles in the express
My brother did this sort of challenge with mario and luigi dream team, but he called it being underleveled but that was so many years ago and there was no way for him to record it anyway even if he wanted to, i don't know how he did it but he was able to do it, it's just the bosses took a super long time, i don't remember if he said if he defeated the final boss but it doesn't matter anyway, it was a waste of time... admirable dedication but for nothing in the end.
I know it wasn't nessary in the end when you fought blizzard midbus but i expected you to atleast try and collect all the Blittys for Broggy attack before playing the whole game again.
I originally recorded a segment regarding Broggy that I chose not to add, but essentially getting all the blitties would've added kills because of the coal goomba thing. When you inhale it to get the blitty, you always inhale the little coal things, which forces the Bros to kill them.
I feel like “they don’t give exp so they don’t count as a kill” is like. Really against the spirit of a “kill as little as possible” run? Like I know it only amounts to making boss fights slightly more tricky but. Idk. That’s the run man. Deal. A kill is a kill. Just cuz you killed some man on the street and he didnt have anything in his wallet doesn’t mean you didnt kill him lol.
@soupcube5962 There’s no appeasing everyone. I didn’t go by exp in the superstar saga run and I got a bunch of comments saying that most things don’t count as kills because most people don’t actually die in the games. I decided that counting exp is the best way to empirically decide a kill. If you don’t like that, feel free to do the challenge yourself. It’s not particularly difficult, and these videos are more about the comedy than the challenge anyway.
Recently i played this game and maxed out stache/horns, i got 130~ (L) and 110~ (M) stache while bowser just a bit over 100, i crit more often than normal damage
4:22 am I the only one who thinks double counting an enemy Bowser swallows because the Bros get exp is insane? If mario and Luigi fight one enemy inside bowser, that wouldn't be a kill for each Mario and Luigi- it's one kill for the one enemy they both participated in fighting. It's not suddenly a new enemy because it moved from outside to inside, it's just Bowser+ the Bros all participating in the same fight

Okay so you actually can skip Dreamy Mario and Smoldergeist, as well as the dreamy Gromba battle and gromba battle under Pi’illo castle with a glitch, and you can get the Pi’Illodium done with just 3 enemies (2 flying robot things and a bee guy) so that brings the kill count down to 11-14
Considering the Mario Bros’ kill count, I’m curious how many of those are actual enemies vs stuff in Bowser’s microbiome, lmao
At this point you’re not counting kills, you’re counting EXP increases
@@ghost_ship_supreme I mean, yeah that’s true. But this is a mario game, if I took the word “kill” literally there would be almost none and there would be no challenge. It’s all just for fun, no big deal
@@CallenderMan"EXP is a acronym. It stands for EXecution Points".

Sans is here to say it
Never understood how anyone ever had trouble with the carrot mini game. It's super easy.
I always lost my stylus as a kid, so I'd always miss the piece I was trying to hit lol
I hope this has been said already, but wow the giant bowser fights would’ve been way easier if you used desmume, which has built in screen rotation setups as well as options for microphone hot keys or using a real mic :P
Desmume was what I switched to when doing the giant battles, I just kinda forgot that you needed microphone access in the game.
@@CallenderMan well I’m glad that you didn’t finish the game with the wacky retro arch setup you pulled off!
A lot of the fun is pushing gameplay at a low level and my dumb sense of humor
i did something like that with equipping the challenge medal as soon as possible
At the end i ended up with 2 or 3 more levels than without the medal (spoiler: it’s 17)
Good thing I plan on getting a Capture Card installed on my 3DS...
My favorite game of all time. Great vid. I totally got stuck on the carrot game for a LONG time when i was a kid lol. i don't remember how long i was stuck on it (days, weeks?) but one day i just did it flawlessly with plenty of time left and i was like. oh. Also melonDS (at least on pc) has a screen layout rotate feature and the mic should work flawlessly.
>hearted then immediately unhearted
sad
@@dcozombieloverr7115 Don't know why it unhearted lol. Maybe because you edited the comment?
nah, nah. i edited it as i was watching the vid. I think it was youtube tomfoolery. all good@@CallenderMan
The voice crack at the start 😂😂
Well there are some kills missing:
Giant Battle vs Bowsers Castle:
Killing the Shy Guys in the Airship as Counter Attacks + killing the hordes of spinies spawning
Giant Battle vs Fawful Express:
2x destroying the Mountain it hides in +
3x the Montey Moles in the express
None of those individually give EXP as far as I'm aware, which was my one requirement for something to count as a kill.
Glad one of my favorite games is still played
Lore of Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story Minimum Kill Challenge Momentum 100
My brother did this sort of challenge with mario and luigi dream team, but he called it being underleveled but that was so many years ago and there was no way for him to record it anyway even if he wanted to, i don't know how he did it but he was able to do it, it's just the bosses took a super long time, i don't remember if he said if he defeated the final boss but it doesn't matter anyway, it was a waste of time... admirable dedication but for nothing in the end.
Well, I'll be doing this challenge for Dream Team eventually...
well, se you guys in two years for the dream team episode :)
Hey man, where have you been? :(
Don’t worry, I’m not gone. Just haven’t had a whole lotta time for TH-cam this past year
Isnt the first inside bowser area trash pit? I thought gut check was the area for the carrot minigame?
Huh, I somehow never noticed that I mixed up those two
@@CallenderMan lol it's all good, I wasn't sure or not myself just wanted to double check.
Lets go he’s back with another great video
Yea that carrot minigame brings back memories haha
The vacuum shrink was the first weird mushroom before the weird mushroom in super Mario maker was the weird mushroom.
Yeah, I get what you mean. I probably shouldn't have double counted, but I thought it made for cool optimizations like the squid pipe.
16:32 wait somebody who's not living in czech or it's neighbouring countries knows it exists?
You mean trash pit?
I did indeed mean trash pit. I somehow never caught that mistake 😅
This is just me playing the game as a kid cause i was too impatient for battles
I Just noticed that Bowser Inside Story predicted covid with blorbs
Literally my first playthrough
I would always get magic window before junkbot and then use it to defeat it in 2-3 turns although I was appropriately leveled when I did it
I like this series. Are you going to continue with dream team and paper jam?
Are you gonna do this type of run with SMRPG?
I'd have to actually play SMRPG first, but with the existence of the remake I might try it. M&L series is my top priority tho.
24:54 Should have just called him Blizbus.
Missed opportunity Alphadream!
I for one love mario pinball land
I never said it was a bad game, I honestly though it was quite charming
In the blizzard Midbus battle, why didnt you use Fury?
Because to this day I have no idea what triggers it lol
THE RETURN OF THE KING!!!
Hi ,I’m french and I just noticed that broque monsieur is a stereotype of a french in the English version
However in the french version of the game broque Monsieur is a stereotype of a British man
I didn’t knew about that I found that kinda funny
That's awesome! I love localization tweaks like that
You aren't completely crazy cause in the remakes it is called bros points so your bp joke still works
Wonder if you ever tried to get Bowser into *Fury* state to make Blizzard Midbus easier.
I could never really figure out how to get him into fury. Nothing I could find actually said what criteria was needed for fury, I always just thought it was random.
@@CallenderMan broque monsieur says it's something about getting attacked multiple times, but the fury fangs description says "makes you more likely to get furious" implying that it's random.
I love this game
