      Yeah, most likely speeding as well, don´t you think? IDK what the speed limit normally is on US roads like these, but it seemed pretty fast for where I´m from... Also, as Dan pointed out, speeding up to swerve is a pretty weird move in my head. Better to brake and swerve, or brake, then swerve. You could turn much harder that way.

    Counter steering is a wonderful thing. There was no other reason why the first rider went off road! Using centre of gravity to steer a bike lacks positive input to the bike. It’s rather like just leaning the machine and hoping it will take you where you want to go. It won’t. You have to make it go where you want to go. On a left bend pull on the right bar and vv to take a right bend. Do it and you will notice an immediate improvement when taking all bends. Unless you counter steer, at speed, you are just a passenger! It’s simple physics F=ma as the acceleration increases (taking a bend) you need greater force. The weight of your butt alone won’t change the direction of the bike any more. So you end up doing mass x velocity instead which is straight lines with inevitable consequences. It should be taught at all riding academy’s.

    That first guy had his toes pointed out, which meant that if he did lean aggressively, he'd catch a shoe on the ground first. If he ever did that, he'd likely avoid leaning aggressively again.

    I would like to educate on some little issues I have encountered with brake levers. I recently bought a new to me bike and it was very well taken care of BUT the cleaning habits of the previos owner produced very dry connections. The brake lever had sticky spots. You progress until you feel resistence and then to get past the sticky spot it would accelerate to almost too much brake. A little bit of lube and all is well. Lets face it, machines need lubrication to work properly yet lube attracts dirt. Give and take.

      Absolutely. That was appalling riding, and it was a situation entirely of the making of the motorcyclist and entirely predictable. He only managed to get contain the situation by going to the wrong side of the road on a blind bend, and if a vehicle had been coming the other way, it would have been game over. The rider should thank his lucky stars and vow never to repeat such a dangerous act in the first place. Giving him praise is the wrong message entirely.

    You gotta love it when crotch rocket riders are blasting down streets way over the speed limit and then blame the cagers for the contact. People need to realize most drivers don't have the visual acuity or the reflexes to stop or see you in time to avoid you, but in case you don't know it speeding way over the limit is on you not the car in most cases. And Yes I ride and have been riding for 45 years and no accidents because I don't ride like an idiot in high traffic areas or do 70 in a 45 like a fool. I know most riders know it's on them to keep from getting seriously injured or 💀 you can't count on the other people to do that for you.Ride like your life depends on it, because it does.

    • @Titere05
      @Titere05 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Sometimes it seems bikers never drove a car in their lives. As a person who both rides and drives, it's not so easy to see/hear a motorcycle approaching at high speed from behind, because it's unexpected and due to the high speed, when you watch through the mirror it can be clear one second then the next you have the bike crashing into your side or back. I've had close calls with bikers because I check my left side mirror and there's nothing there, then the next there's a bike overtaking me, because the biker is weaving in and out of traffic so he switches between my left/right side all the time. Then they get angry. But yes, shockingly car drivers tend to look forward most of the time. Go figure.
      Just like an ostrich hides its head and thinks no one sees it because it can't see, bikers seem to think a car can see them because they can see the car. Careful with that, always assume the worst

    18:27 - ideally, park it as far away as possible, and with your front wheels turned all the way into that divider. There have been some pretty nasty accidents involving vehicles parked on the side like this and rubbernecking drivers. Ask any sheriff dpt. or hwy patrol.
    Now, since the car in front stopped like they did, why not turn your car inwards against that barrier, and block that shoulder off completely? I´m not saying it´s wrong to just stop, rather trying to figure out the best way to secure this accident scene. IDGAF about traffic rules at this point, but I would take everyone in the car outside with me, if I´m after all using it as a barrier.

    This grabbing the front brake is gonna happen over and over again if people are buying bikes and training themselves or buying bikes coz their friends got one but their friend hasn't trained them in any way. Be a good friend and give that newb a couple of tutorials on how to go and stop and turn corners, the really basic stuff coz it's not like brakes on a car.✌️
    Hell I did it coz I didn't get any tuition either ,I pulled the front brake and landed on my right-hand side!😂😂

    Going wide. Is going too fast, or setup late for the turn. Both are due to lack of experience.
    The guy the hit the car with his foot. I don't understand why he accelerated while he swerved, He had no line of sight. The car was blocking his view. He should have just swerved, or even braked while swerving. Better yet. Start with the progressive braking, if that wasn't enough, then swerved,
    I don't like lane splitting. But I do agree with going to the front of the line at a traffic light. I don't want to get rearended, or worse yet, run over by someone that never applied their brakes.

      @olenilsen4660 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well put, except for the lane splitting - I use this all the time without problems, but you have to do it nicely, and at an appropriate speed. Also, only if there is a queue/slow moving traffic. Lane splitting at full hwy speeds is just stupid and dangerous. Do it slowly and nicely, and people might respect you. If you blow past a 10 mph queue in 45, you´re just going to aggrevate everyone you pass against bikers, and you will hit someone switching lanes sooner or later. Remember that you´re in a tight spot, so don´t push your luck. But it´s way better than standing still in the queue, where you´ll easily get rearended.

    18:50 if you treat the drivers with respect, you're less likely to be too embarrassed to stick around in front of them after an overtake. Rider just got too excited. Easily could have passed and slotted in between the car and bike in front. Give the car a respectful thank you wave, and because you haven't been harassing them while looking for a spot to pass, you don't have to worry so much about them riding your backside. I suspect rider hadn't done any of that, and so was desperate to put some distance between them and overshot the corner as a result.

      @@masterofnone1481
      Using your upper body weight to turn the bike.
      If you watch him, he's leaning his upper body into the turn and the closer he gets to the edge, the more he leans his upper body.

    • @jerrylong381
      @jerrylong381 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Body english doesn't work, it's a misconception that people carry over from riding bicycles. We all counter steer bicycles, but they are so light that we don't realize we're doing it. We think we steer them with our weight. So if no one tells us otherwise, we try to steer the much heavier motorcycle that way.
      When I started riding in the 70s, no one talked about counter steering. I don't think I even heard the term until I had been riding for several years. I had an old biker tell me I needed to turn left to go right once, but I didn't get it for a while.
      I was instinctively using a little counter steering, but until I started consciously doing it, I wasn't a very good rider. I got by, but thankfully I was never in a situation that I had to make an emergency swerve.
      Of course once you start counter steering consciously and practice it, then it becomes instinctive.

    23:00 - No, they didn´t. What if a car just had an accident 3 seconds before you got there, in your lane, blocking half of the other lane? You should be prepared for this when you´re out riding, ´cause if you hit anything at all, you´re always the looser on a bike. You´re soft, most other things are not.

      @@MasterFancyPants I'm sure it does. However, in the UK, the training is much much harder than it was for me to pass my test in 1980. They have people riding around cones and skill tests before they can even ride on the road. After watching the accidents on this channel for a while, it seems to me that people can just buy a bike and ride it without even having to pass a simple competence test.

The best approach would be to actually have at least basic first aid trainig and cultivate such knowledge.
