Nothing like an end-of-year channel recap to really put into perspective how much work gets put into this channel for our benefit. Thanks, Tim! See you in the new year!
It's hard to visualise how much work that must have been without a title like this. 26 monitors (with at least 4 days per monitor?) is like half the work days of the year before vacations. Mad props.
I bought the Alienware AW3423DW based on your reviews and I couldn't be happier. I only use it on my gaming PC, and I don't game a lot... But when I do, it is just amazing!
I was going to get that but I ended up buying the M34WQ instead due to the price, i got mine for under $400, compared to AW's $1200, just not worth it getting into UW gaming/WFH display. I also saw quite a few Alienware returns at BB and Micro when shopping.
Ordered the DWF after all the praises. Called the Dell support after 2 days of using it because of the ridiculous fan noises. Got a replacement, same issue. Also the color fringing is very noticeable in office use cases. Sorry but that Monitor is just not worth 1k imo.
100% agreed. With the C2 At $799 I got an additional 5year full warranty from Best Buy which includes burn in for $159 additional. If I don’t get burn in in 5 years it’s still great, because if I get even one dead pixel I will wait till 4 years to get my c2 replaced by Best Buy. On a serious note, the c2 42in has been immersive af. I love the work you guys do man. Both my m27q and lg c2 have been some of the best purchases I have made. Even after I got my 3080 at launch I barely played games, but after getting the c2 movies and games have been a treat. Now I’m into racing sims because the c2s made the visuals just that immersive
I took advantage of that recent 42" C2 sale as well. It's the most immersive gaming display I've ever used. I didn't think that I would like the large form factor, but I absolutely love it.
For me in Canada, the Alianware DWF was like $200-$400 cheaper than the c2 during Christmas sales, i got it ~16.5% off MSRP with free shipping and it arrived in perfect condition after a few delays! Love it!
I'm also interested in seeing how much large count FALD mini led, and other technologies trying to mimic OLED performance advance. Unless burn in mitigation somehow gets even better. I would really love to get a 42" OLED, but I would want to run some games in 3840x1600 21x9, and that would be a bad idea with the burn in risk, I'm thinking.
Good video. My only complaint is the 27gp950 gets the bad end of the deal here seeing as how it is one of the few (maybe only) 27 inch monitor flat panel with that large of a color gamut. Which is a game changer for those of us who both game and do color sensitive productivity work.
Yeah I really wanted to love the C2 especially with it being only $8-900 but couldn’t get over the max 120 max frames so ended up going with the DW and love it so far. Wish they made C2 at 165+ HZ
@G Money lol if you say so man. I have a 3090 so no not a 4090. I don’t like being locked at 120 to me I would rather have be future proof. Also I have a 77 inch CX I use for console gaming so I know what 120 feels like and when I play Warzone or apex it feels much smoother on 165-175 but again we can disagree. For me personally I didn’t love having the tv as my monitor don’t like the auto dimming didn’t like surfing web on the C2 again it’s a tv not a monitor which isn’t terrible but it bugged me and I personally just didn’t like feeling locked at 120 fps so in a year or so if I do want to upgrade to 4090 or 5090 in 2 years I’m not capped at the 120. Also super dumb thing but it annoyed me was I really hate when I turn on my Lg c2 and it turns on my 77 inch LG CX cus they are both in same room as my desk so the dumb Ir sensor turns on both lol since it’s in my bedroom same as my CX. Trust me as someone who bought the 42 C2 for only $868 after tax since it was on sale for $799 during holidays I wanted to love it I wanted to be super happy and satisfied as the DW cost me about $1300 after tax so I wanted to try and justify any way I could loving C2 as it was legit over $450 savings but just didn’t like it as monitor.
So basically the neo g8 is the best monitor currently available if you get one without scanlines. No other monitor competes with it so really it's s+ tier! Mine has the faintest lines on blues and orange that you literally have to pixel peep to see so honestly it doesn't bother me in the slightest when you consider the 240 hz refresh rate at that sweet 4k resolution. Nothing else can compete with that on the market today.
