Still loving my L20 Ultra, I see no need to upgrade to the X30. However, I am excited to see what comes next from Dreame a few years from now to help see if upgrading will be worth it.
Now Dreametech is coming out with the X40, they are really coming out with new models quite fast. I'm not sure what it offers over the X30 but since I recently got the X30 I don't think I will look at the X40 for now. The X30 is a really good one though. One odd thing about it though, and I'm not sure if this is by design or a bug, I have it set to return to wash the mops every 10 minutes, in the mop only mode, when returning to the station to wash the mops, it turns on the vacuum motor at a low speed. I wouldn't think this would be necessary. Also, this robot along with several others still spin their side brush in the mop only mode. The only robot I have seen that doesn't do this is the Narwal Freo X Ultra. Again, I would think this is not necessary and will cause the side brush to wear out faster.
Great reviews Jamie. Looking forward to the bake off between the Dreame and Roborock. I plan on purchasing one the two. Question…how do I think about a home with multiple floors? I’d prefer not to purchase three separate units. Our main floor is the one we care about most, but can I manually carry the unit to another floor and have it clean it? Maybe you already have a video on this topic. Thank you!
Dear Jamie, thanks for all the videos, they are so useful! I am looking for a robot vacuum to get rid of cat litter (mostly floor + little tile + little short carpet). Which one would you recommend? I saw here that X30 can reach 98% on tile test. Is this the best? Any budget option with similar result? Thanks a lot!
I cover the US market and that brand is not really popular here. If there is enough demand for a robot review I will review it otherwise it cost too much time and money to review. Unfortunately I can't review every robot as I do this part time as a hobby.
Has there been any news on the Qrevo MaxV? I still have an old neato d7 connected I’m looking to replace. Can’t decide if i want the dreame x30, qrevo maxv, or s8 maxv ultra! 😅
Both the pick up test and the mopping test must be repeated many times to get a statistically reliable result. Then it is not recommended in my opinion to clean up large piles of gravel with a robot machine, it could scratch the floor. Nor would I mop up larger stains with these machines as you just spread the mess over the entire surface, it might look clean but you're left with a sticky surface that just got bigger. These machines are more for maintenance cleaning and for that they're pretty good!
All of my testing is done for comparison only so you can see how one robot performs compared to another. All of my vacuum tests are run a minimum of 2 times and as long as the results are within a margin of error I go with the better result to be fair. The mopping test is run 3x. I would not suggest using a robot to vacuum gravel as it could damage the robot as well. I don't suggest using robots as the only cleaning device in your home. They are maintence machines designed to keep your floors clean inbetwen deep cleanings.
You should also start testing auto empty with receipt papers and napkin I know it will not pass but maybe they come up with something after watching it
Interesting. I am not positive if the vacuum could pick it up, but certain would not pass through an auto empty bin with the exception of maybe the S8 Pro Ultra from Roborock and that is about all.
Hi Jamie, I would like to check with you whether after emptying to the dock station, will there still have some dirt in the bin? Is this normal for all your dreame series, especially the L20?
Would you recommend i get a roborock Q8 or the Eufy X10? Its mainly carpet, but object recognition on the X10 looks amazing. Is carpet pickip good enough with one roller compared to two rubber ones? Im hoping you do a follow up video with that rubber roller you got, itd be amazing to see it compared to a dual rubber roller like the s8 or q8
Those are very different machines. The X10 has a good bit more features however in my testing both the Q8 and Q Revo performed better on carpet and tile. I would compare the Q Revo to the Eufy X10 as it is closer in feature sets. I will try and redo my testing with the new brush roller. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@jamie.andrews Thanks for the reply. Qrevo isn't available in the UK unfortunately. I'd also be very interested to see the Eufy L60 against the Q8 as they seem to be similarly destroyed for about £100 price difference
So in Australia we only have the L20.. now I need to decide between the L20 or the Roborock S8 MaxV ultra? Do I need to wait for the latest Roborock Q Revo MaxV review?
Well I bought the L20 three days ago and I've been very disappointed. While its suction is great its mapping has been terrible. It consistently skips an entire section in my living room, has a hard time going over floor boards and wont go under my couch and entertainment unit. It will also claim to get "stuck" and when I go to check its literally three options to exit. But for some reason the L20 can't figure it out. Mind you I'm coming from an old "outdated" Roborock S5. My old Roborock while old, rarely gets stuck, has zero problems traveling over floor boards and actually vacuums my home faster than the Dreame. While it doesnt suction as powerfully as the L20 it still keeps my house floors clean. I know Dreame is supposed to be the "better" brand but I think I may be going back to Roborock. I considered the Dreame X30 but $1699 is above my price point.
it's not a better brand, Roborock is better, Dreame is just a tad cheaper and gives you more features but it's not as polished as Roborock. If obstacles avoidance is not your prio then get the Revo and be the happiest ever
I think the hot water is for bacteria. Dreame has the X40 out. It's a worthy upgrade. I'll buy the X40 when the x60 is released making the X40 affordable.
@@jamie.andrewsInteresting. The X30 has never been announced for Europe, they released the X40 recently. I’ve seen the X30 for the Chinese market last year. Or maybe just a different branding for different markets? But I do agree at the hygienic aspect of the temperature. 40C is perfect for bacteria - 70C hot water will kill most of them, depending on the net temperature on the mops and the time applied. But most detergents (including simple soap) are effective against harmful bacteria. With viruses it’s a bit more specific.
How come eufy didn’t send you s1 pro I will buy after you review it. I just got l10 ultra and realized it doesn’t have light for object avoidance that I need will be returning getting l20.

Just like Roborock we can only get the very old models in South Africa. Cannot understand why. Only real flagship models available in SA are from Evovacs and that is why I bought the X1 two years ago. Our Robot vac market has really grown here and people buy a lot of low end rubbish as it is all they can get.

X40 seems like a copycat of what Roborock came out with at CES. I am not sure why dreame did not release their tricut brush for hair though I saw a bunch of knockoffs selling them but dreame did not release it on their website or provide it with the X30 when it was shown at CES as their hair tangling solution. I ended up ordering one off ebay brand new since you can find them elsewhere and they work with the dreame robot vacuums. They are not releasing any firmware updates for the dreame L20 from what I can see which kinda saddens me as if they have new features to improve their vacuums to sell they should be improving them. But they're still doing what I think is holding back software features for when you pay more money for them which is very greedy. They could always just put software updates behind a paywall if they wanted to to convenience customers but free is always better. Narwal and Dreame are still my go to brands for the best robot vacuums on the market.
X40 is real similar to the X30 which is fairly similar to the L20. One good thing with the new models coming out is the price of the old ones go down. An L20 for under 1k is an exceptional value for a solid performer.
