- This Week Scotland Brings Me to Tears!! We have had some pretty epic Scottish adventures so far, but this encounter pushed me over the edge.

⤈ WHO WE ARE ⤈
We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. Then we took our van further than she had ever been before to the very beautiful Turkey. Enroute we stopped off in Spain for a few weeks where we experienced every van lifers worst nightmare, we were robbed and they stole all valuables in our van. But now we are back on our feet, fully MOT’d and back on the road through Europe before we experienced another vanlife nightmare... our van caught fire! After the trauma of that we had a massive change of plan and have now made our way to Japan. We enjoyed a three month Japanese Adventure and are now back in Martha ready for some more adventures.

Moray Firth is fantastic for dolphin watching.... Chanonry Point (Lighthouse) at Fortrose is excellent for watching from shore, if you are there at the right time when the tide is rising the dolphins are amazing, they come very close to shore, they spy hop, chase fish, leap out of the water, it is truly wonderful, just magical. I could watch them all day. It was fellow Ulster folk who told us about the dolphins... we spent glorious 14 days on the Black Isle and watched the dolphins every day... bliss 😊😊😊😊

@@phillyandkeely they sure are, I was surfing at shandwick bay last night. No dolphins but plenty other wildlife out in the waves. I had a dolphin leap straight out of the water 50 yards from me last year. If I get some good footage I'll post it on my channel.

Scotland is SO beautiful! I cried when seeing whales for the first time and hearing them sing! I had my first kayak trip on Loch Morlich as a young teen! I am longing to take our van to Scotland one day soon!

I've had a similar dolphin experience when I watched them swim by me at Channory Point on the Black Isle.
There's definitely something between us and those beautiful creatures ❤.

We did the NC500 in May of this year. Did east coast 1st then back down the west coast. It was dry but windy which kept the midges away. So many beautiful places to see. I highly recommend it.
I think doing it from east to west is a good idea, I would recommend that to people. May is perfect time I reckon!

I'm afraid there is no cure known-to-man for this condition; except for a trip to Dingle Bay on your return to Eire, where you can SWIM with the dolphins to your heart's content. Sooo, it was kinda hard to tell from youse's reactions. Would you say the dolphin excursion was money well spent? 🥹🥹😁 I was tearing up right along with you, and i was only watching on the telly! I've always wondered if the dolphins are squeaking to each other, "Hey, lookit, humans are here!" So intelligent and curious they are, it wouldn't surprise me.

I had a similar experience on an Eco trip to Vancouver Island, BC with the migrating Orca,. and you could hear them underwater through the bottom of the kayak. Reminds me a lot of Antrim coast, Dunluce Castle, etc.

100% I would buy and live in a graveyard I always look at the little old graveyard chapels that come up for auction. I would 100% offer tea & cake to visiting relatives

Ah, I love dophins too Keely. I was in the Navy and stationed on Cuba. We would have to take a ferry from one side of the bay to the other and there were times that the dolphins would swim real close along side the ferry and it was just so cool to watch them. I did go to a place in Mexico where they had a place where you could do close encounters with dolphins and I got to be with a dolphin that was pregnant and feel her belly and the baby inside. It was so awesome and yet I felt bad that she had to be in the pool and not in the ocean. I love cemeteries too, I like to stop and read the tombstones and wonder what kind of life they lived. Never regret a swim and that was a beautiful place by St Mary's Chapel to go in the water. And, "Im excited"! Where are you traveling too, can hardly wait to hear about the next adventure. But, "I'm excited" too, to see the Scotland finale next Sunday. Oh, and right now, 2 owls near my van are hooting to each other,😊🦉🦉

Thurso is gorgeous love those rock formations, hmm I also think Philly is a mountain goat in disguise the way he scaled those rocks 😂 As for living in a cemetery, not for me but I loved your take on it , the way you described the people buried there makes it less creepy, but I think I’ve watched to many horror movies to stay even a night there 🤣 Keely you have to go swim with the dolphins, words just can’t describe the feeling, and yup they choose to swim with you . Philly is an excellent climber! Hoping to try and get some more rock climbing in on our next adventure. Honestly if I went swimming with dolphins I might pass out from excitement 😂😂
They say that music can bring emotion. Well, I swear that your ability to choose the right music for videos works. When I saw Keely’s excitement and emotion watching the dolphins 🐬, it moved me. But listening to the music 🎶 that was playing brought me actual tears 😭. It was all beautiful. Funny because I’ve seen dolphin up close and it never made me cry 😂, I also love how Philly is looking at Keely and lovingly putting his arm around her shoulder. 🥰

Hi Guys. Sinclairs Castle....did you go down to the narrow gully beach at the castle where all the cairns are, and see the optical illusion of the sea being up hill?? Also to the south of Cromarty there's a beach at Channary point where you can be on the beach and the dolphins are 20 to 25 metres off the beach, diving and jumping, pretty much guaranteed. We sponsor a dolphin called Rainbow, we went there in July and photographed her, we knew it was her due to her markings. X

😊. I was so happy to see St Mary’s again. 20 years ago I used to live on the seafront in thurso overlooking Scrabster and my favourite place for a private wild swim was that little bay you swam in. I nearly always had it to myself. Heavenly 😊