I purchased the LG 32GQ950-B in mid October from Amazon for $899.00 and I absolutely love it. I see it on sale on Amazon today for $900.00 shipped from Amazon but sold by another vendor.
Needed an update this year for everything - Games, Productivity and Movies. So I bought the C2 and the DWF. Overall the right choice (luckily I have no issue with the sub pixel layout), but I think, I wouldn't mind losing 42 inch and 4K, to have two DWF's on the desk. Despite the horrible Fannoise one or two times a day, imo the DWF is clearly better in handling my needs. Great thanks to Monitor Unboxed! You've helped me a lot over the last few months. :)
Really surprised that the AW3423DW didn't make it into S-tier. Tim consistently spoke about it as the best monitor throughout the year and in one of his comparisons even gave it the edge over the C2.
It's just the price. I do think the successor to this will be an S-Tier monitor, something with 240Hz refresh rate and DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 or 600. There will be basically nothing on the market to compete with it. Even now the AW3423DW has no real competitor but the C2 does make a very good offering in comparison since the refresh rate is close and the HDR performance tends to be better. All you miss out on is Ultrawide, but most content is better in 16:9 for games anyways. Some games have poor ultrawide support.
Tim is more than a bit inconsistent in how he chooses to weigh his ranking measures. PG27AQN withstanding, he clearly has a bias for value, I've no idea how he managed to put that into S even if it deserves to be there. But he'll drop a product's rank for having minor flaws even if he's spent months praising it, while ignoring flaws in other products and raise their rank because they are cheaper than a competing product. Even if said competing product doesn't have those flaws.
Yeah I don't like weighing price that much in any reviews. I'm a keen shopper, everything goes on sale and can be stacked with promos. I got a AW3423DWF for $993 Canadian after rebates clear just last month.
I just really wish these companies had representatives watching these kinds of reviews to help their marketing departments. I know pricing isn't as simple as charging for what you are selling compared to what everyone else is. But man, the number of monitors that dropped categories (multiple) because of pricing alone.
Do not forget that the HP X27q from the reviewers and the one that is sold in the store are 2 different monitors. The reviewers had a monitor on an LG matrix, but they sell us to ordinary users with a BOE matrix. I was the owner of this monitor and I constantly had this monitor buggy: during switching on, off or coming out of sleep, the screen could start flickering, in order to get rid of this, it was necessary to turn the monitor on and off.
@@shrimpslushi5781 I went with 240hz because I play a lot of FPS games. 170hz is PLENTY for literally every game out there. Only go 240 if you're a FPS nut, otherwise it's completely wasted. Save your money.
@@shrimpslushi5781 I think the graphics card is most important. I'm not sure the eye can even tell the difference between 170 vs 240. Mine is 170 and 4k down looks great. Save your money and put into upgrades on PC. But I'm just a PS2 player.
Great video Tim! There is alot of talk in forums about the new Samsung g8 OLED and how it compares to to the Alienware AW3423DW. They use the same panel but the Samsung monitor brings som new features like HDR 10+ and a neo quantum processor. Meanwhile some argue that the AW3423DW has better HDR performance due to the G-Sync module. So people are uncertain on if the G8 OLED is the new ultimate HDR monitor, and therefore dethroning the AW3423DW. For now there are no reviews for the samsung G8 OLED in english, and i know many people, myself included, would greatly appreciate it if you could consider making a review for the Samsung g8 OLED. Keep up the great work :)
HEY TIM. The Asus PG42UQ is still having major issues with its HDR. It's been ruined since firmware V032 and still is not fixed with V033. Really hope you see this and retest as Rtings have updated their review since the latest firmware V033 late November. They noted in their HDR color gamut section how bad the color mapping is when the screen receives a Windows or console HDR signal. SDR currently kills HDR on this monitor and the Win 11 calibration tool makes things look significantly worse. Would you consider reaching out to Asus please?
uber expensive and not performing well? that's tough man, I don't really like Asus's products due to their pricing. I mean they're cool as innovations but the prices are always way too high
@@MrStranger1944 where did you read this please? Because they did state that V033 was supposed to fix the issue, but it didn't and there has been no updates since. I have been in touch with support and they are reporting no known issues with the HDR and have asked for my monitor for an RMA. It goes back to Asus next week.
