    We bent our chassis at 5psi. I was told not to run with zero psi so we left a bit in. We were on a gnarly track with a drop. After we recovered the ute there was a 700+km road trip back to Perth at a sedate pace.

      Damn Steve! That sounds horrible! Yes I'm sceptical on the bags aswell, any sniff of a dirt road I let them down to almost nothing. Did you have upgraded springs aswell?

      @@lilandjake yeah Jake, Toughdog springs and shocks and a lift. The ute was fixed under insurance, I thought she was a right-off.
      The ute was stipped to the chassis and cold stretched back to square (about 4 weeks in a queue ) then it was sent to an engineer for fishplate (4 months in a queue) basically gone for half a year. I checked in with the engineer after 4 weeks and there was a yard full of utes getting fixed or modified and we just had to wait. Old mate said he would ban them from sale and he's surprised insurance companies were covering the claims. The ute was as good as gold when we got her back.
      BUT in the end I think it was weight behind the rear axle, a crew cab and the wheel arch was up front that got us (and a bigish drop). We have a supercab now aand I tink the tray is better situated over the arch.

    Hello Jake
    Air bags are amazing a much better ride We will have to see how it works out on the road when you haul your house on wills I think you did a great job installing the air bags I thought it would take a long time to do Say hello to Lil Great 👍 job

    A tip mate, with car jacked put wheel under the car in case it comes off the jack 👍

    How much lift did you get from the airbags? My Ranger drops 50mm with van. Trying to work out if I need suspension upgrade; bags or both?

    • @lilandjake
      @lilandjake  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey legend, depends on the pressure you run, airbags are only meant to lift your car back to level, they would easily get your ute back to standard height with a van on the back 😉

  • @peterdebeer8765
    @peterdebeer8765 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could you put a T peace in and have 1 valve to fill both?

    • @lilandjake
      @lilandjake  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's such a good idea! I wonder if it would have an equalising effect though and move the pressure to each side when the weight transfers? I'll do some research and get back to you!

      @bretttaylor3174 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lilandjake just watched your video. Not sure if you looked at the T piece idea but I don’t think it’s recommended. Air can move between both bags so when one gets pressure is pushes air to the other. Keen to hear if you looked into it…

  • @davesieber2095

    Did you already have a lift in that mate or is it standard height

    • @lilandjake
      @lilandjake  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate! It's got a lift in it, 300 kg springs in the rear, sat at about standard height with all the weight in it, even lower with the van on.
      Thanks for the comment!

    Hey legend just installed my airbags in my 2020 Triton with tray and canopy decked out for touring, been reading up on airbags and chassis bending esp in the triton and now I'm full paranoid and thinking of chassis bracing or upgrading my rear leaf to 400kg constant lol. How's your chassis holding up??

    • @lilandjake
      @lilandjake  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@truongl5733 hey, I ended up taking the airbags out and replacing them with 500kg constant loads. It made it tow better but it ruined off-road performance as they wouldn’t flex as much as the 200s with airbags.
      Never had a problem with the chassis bending but different utes different chassis I can’t say how your will fare sorry

    • @lilandjake
      @lilandjake  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey legend! Yea the bags are epic, best part is not trying to go offroad with 500kg leafs and having a brick, it still flexes great. Would highly recommend.

    A great video as to why some things shouldn't be DIY like this, lots of things not done correctly and really at the end of the day just dangerous, you obviously have no mechanical aptitude.

      @@lilandjake Both the U bolts and nuts should be replaced once undone. The reason is the nuts are torqued at factory which tends to stretch the thread, once you undo the nuts you will never get the same nut back on and guaranteed to not come undone by itself as the thread is now stretched. You should always replace with new U bolts and nuts and torque to the manufacturer's specification. Also never cut the threads back to level with top of the nut, this is bad practice and in a high tensile joint the thread should protrude past the top of the nut by about 3 or 4 threads minimum.
      Hope this helps, but my advice is change out those U bolts and nuts with new ones and use a torque wrench to correct manufacturer settings so you have the confidence they will do the job and keep you safe.

    • @lilandjake
      @lilandjake  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aramlee thanks for the tip! I left the u bolts in as they where new aftermarket ones and only 10,000ks old, that's why I had to cut them down as the factory u bolts would not have hit the bag,
      sorry I don't have a torque wrench but you'll have to keep watching and see if our diff falls out! Cheers.

    • @jobail01
      @jobail01 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lilandjake yep I understand, however the low k's travelled on those U bolts is irrelevant. Once the nut is torqued or tightened, it stretches the thread immediately, if you undo the nut and then tighten again, the integrity of the joint or nut/thread combination is now compromised, it's just a pure fact and now a substandard connection. You never reuse the same U bolts and nuts, best practice is what will keep you from coming unstuck. Ask around with some people in the industry if you need to satisfy your own mind. Good luck with it all.
