I'm a retired firefighter and we've been using NuFinish for over 40 years. Red fire trucks & ambulances look new when we trade them in. We did each truck 2 or 3 times a year. Thin coat hand rubbed in then hand buffed when dry. Used on my personal vehicles as well. Great stuff.

I would still recommend using a clay bar first to remove contaminants because, if you don't, you'll just be scratching up the clear coat as you apply the polish. Clay bar is easy. You just wash your car and then fill a bucket with soapy water and run the clay bar over the clear coat with the soapy water as a lubricant. When the clay bar starts to get dirty, you just fold the dirty part into the bar and use the exposed clean part of the bar to continue. Dry the car and then apply the polish as is shown here unless you can access a D/A machine. If you can, you then cut the clear coat with a compound and then a polish and then the Nu Finish or wax. I know it sounds like a lot of work but, it can be done in a day and the look will last a lot longer than a year.

Except for some of the expensive 9H nano-ceramic coatings, this stuff, surprisingly, did about the best for long-term water beading ability.

My final step is to put a little of this on a blue shop towel, wipe on a thin layer inside and out then a clean paper towel to wipe it off. Very easy and it comes out crystal clear, it removes all streaks left behind by the windex or other glass cleaners. Also use it on all my mirrors so they are crystal clear.

Your paint shouldn't get dull if you take car of your vehicle like you should. It's purpose is too provide long lasting shine and protection for the person who doesn't want to spend a lot of money or time waxing their car. It will take out light scratches and help keep the paint shining like it did when it was new and you don't have to do it once a month. There never was and never will be that miracle product that will bring back that showroom shine to your 20 year old Monte Carlo that wasn't garage kept or maybe washed once a year and will only take 15 mins and will only cost $9.95 and so easy to do, you won't even break a sweat.

Nu Finish does not have abrasives. Since its silicone based its purpose is to coat the applied surface. Buffing or rubbing here refers to not to apply downward force while applying and wiping it off. Don't press down. What ever you use to apply you're using to spread it across the surface same when wiping it off you're just absorbing any left over polish that didn't adhere to the surface.

I've using this product on my cars and boats for a really long time and I totally agree that it's an excellent product! Easy to apply and very long lasting! I run a charter boat service in Maine and put about 5,000 miles a summer on my boat during a 5 month season and this product still protects at the end of the season. Another use is on car windshields. I recently watch a TH-cam video by Scotty Kilmer in which he said that NuFinish applied to the windshield keeps wiper blades from dragging and making noise. I tried it the next day and SOB it works! My relatively new wiper blades had been driving me nuts and two weeks after applying NuFinish to the windshield I can still run the wipers on a dry windshield with no noise at all!

I'm amazed at how long it lasts, easily 2-3 years. I hand wash my cars and the wax in the detergent is enough to maintain a slick surface. Note: I live in the south with no road salt. If you live up north it won't last as long.

It is great stuff. I have a 25 year old car that sits outside in Adelaide South Australia. Not usually any freezing but 45 deg C days in summer. It cops a lot of sun and sits at work getting a lot of dust from a steel recyclers next door. NuFinish lasts about 3 to 6 months before I need to do a top up polish. Paint still looks new as it doesn't grind off the clear coat like some more abrasive ones do. and unlike earwax of unicorns expensive polishes, it is budget friendly. I does smell but a small price to pay for such a great result. I have switched over to a Turtle Wax liquid polish which is comparable and a damn sight easier to apply only requiring a wipe with a damp microfibre cloth. But it is dearer. Still a good product the old Nu Finish! Probably the only negative is the white staining of rubber and plastics. t can be cleaned off but the new liquid stuff doesn't need that step so more time to do things I want to do.

A boat is in the direct sun at a marina all Spring, Summer, & Fall here. In addition when you use the boat almost everything gets wet from time to time. I experimented all season with every wax, polish & combo product I could find.
Nu Finnish lasted much longer than 15 other products. It wasn't the brightest shine, but I could of made it much shinier by using a clay bar first & then a high speed buffer. Then with sprayed on distilled water & a microfiber towel to finnish & of course always with an up & down motion.

If you really want a hard as hell topping I'd recommend Colonite 845 as it doesn't stain plastic or rubber as bad.

Putting any car coating/sealant on a painted surface is not the definition what a 'wax' is. Nu Finish is a silicone based treatment just like Armor All but with added ingredients. "Wax: Any of various natural, oily or greasy heat-sensitive substances, consisting of hydrocarbons or esters of fatty acids that are insoluble in water but soluble in nonpolar organic solvents." I would never put anything with silicone on a painted surface if I ever planned to repaint. It creates 'fish-eye' when repainting unless you add silicone to the paint you're using to cover the old. Does it work well for it's intended purpose, yes. Still, not a wax. My lacquer clear coat is not a wax, and it does exactly what you said a wax does under your definition. Also, don't put any silicone based polishes on furniture.. for the same reason. Even after removing the old finish, silicones remain and you have to use 'fish-eye remover' in your finish coat to make the paint flow evenly.

This is wrong - and it’s not just about the principle. This is about the formula and brand expectation. It’s a very affordable product. They are hyper vigilant about making sure people know what this product is designed for given they’ve done a good job lowering the barrier to entry. You incorrectly calling it a wax is counterproductive given the video has moments where it seems you are about the semantics. Yet you’re failing to appropriately comment on a wax MUST have some natural wax within the compound. It does not. And thus should not be used in a manner that you expect results from a wax. This should be used as a sealant which hit on the main product promises. I’ve worked on brands like this and it’s also important to remember they have a legal right to claim “the only car polish product in the market that contains no wax”. Again, you’re undercutting the brand falsely calling it wax and it confuses the customer. Further, it says “better than wax” on the actual bottle front and center. More confusion you’re adding.
Bc if we’re taking semantics, you’re also incorrect it’s a cleaner wax. No. The chemical makeup has NO abrasives. You’re just using the product wrong. Again, just bc something CAN remove debris doesn’t make it a cleaner. There’s thresholds for this. Water would be a cleanser by that definition which is preposterous in the context you’re commenting on. So to be clear, no natural wax nor abrasives. This is 100% not a cleanser wax nor a wax. No clue why it you’d even call it that when it contains neither of the overt required specifics. But to drive the point home , this may get through: if you keep calling it a wax, people will think it replaces other compounds. It does not and should not. This does not and should not compete directly with meguiars wax. You’d specifically use these in specific situations.
Lastly, your point about rubbing and buffing is pedantic and again, all due respect, but it’s wrong. Just bc you rub and buff and are able to work things out doesn’t mean it’s meant to be used like that. It says no rub or buff bc you’re not meant to reach for results that require that action. Again, goes back to expectation. You’re using incorrectly and thus your benchmarks are incorrect for the product. It also signals to the end user application is important and the instructions are clear. If you apply this as you would a traditional wax, it’s actually not going to be as effective. You say things like it won’t remove scratches - yes, of course not. It’s not designed to. That’s not a negative attribute, that’s a contrived one .
Net, yes it may produce results similar to other products but not understanding why it’s used in specific situations over other compounds will lead to unhappy customers or ones leaving performance on the table.