@@destroy-erase-improve9106 It's right there on RTings. Go to "our verdict" and then the HDR tab. It's the last sentence. The ASUS support people are pretty inept from my experience so it's no surprise they aren't aware that the issue is known to the technical experts who fix this sort of thing.
Awesome recap! Helped so much for a confused potential buyer. I'm still disappointed not many 34" choices out there. Hope in coming 2023 more 34-43" releases.
Im always amazed by your hard work and this tier list is just further proof of all the absolutely amazing work you guys put in the channel... Also thank you very much for this tier list... I'm slowly looking to add a new screen to my setup and I want it to be a budget/value 1440p screen... once they get into my budget range these videos are the absolute best!!!!
Amazing work this year Tim. What an epic and thorough amount of testing, even if my monitor started in the A tier and ended up in the C tier. 🤣 Great job!
I'm hoping for a c3 with 144/160hz and glossy coating. Good extras would 1 DP terminal and lower size, 36'/32 inches for instance. One thing that I do not tolerate in OLED panels is the lack of a glossy screen cover.
I think tier lists would be more useful if we left price out of ranking consideration. Consumer Reports here in the US adds two badges to their rankings: “recommended” and “best buy”. Lots of top-ranked stuff fails to get recommendations based on durability or owner satisfaction. You could do the same with price.
Finally decided to buy a monitor and went for the M27Q P. Asides from having good performance, the KVM feature is what sold me over other monitors in the same price range. The speakers are also a bonus even though it's bad, I use them to hear notifications or play some background music when I'm not in front of the PC. For someone who doesn't have speakers, it's better than nothing.
I love these Ranking Walls! I hope youre going to do these frequently if more monitors comes out and maybe you devide these videos to "4K Monitors Ranking", "QHD Ranking" etc :)
Excellent review, it is indeed very difficult to rank, since these tier levels will drastically change depending on what the user is looking for in a monitor.
Completely agree with C2 being S tier. Despite its 120 hz limit: for the 800 dollars price you basically get the best tech available and insane picture performance compared to most other monitors, full HDMI 2.1 Support and its also a complete solution for watching movies and other stuff as well. Great offer atm
@@TheBlazingRiver What price is DWF tho? where im located in Northern Europe its not even available and LG C2 is on a big sale now so it kinda comes down to availability unless you by it from Ebay/amazon
people shouldn't care that it's 120hz. That feels as responsive as a 165hz LCD. I'm really tired of 'gamers' pretending to be professional E-Sport 'athletes'.
Still find it weird that he called 120hz a “low” refresh rate when the standard in most screens is still 60hz weather people like that or not… Of course I wouldn’t go back to a 60hz screen nowadays, but it’s still the standard used in almost everything that isn’t gaming oriented( which is most screens)… Besides, 120hz OLED is VERY responsive and way better than LCD! 120hz OLED with BFI can feel better than 240hz LCD to me personally! And well at least for me, 120-144hz is all I need for my gaming needs… I would upgrade to 240hz in the future tho eventually once they get more affordable and in 4K options. But even then…120hz will still feel good enough for me regardless. I’m not a multiplayer gamer, so 240hz makes no sense to me…but still I do think it’s the endgame for me personally as I don’t need any more than that…240hz is nice for general computer usage for me.
I own both the C2 and PG42UQ. I used the C2 for about 5 months as my main monitor and replaced it with the PG42UQ. The C2 is a better value but not a better monitor than the PG42UQ, especially with the new v40 firmware. Some people love the glossy screen but when using it as a monitor any light behind you turns into a reflective distraction. Not to mention tweaking XMP profiles with the C2 and sitting there wondering if your PC is going to post but then realizing your TV isn’t turned on.
