    We drive the 2021 Toyota GR Yaris GR-Four and see what this new hot hatch is really like!
    Is the GR Yaris the best hot hatch of the last ten years? Quite possibly. Toyota have decided to shoot for the kings of the hot hatch segment, and in today’s video, we find out that they didn’t miss. Look out Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Golf GTI and R and i30 N - this is a great performance three-door. But it isn’t perfect. Manual, three-cylinder only, the GR Yaris arrives in Australia this month.
    Would you consider buying a GR Yaris at the new price? Did you score one in the cheap original deal? Will you take one for a test drive?

    I'm quite happy with Toyota's pricing structure as I was one of the first 1000 to get one at $39,950.
    For those whom are upset about the pricing I believe Australia is getting a decent deal as the Rallye or circuit pack edition in Japan is 5.5million yen which is around 75k AUD.

    Great review. Love the fact you highlight how 'normal' drivers might find the car. Nice driving on the skid track. That price is going to hurt here in NZ. 54,990+ORC for a 2 seater. Wow. Get the feeling that the car is destined as a Motorsport base for gravel hounds. Be awesome for that by the looks.

    Good to see Toyota finally waking up and realising there is a market for these types of cars. Unfortunately Toyota still think they are the premium brand and thus can charge high prices. They are wrong. As you said those that bought at sub $40K probably bought at what the market will eventually price this car. With i30N an i20N just around the corner with a DCT variant this car will quickly be forgotten. Two door cars quickly become annoying. As for manual, us old school drivers love it but in years to come when you mention manual you'll be handed the car specifications/service manual. My opinion too little too late, give the public an 86 Turbo at $50K then you will genuinelly get me interested.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I mean, the Golf R is on a runout offer of $61,894 driveaway, so it’s a fair comparison. Still $8k more than GR Yaris, but it’s obviously more practical.

      @geokon7192 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah But they did sell it at 39k. So if we comparing discounted price then still 21k difference. It’s 50% more of the value of the 39k GR. That’s significant. And bet the golf r didn’t sell 1000 cars in 3 days at run out price.

I would just wait for another aurion to come out or for that price I get the new Camry they say it's the best toyota car to drive compared to others.

      @@wolvoman1 Again, you're missing the point. It's not about which transmission I prefer to drive. This car was quite clearly designed for 'drivers' who want something small and unique and that aren't so much interested in things like the interior or boot space but simply the driving experience. Giving it an automatic transmission would take away from that. If you find yourself criticising the car, it's quite frankly because it wasn't designed for you. Sure, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it doesn't want to be. That's the point.

The i20 N is so much lighter and that makes the car much easier to manipulate. Here, with the GR Yaris, it's a technically brilliant car and I enjoyed driving it - though I am looking forward to more seat time to get to know it better.
