I was very hesitant between these two models. Finally we chose Dreame. We have been using the X40 ultra for a few weeks now. X40 ultra + tricut brush is the perfect combination! We are super happy with the X40 ultra. I'm still amazed at how well the robot mops! Especially that I don't have to worry about long hairs thanks to the tricut brush. Great purchase! By this video and my own experiences I can see that I made the right choice. Jamie thank you too your videos helped me a lot with my choice! 👍🏻👍🏻
You're reviewing these R2D2s like you're dealing with the latest Space X rocket - and you are the head engineer . Appreciate all the effort and details , you're the Best at these .
Hmmm, i think I might get the Dreame X40 with the tricot brush as it seems its the perfect for what I need. But is there another vacuum you’d recommend? Or what you personally are using? Basically need it for dust/long hair and food crumbs around the kitchen and mopping abilities. Also object avoidance is a must. Is Dreame X40 just to get for my needs or is there one you personally recommend for my needs??. Its 95 percent hardwood floors. Have one carpet in the dining room. Price isnt an issue
What a coincidence re the timing of this video. Today I've finally got round to setting up my X40 about 2 months after it arrived. I haven't done the mapping run yet but the setup was pretty easy. My unit (actually the X40 Master because it has the plumbed in dock) has a voice assistant. I've kept it turned off but the app definitely seems to think I can say "OK Dreame" and then things like "Start cleaning", "Clean the living room" etc. I'm glad you continue to call out Dreame re not using the side brush on carpets. I'm going to experiment with telling it to ignore carpets that I think will get it to spin its side brush. I'll just need to be careful to only specify mopping in rooms that really are hard floors (my kitchen & 2 bathrooms) and be careful that the room boundaries (doorway positions) for those rooms are very accurately set so that it doesn't stray onto the edge of the carpet in the adjoining room when mopping a hard floor. I'll see how it goes and try to remember to report back here.
It feels a bit suspicious that Dreame stated it is not needed, but only for the models with a swing out side brush. Dreame had some issues with the side brush when it first came out as the internal gears would shatter (claimed to now be fixed) and I almost wonder if this is an issue since carpet would cause a lot of drag. Just a thought and I don't like to speculate, but this really makes 0 sense to me.
Thank you for this great video series! One of our main considerations is pet hair. From watching the individual videos, it appears the Dreame is better here. But it would be nice if you included that as part of the evaluation since it seems the roborock had serious problems with hair getting wrapped around the roller and having to clean it manually.
I have covered that in both of the review videos linked in the video description. I even covered the Tricut brush and the problem you speak about with the hair on the S8 MaxV Ultra . Anything specific you are wanting to know feel free to ask. Happy to help.
Roborock really changed many people’s lives 4 years ago when it first introduced carpet sensor mop lift. I bought it 4 years ago and it has helped my life more than my government tbh. But looks like dreame has since overtaken it. I have ordered a x40. Looking forward to it.
Both! For different reasons. If you can take advantage of the Slim getting into hard to reach areas that is a great choice otherwise the X40 is a decent choice too.
Have you considered using test dust or other finer particle material? Cat litter and rice are both pretty big compared to most household dust and from other tests I've seen this does seem to make a significant difference especially on carpet vacuum tests.
I have considered it and if I had a real studio with space I would do more tests. This issue with dust is it gets scattered on hard floors by the vacuum exhaust. That is a primary reason I use cat litter on floors. It won't be impacted by the vacuum motor exhaust. That and it is a real issue for many people to have scattered cat litter around their home. On carpet you have to make sure all of the dust is completely removed after a test which is challenging. Robot vacuums are not yet a replacement for a large vacuum and I suggest people still use a large vacuum on carpets every now and then for deep cleaning. That means robots are maintenance items designed to keep your carpets and floors looking nice in between deeper cleanings. Robots are great surface level cleaners and thus the rice test. It also makes it easy to compare robots side by side and in my testing the ones that score better with rice also clean the carpets better overall. Anyway I hope this helps. I love the suggestions and one day maybe I can rent some space for a proper testing studio.

Glad I could help

I have the L40, it works great on pet hair with the tricut brush. With two goldens is runs everyday
Great to hear. We have an English lab, our house is covered in her hair.

Awesome video, which one you prefer? Roborock Slim or Dream , x40 ultra??

Im planning to buy dreame x40 or roborock qrevo curv. Which one do u recommend?
Do you need the lifting ability of the Curv?
@@jamie.andrews nope, im more focus on vacumming, mopping, and obstacle avoidance performances
@@heejoonkwon3267definitely dreame x40! they’re pretty much the same, except the X40’s obstacle avoidance is miles ahead.

What is the best robot vacuum you recommend which isn't roborock, since object avoidance is a high priority for me.
What is your budget and I can help narrow it down for you. The list is quite long.
@ I don’t really have a budget haha looking for the best one but maximum I don’t think it could be more than 1600/1700.
Huge price difference between both
Here in the US it is about $100 right now.