Alienware DWF finally fixed their issues via firmware updates and is currently on sale for $900. That's a promotion to S tear and a buy from me. Thanks unboxed team, your hard work and advice helped me choose a monitor knowing next to nothing about 3 weeks ago
It would be nice if you check up the Acer Nitro XV272U KV. It might be a solid contender against M27Q-P but available in some more regions. It's available for 290$ here with 18% GST. While M27Q-P is not planned to be released here. Wonder how close they are.
Just got an open box 48" c2 at an incredible price. I have a nice deep desk set up. I sit about 4ft away from the screen, feels like the sweet spot. Absolutely love it.
I bought that Acer XB273U monitor when it came out and it still performs well. I also just recently bought an LG C2 42. It is nice too for different reasons. The main difference is that the LG OLED does HDR awesome, but the Acer does 240 Hz which destroys the LG in competitive gaming. I found myself going back and forth between the two and I eventually had to go back to the Acer. It was a tough choice because I do like the OLED, but I spend most of my time gaming with this setup and my Acer delivers the goods. Just my experience.
I really hope you end up reviewing the KTC H27T22, which is an 27" 1440p 165Hz monitor that costs below 300€! I've heard great things about it, with people often comparing it to the more expensive LG 27GP850-B. Seems to be a fantastic budget option, so yeah...here's hoping for a review soon!
Bought the AW3423DW, don't hear the fan noise but its saying that the blacks turn grey when there is light on it. And coming from a LG C1 (it was to big for me) the picutere quality wasnt as impressive as I hoped. Still the best monitor but I think the smaller 42 inch C2 was the way to go this year.
@@kubasniak i was thinking about the AW too, but coming from lggn950b 4k144hz i could not bring myself to step down to 1440p even if it is qd-oled, so i will wait for qd-oled 4k monitors (not tvs)
My issues with the alienware: it's not 4k, so yeah it's an upgrade over my current QHD but that's a lot of money for just oled. I'm also not a fan of ultrawide. I'd prefer a 120hz 4k panel. Honestly I would go for the c2 if it was 38in and just floor mount behind my desk, the 42 is just too big. Fingers crossed for 32" OLED in 2023. Hopefully it's sub $1000.
M27Q X looks good but the Amazon reviews and youtube comments on it regarding the absence of quality control really make it seem like such a gamble which I'm reluctant to take.
@Monitors Unboxed in a Q&A can you talk about what monitors you know of will be hitting the market in 2023, in particular 32" one's with exceptional 4k, HDR, dimming zones & refresh rates. Looking forward to the market finally having a bit of variety and competition.
Great video; only nit pick is that the C2 is a TV not a monitor, and that should definitely count as a negative against it when making a monitor ranking. Would love to, at some point see a video of tier ranking monitors purely by performance ignoring price (particularly considering the big variations by region) without the limitation of the year!
I owned a few monitors from this list last year and for me the SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7 S28 4K is the CLEAR winner! Compared to the similar LG or Gigabyte, the Samsung feels amazingly smooth and fast with G-Sync. I had these side by side, but honestly after trying the Samsung I didn't want to even look at the LG or Gigabyte 4K... Interesting, but the image also more sharp, detailed and accurate on the Samsung Odyssey. If you want all-in-one productivity and gaming screen look no further. (OLED still not convinced me, VA panels still have weird issues.)
I got the Aw342dw in November, and confirmed via serial and factory calibration documentation that it was a newly minted one, the firmware and fan noise issues are resolved. I love it, but I am disappointed you have to run it 144hz for true HDR because of DP 1.4 limitations. Probably its biggest flaw.
I swapped out my lg c2 42 for the neo g8 on black Friday for $900 and feel I made the right choice. C2 was still slightly too big for my desk and I wanted to stay 4k, otherwise I would have bought the aw3423dw.
Don't tell me that. My C2 comes tomorrow. I had the Neo G7. However, it came with a ton of dead pixels. I had to return it, and it was no longer on sale for $999. Then, the C2 went on sale for $850. I have plenty of space in my office. I need a new desk anyway. Im going to buy a desk with a 31.5" depth to it. I'm really hoping I like this "monitor." If the size is too big, I'll just return it and try my luck again with the G7. I really want to pair something nice with my new 4090 build I just did. I treated myself to a new build. My old PC is about 7 years old. Just finished nursing school and got a new job. I figured I deserved it.
