  • Cafe Racer Suzuki GS 750 Motorcycle Build Wiring Aftermarket Digital Tachometer. The GS was lacking a tachometer, so I decided to install an aftermarket digital 2 into 1 speedometer and tachometer. A run though for the complete process, wiring in the cables and where to pick up the tachometer signal wire.

    Thanks for the info. Did you connect the fuel/oil gauge and how? Thank you!

    What did you use to get electronic rpm signal? What kind of sensor? My 78 gs750 had a rpm cable

      Explained in the video

    Hi thanks for sharing im doing the same but with a gs500 dont you need to attach both signals in order to get proper rpm? I did conct just to one coil as you did Cuz im waiting for the diodes to come Up on the mail but was wondering if i can just pick the Signal Up from just one coil did your bike actually do a good reading on the tachometer? Thanks

      Good job on the diodes, I didnt fit any and had issues with the dial and LEDS at high revs. I looked into fitting resistors but it started to get overcrowded with wiring in the lamp so I removed it all and went for single speedo unit with everything housed in the unit. little more costly but sorted the issues.

    I have a 1982 yamah xj650, My bike had a tech cable so how do I wire the the wire for it to read rpms on my old bike

      Should be the same as the video. Wire the aftermarket dial rpm signal wire to the supply wire (primary side) of one of the ignition coils.

      They where an Ebay purchase, LED warning lights. Many different warning symbols and styles to choose from.

    Question. Where’d you get the bucket? And is it a 7” bucket?

    Was hoping this would work on my 81 but sadly it won’t. They must’ve changed the 70s model and 80s. Time to dig back into it lol. Also in the process of making some rear set brackets based off your design so thank you for that! Got the bike running a few weeks ago (vid on Channel 🤫😂) now just cleaning up and finishing wiring etc! Actually have the same speedometer!

      I believe the 80s wiring harness to be safer, for all the different circuitry on the the 70s GS there is only 1 fuse protecting the whole system, seems crazy to me.
      Nice build, challenging/fun riding in that snow :)

    Hey man. Nice work! I am currently doing my own project on a gs550l from 81. I was wondering if you could let me know how you closed the old position of your mechanical rpm line. Did you just reuse the bracket and plug? Then closed it with welding? I have been wondering but didnt find any information on the web. Looking forward to next videos! Videos like these and from others are a major help to me.

      @dtaylo4517  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I used the original plug, just removed the internals, roughened the inner bore cleaned up then filled with JB weld, believe there is good shot of it in the start up vid to the GS.
