a guy from unison audio hit me up to program some software for them a few months ago & they wanted me to basically copy some other company's plugin as a "test" to see if they would let me work on their other stuff. it gets better though; they wanted me to PAY (with my own money) for this plugin they wanted to copy to use as a reference. i didn't even dignify that LinkedIn message with a response 😅
It’s easy to tell which companies really get into it to try to make a quick buck off beginners. Then there’s companies like Fabfilter, Spectrasonics or izotope who get genuine support because they clearly make products that really help the creative and step up their production. When that’s the primary focus, it’s a win win because they end up making way more money than the companies that just try to come up real quick.

Unison definitely offers big money to content creators with audiences - I was offered $2k back when I had probably less than half of the subs I have today. It's wild... $2k for a midi chord pack promo. I'm not against sponsor deals but I ONLY do them if I legitimately love the brand and would talk about them without being asked to.... THEN it makes and only then. So yeah - I obviously said no. Sadly most people in this biz don't have any integrity.

There is no way they spent a million on the plugin - I've talked with plugin creators and a plugin like that would easily be under $100k and probably more realistically like $50k. You are hitting the nail on the head when you're talking about these companies targeting nooby / beginner producers who honestly just don't know any better. It's REALLY sad. Whenever I see stuff like "use this and it'll make you sound pro" or hyped stuff like that - it's an IMMEDIATE red flag. I believe it's way more about the skill behind our moves than the tools we use that create professional quality. Too bad these companies are basically coming across as the Staples' "Easy Button"

yeah, I bought the chord pack and its ight at best, scaler is used more, but I prefer to make my own melodies. DAW's come with the scales built in, and drum sequencers. Great video man.

Thank you for this video! I recently decided that I will begin learning to produce music and I am trying to learn as much as I can when it comes to software and products for my midi. I honestly LOL'd when you began talking about the botting. It does look that way.
The other reasonably priced AI composition plugin is W.A. Production's Instacomposer .. combine that and Scaler, and you can do pretty much everything except drum beat generation (which as you quite rightly pointed out is best done other ways anyway)
Does InstaComposer do something different from Scaler2? I'm not being sarcastic, I only tried Scaler2 demo and want to hear about InstaComposer from the one who had used both.
I hate all these shortcuts people keep giving beginners instead of helping them learn music theory or encouraging them to do so. I strongly believe that is a sign of laziness and as far as i know only hard working people who are constantly learning things get to live off their own music.

Serato Studio does the same thing drum monkey does but it's not creative at all. Scaler has all the chord progressions you need and don’t need. I have mangler and…it’s better to learn how to mix with stock plug ins. Anything that’s designed to automate music and make it easier will do nothing but stall your own creativity and growth. Unison are basically a company that preys on all the new and then failing people with dreams of starting music… there’s more people starting then stopping than those continuing and those that continue only do so for having been lucky enough to land on good information
They get away with this stuff because the current crop of musicians (and I used that term loosely) do not understand basic music theory, therefore need to rely on a "pack" or "generator" to create and write for them, instead of of doing it themselves, like you said, "play your own shit." Smdh. Yes a good melody can be difficult to achieve, however if you play a basic triad or 7th chord, then you can instantly harmonize and piddle with those notes in arpeggios, therefore the chord progression almost writes the melody. Using 9ths, flats 5ths, 6ths, sus chords and inversions opens up even more possibilities for beginning and ending motifs. If I tell a musician to play a 4th up from G, their response should not be the glazed eyes appearance, nor should they be looking towards a software or phone app for guidance. All of this takes time and discipline in the woodshed daily.

Scaler has a melody generator and bass line generator. It's hard to notice, but it's up at the top kind of in the middle of the gui.

Scaler is very good. I used it before updating to Studio One Pro which has the chord track but the interface for Scaler makes it nice to work with. 😃

Unison are basically a company that preys on all the new and then failing people with dreams of starting music… there’s more people starting then stopping than those continuing and those that continue only do so for having been lucky enough to land on good information

They get away with this stuff because the current crop of musicians (and I used that term loosely) do not understand basic music theory, therefore need to rely on a "pack" or "generator" to create and write for them, instead of of doing it themselves, like you said, "play your own shit." Smdh.
Yes a good melody can be difficult to achieve, however if you play a basic triad or 7th chord, then you can instantly harmonize and piddle with those notes in arpeggios, therefore the chord progression almost writes the melody. Using 9ths, flats 5ths, 6ths, sus chords and inversions opens up even more possibilities for beginning and ending motifs. If I tell a musician to play a 4th up from G, their response should not be the glazed eyes appearance, nor should they be looking towards a software or phone app for guidance. All of this takes time and discipline in the woodshed daily.