Thanks for all the hard work! I don't mean to be a hater but I really struggle with the idea of putting the C2 at the top as S tier when its becoming clear at this point it has big burn in issues after a few years of use. Unless your made of money and can replace it, surely a monitor no matter how good can't be top if you have to replace it in a couple of years
i own LG C2 42.. and this Boy is also Great in Windows.. when u activated HDR its just insane Desktop in HDR.. i never seen that before.. and i had many good Monitors .. LG C2 is clearly the Winner. 10/10
I've been rebuilding my computer this year. Now I got an i5-13600k, and a 4080. Now it's time to start learning about monitors! I'm thinking my budget will be around 1,000-1,500 in March
Ok, I watched the video. Looks like I'll be setting my sights on a Neo G7! I like this channel, because he collects Lego! I had to take a break from Lego, because I ran out of space, so instead of spending my monthly budget on Lego, I've just transferred it to buying computer parts.
I've had the Neo g8 about 2 weeks and it's awesome no scan lines or anything, I use it for my series x and pc gaming. Just one issue is the viewing angles but you play head on anyway
Same, I've had the Neo G8 since it released, and I've never seen any scan-lines or had any problems like they mentioned on their review (The Unboxed team still do some of the best reviews on the internet even if we disagree with them this time). That being said, I have heard of bad panels being out there so maybe we just lucked out.
I just bought Neo G7 when I opened it looks like was on display or open box so I didn't turn it on I'm going to return it in a few hours (fk best buy) 🙉😡 bad luck
Thanks for all your videos on Monitors this year. Its been super helpful. Out of all the hardware I am most excited to see where monitors go in 2023, the X32Q I bought this year seems to be a solid choice before I drop some real bank on the "Ultimate Monitor" whatever I decide that to be. :-)
If the grey bars were a gradient from- bright green to bright red left to right, yellow in the middle, with more spacing if necessary, you could place all the monitors in terms of there performance strictly to tier, but also place them in their appropriate fine value for their money, green to red (recommended zone). So the c2 would fall farthest left in bright green of A, while the other A tiers would be in the yellow/orange zone a middle or so.
I got 32" Acer Predator XB323UGX 270Hz QHD "0,5ms" monitor for almost half the price of 32" LG UltraGear32GQ950-B. I hope to see more competition around 32" size in next 2 years to justify upgrading to 4K monitor. Considering the current price of 32" LG UltraGear32GQ950-B that I paid just $200 less for 55" Sony A83J OLED 120Hz 4K TV with Google TV OS, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support year ago - I am not paying almost the same for 32" IPS monitor.
I'm a huge HDR head. I've gone through 4 Neo G7's and have had 6+ dead pixel clusters *on each one* and one had a dead backlight zone, I don't typically buy Samsung but I thought they would've had a higher standard. Acer never came out with a proper successor to the Predator X27 but I'm giving up on getting these swapped out and going back to my X27 until a better OLED comes out that I can also use for productivity work for my day job.
Good idea for a video. Not as useful as a webpage with the proper information, but I know that when I bought a new monitor a couple of months back (and while not alone your my main tech source) I had to rewatch a lot of videos I already watched way back just to find a few key elements to orient my choice (usually just a yes/no to srgb clamp, single overdrive, overall image quality, and a few things beside the basic trio size-pixels-Hz) to feed a spreadsheet. Not the most practical or user friendly thing.
It's worth noting the AW3423DW still has firmware issues with the current firmware MOB102. I've just had mine replaced due to pixel refresh issues and the screen intermittently turning off during content consumption. mine was also a july 22 build
Nice list, although QD-Oleds don't pose nearly the same risk of burn in as regular oleds do. The biggest complaint on the alienware QDOLED is definitely the fan noise. The pixel layout is at least a software adoptibility issue and will eventually get resolved. Very nice S tier though !
