my problem with their promo video is just that they make up a completely unrealistic scenario to justify their effect. like sure, if you use a pure saw wave as a raw sound literally everything makes it better, even a random chorus that has not been added intentionally at all. but try it on some sounds that already have some character to them. will it still make things better or just randomly different?
These multi fx plugs are a mix engineers nightmare when producers slam them on all their tracks. Everything gets unnecessary stereo width that just makes your mixes muddy and sound like shit in mono
i think the reason unison cost so much because sep is trying to get the money back he spent on going to multiple music schools just to learn effects. but for real this is the first time i "liked" a unison product. i think the UI looks super cool its just WAY too much money like always
They have to charge that much because of the Advertising. Companies know that selling 100000 good vst's at $39 will make more than selling 1000 bad vst's at $300 . Unison knows they will get at Least 1000 suckers to pay that much with fancy advertising and dancing monkeys.

this is genuinely such a cool looking plugin - i definitely if it was more affordable and had less features but was more "focused" it could really help get a usable sound in the moment without breaking up someone's workflow. i think that's where i'd use it, is to have a temporary sound idea when inspiration comes, and then make the sound myself later properly. the ui is so great too! the issue is just.... rather than showing how the plugin could be useful to musicians, they try to sell it to beginners by promising it'll make them pro level immediately
It does improve basic sounds, but for that price you can just get a premium synth with 1000s of good sounds, for example Heat Up 3 is $149. The plugin basically combines effects like reverb, tremolo, flanger, etc. If they stopped too many caps, and priced the plugins right they would do okay.

(Yes, 25 years ago) That just shows how world class Sep is. I still don't see how the guy from Futurama adds vocals to your loops, but I'm guessing AI? I think the irony doesn't escape real artists that people selling you software to make you sound like everybody that's already out will not be the best route for you doing something that sounds new and creative. I guess if you are entering a prompt to get your sound, you already know the key words to market by genre. As somebody who doesn't make money for my 'work' I wouldn't expect to give advice to anyone on music 'business', but I think you will get a better overall sound with your modern music production if you just take the time to understand a few basic stock effects you have and just experiment with the presets, changing the values of the efx settings, listening, and switching the order up of the effects in the chain. Subtractive EQ.

i can finally add a filter and drown stuff in reverb for 200 dollars thanks unison! also notice how much more it is about billboard top 100s or top spotify listens, it's never about the quality itself.

But the point is there is alternatives. Even plugins that can create unison from audio. But for this basic stuf you can convert audio to midi and use a synth. I have the feeling the target is complete beginners and they want to make money out of their ignorance.
You know what I dislike about Unison the most? He presents his plug-ins as one button solutions that eliminate the necessity for mixing. “Buy our plug-in, slap it on a track and all of a sudden your sound will be PRO LEVEL!” He discourages the pursuit of knowledge and skill to entice people to spend 4 to 5 times what his plug-ins are worth. As a multi effect, this might actually be useful, but it is absolutely, unequivocally, not what Sep is saying what it is… One button solution to make a great production/mix. It’s simply isn’t. As with any plug-in like this, just slapping presets on a track will create tons of frequency, reverb, delay, phase build-up issues. Sep…the dude is just a straight up liar.
Unison Audio is a joke. Things that come to mind when I think of Unison Audio: Snake Oil; 1990's Home Shopping Network TV Station; the "Sham-Wow"; Weird Al Yankovic's "Spatula City"; The Clapper.

For the before they used default "when dragging midi to a new layer" like in bitwig if you drag a mid into a new layer you get default polysynth... But the one where they demoed their fx on top of it was actually not a default instrument is shady af.. intentionally making the before worse for the demo is shady af....