2 comments: First, I think to consider the price in your judgement is not good (like for the LG 27GP950), because the price can change with time and region. You can assume that everybody can compute and add that as weight in his/her own decision. Second, you could use colums as well to visually organise the chart even more, either for resolution or screen size. So let's say there would be 2 columns, one for 1440p and the other for 4K. Maybe you could even add another 2 columns for the ultrawide variants.
Are things so different in Australia in regard to pricing and availability? The Gigabyte M27Q-X is ranked S tier in this list largely due to it being a value proposition. When the MSI MAG274QRX was reviewed it was specifically referred to as being BETTER then the M27Q-X but was ranked into a lower tier due to it being more expensive. Here in the states I show the M27Q-X selling for $599.99 US (clearly a price gouging scalper) and being out of stock everywhere else. Meanwhile the MAG274QRX is being sold at $549.99 US. Obviously I can flip the tiers for myself and buy the better reviewed product that is currently selling for a cheaper price point. I am just curious if what I am seeing in regard to the M27Q-X is regional or not and if the price will fall back to normal soon.
I'm surprised at the GP27U. I figured that'd be an A tier if not for the flickering concern. I get ours in to test this week so I'm going to try it out on as many games as I can and see if I can pick it up
This ranking doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There's too many different sizes and resolutions. Plus he's including value in the ranking as well so it's not just performance. Based on feedback, not many people are experience flickering during regular use, so if you're not getting flickering, it moves up on the list based on overall performance.
You guys turned me on to the Alienware (F model) and I've nearly pulled the trigger, but then CES happened... looking forward to what you'll teach me in 2023!
The MSI and Samsung model that use the same panel won't be much of an improvement over the Alienware model, and they both will come in at a much higher cost. Furthermore, there is one thing they don't appear to have that the Alienware one does... and that is a 3 year warranty that includes burn in damage. This is a huge incentive compared to the others. Ideally buy it from the Dell website. You probably won't see much better than the Alienware Oled monitors for 2023, especially at their price point. That said, I have the DWF model, and its great.
This was great..... could you do an adjustment to the tier list for all new moniter reviews in the future. Just an adjustment and link in description fir original tier list for newcomers??...
I got an Acer Predator X28 back in August for $1259 and love it. Only issue is the 152hz overclock is buggy and causes the monitor to lose signal due to there something being wrong with how the monitor and PC connect. I'm super surprised at the lack of attention this monitor has had, considering it's a nice 28 inch 4k 144hz (152hz overclock), with G-Sync Ultimate and has pretty good colours, it's only HDR 400 so not worth using, but it looks absolutely stunning

“I think it’s a well deserved F tier for that product” absolutely brutal from Tim on this 😂😂
100% agreed. With the C2 At $799 I got an additional 5year full warranty from Best Buy which includes burn in for $159 additional. If I don’t get burn in in 5 years it’s still great, because if I get even one dead pixel I will wait till 4 years to get my c2 replaced by Best Buy.

I can't wait until the end of 2023 when we are discussing more OLED gaming monitors!!
Great work Tim, keep it up!!
yep, I'm expecting the new OLEDs to absolutely kill it next year

I effin love my DWF 🥰
Yeah I really wanted to love the C2 especially with it being only $8-900 but couldn’t get over the max 120 max frames so ended up going with the DW and love it so far. Wish they made C2 at 165+ HZ
@@JustStay16 C3 should be that I hope. But it won't be $800-$1000 to start with.
LG is getting OLED 1440p 240hz which it's gonna be insane
i am more amazed at how he remembers ALL the monitors' different strong and weak points.
The glossy coating on the AW3423DW looks great imo. I do not ever want to go back to a matte coating
@@NANOTECHYT The PG27AQN is $1049 for 1000:1 contrast ratio and it gets S tier?
@@andrewmorris3479 Take it up with Monitors Unboxed, not me lol. You think I made this ranking?
This is one great ranking, great job, Tim! Full of well explained and reasoned assessments. Happy 2023 to all HU!
Thanks for all the time spent over 2022.. happy new year. cheers.
I've been very happy with my Gigabyte M27QX. It's nice to see it's still in the S tier. I bought it on Tim's advice.
👍👍I just got one on eBay for $220. Still best for my lack of money
Do you have the 170hz or 240hz? There is a $300 price difference on Amazon right now and don’t know what to go with
@@shrimpslushi5781 I went with 240hz because I play a lot of FPS games.
Great to see G7 S28 on A, best purchase I did this year! Certainly very good value.
Keep up the great work :)
me too. awaiting their review on this.
I was able to get a Neo G7 on Black Friday + a student discount for 700$. Absolutely the best thing I could get around that price
Was just reading this review on Rtings today. Pretty disappointing stuff, and I made a different purchase as a result.
uber expensive and not performing well? that's tough man, I don't really like Asus's products due to their pricing. I mean they're cool as innovations but the prices are always way too high
ASUS has said there should be an eventual firmware update to fix this.
I've been rocking the 42" C2 as my PC monitor with an RTX 3090 for a few months now and dear lord it's glorious
Thanks for these videos on monitors. I’m lost without them. Happy new year
Im always amazed by your hard work and this tier list is just further proof of all the absolutely amazing work you guys put in the channel...
Agree. Would not buy an oled with a matte coating period
I think tier lists would be more useful if we left price out of ranking consideration. Consumer Reports here in the US adds two badges to their rankings: “recommended” and “best buy”. Lots of top-ranked stuff fails to get recommendations based on durability or owner satisfaction. You could do the same with price.
My thought exactly. Factoring the price destroys this review and make it kind of useless…
Spot on, imagine how stupid it would be to give an F tier monitor S tier just because you could get it for $1.
One thing that I can't find an answer for is how much of a difference the HDR tracking between the dw/dwf models actually makes.
Excellent review, it is indeed very difficult to rank, since these tier levels will drastically change depending on what the user is looking for in a monitor.
Really appreciating your work Tim in providing reliable content in this space. Kudos.
Please could you use a 2 Ranking tables next time. One performance based and one value based. This way the ranking will be more straighforward.
M27Q X is close to 800USD here. M27Q Pro disappeared a few months ago. Feels bad man.
I got a Samsung Neo G8 cheap for $900 US and so far enjoying it.
The quality of videos you guys make are absurd! keep it up!
Completely agree with C2 being S tier. Despite its 120 hz limit: for the 800 dollars price you basically get the best tech available and insane picture performance compared to most other monitors, full HDMI 2.1 Support and its also a complete solution for watching movies and other stuff as well. Great offer atm
Tbh DWF smacks it out of the water
@@TheBlazingRiver What price is DWF tho? where im located in Northern Europe its not even available and LG C2 is on a big sale now so it kinda comes down to availability unless you by it from Ebay/amazon
people shouldn't care that it's 120hz. That feels as responsive as a 165hz LCD. I'm really tired of 'gamers' pretending to be professional E-Sport 'athletes'.
Still find it weird that he called 120hz a “low” refresh rate when the standard in most screens is still 60hz weather people like that or not…
Of course I wouldn’t go back to a 60hz screen nowadays, but it’s still the standard used in almost everything that isn’t gaming oriented( which is most screens)…
Besides, 120hz OLED is VERY responsive and way better than LCD!
120hz OLED with BFI can feel better than 240hz LCD to me personally!
And well at least for me, 120-144hz is all I need for my gaming needs…
I would upgrade to 240hz in the future tho eventually once they get more affordable and in 4K options.
OLED is simply game changing & $800 is a steal for a 42in C2 glossy panel.
solid rankings, I'll probably keep this 👽 DWF for years to come
It would be nice if you check up the Acer Nitro XV272U KV.
Very helpful Tim thank you! Happy New Year
God tier thumbnail. Love your videos, man
Looking at the others in A tier, imo Alienware's OLEDs deserved S tier.
Thank you. I will definitely go look at some of the A and S tier for my monitor
I got it 2 days ago... went from benq TN and AOC IPS panel to this. No fan noise at all.
I'm veeery impressed with image quality.
@@kubasniak i was thinking about the AW too, but coming from lggn950b 4k144hz i could not bring myself to step down to 1440p even if it is qd-oled, so i will wait for qd-oled 4k monitors (not tvs)
Got my G7 on sale for £430 delivered. Very happy.
Love all your content. Tune in almost everytime
I'm glad to see that there are so many good monitors out this year. Alot of companies have adapted and gotten a good spur out of competition.
@El Cactuar a property ?
Bought a DWF and received a golden sample. Loving it mounted on an Ergotron LX arm with a 4090.
Thank you a lot. This is what pc hardware review space was lacking.
I've no interest in monitors but just listened to the whole video because your voice is very calm and therapeutic 😃
Unless your made of money and can replace it, surely a monitor
no matter how good can't be top if you have to replace it in a couple of years
i own LG C2 42.. and this Boy is also Great in Windows.. when u activated HDR its just insane Desktop in HDR.. i never seen that before.. and i had many good Monitors .. LG C2 is clearly the Winner. 10/10
I am waiting the review of the QN90B! Excellent channel!
Got lucky and got the Neo G7 for 800 USD. It’s been a great monitor. Thanks for the review Tim!
Tim please never stop making videos.
Wow this is year ender treat for monitor cultists!!!
I got 32" Acer Predator XB323UGX 270Hz QHD "0,5ms" monitor for almost half the price of 32" LG UltraGear32GQ950-B. I hope to see more competition around 32" size in next 2 years to justify upgrading to 4K monitor. Considering the current price of 32" LG UltraGear32GQ950-B that I paid just $200 less for 55" Sony A83J OLED 120Hz 4K TV with Google TV OS, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support year ago - I am not paying almost the same for 32" IPS monitor.
bought the dwf, slapped on HDR and was blown away. I had a C1 before but relegated it to the living room.
How is the HDR any different?
I've never even noticed a fan noise on my Alienware monitor
It's worth noting the AW3423DW still has firmware issues with the current firmware MOB102. I've just had mine replaced due to pixel refresh issues and the screen intermittently turning off during content consumption. mine was also a july 22 build
Got the c2 for desktop and gaming thanks to your reviews, amazing price of engineering, never gonna touch non oled products again
Are you concerned about burn in risk?
Hopefully, there will be a review of the Dell G3223Q in 2023.
I just bought a Samsung neo g7 and it arrives tomorrow. Here’s hoping it’s a winner
LOVE that you did this.
Just picked up the 42" C2 for $799, paired it with an RTX 4090, it's a stunning display.
I was able to get a LG C2 42 for the sale price before Christmas. Best Monitor I've ever owned and that's upgrading from the A tier Samsung G7 S28
Im shocked the M32U didnt even make the list

First, I think to consider the price in your judgement is not good (like for the LG 27GP950), because the price can change with time and region.
I guess it just depends on the areas. Gigabyte M27Q-X on Amazon for me is $430. MSI MAG274QRX is $570. M27Q-X definitely gets the purchase in my case
I'm surprised at the GP27U. I figured that'd be an A tier if not for the flickering concern. I get ours in to test this week so I'm going to try it out on as many games as I can and see if I can pick it up
Same. I thought the firmware issues had mostly been resolved so seemed abit odd to rank it down based on that.
Did you experience flickering during your testing?
How come no review of the Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED? It's been out in NZ for a few weeks!
If the C2 was 32 inches, it would easily be S tier, no doubt.
I would buy one in a heartbeat in 32". I have a 32"1440p LG 144hz VA, and I do a lot of dark room gaming.
It already is s tier imo.
Try one before criticizing. I have the 48", which I thought would be too big, and it's amazing and the perfect size.
@seventyfive1 idk I got the 42 inch c2 and it's definitely a bit big. Even around 30 inches away I wouldn't mind a bit smaller.
Until you have a tab open for 2 hours and have burn in.
