Split is 60:40 to the front in normal not to the rear, lane departure is a long press on the wheel to disable. The shelf under the screen seems to hold a phone if it has a leather case but not without. I think you summed it up really good when you said it doesn’t drive slowly well. IMT isn’t great when going slow as soon as you’re pushing on it’s great. Another good review Pete and I agree that this is what the GP3 should have been it’s not perfect but at this price point it’s quite attainable by most.
To my eyes/mind, this car is an instant cult classic. I've now watched several reviews and the more I see the more I want. The three pot in the Mini Cooper is a great little engine however this Toyota three pot seems fantastic. Having (yesterday) changed to Pilot Sport 4S tyres on my Vantage I can imagine the grip this little 4wd has. Unfortunately, cars like this will become few and very far between, so we really have to commend Toyota for bringing this to market, though calling it a Yaris does give the wrong impression and may put off many buyers I'm sure. Great review as ever, the beeming smile tells us all we need to know Pete.
I think its a fantastic car. I also think the price is great. I bought a new Escort RS Cosworth back in 92. It cost £26,000 back then. It came with less power than the GR and absolutely nothing else. Great review mate, thanks 👍
This is a car that shouldn't exist but which does because of Toyoda-san's absolute commitment to the pure love of driving. It is quite incredible that Toyota reverse-engineered this road car out of their rally programme instead of the other way around.
Actually Toyota had a couple of all wheel drive rally cars before this vehicle this is nothing new for Toyota has a history of building excellent performance cars. This Yaris is nothing new this is coming from Toyotas racing history and Pedegree

It's more fun to drive and that's all that counts (in such a car). Forget pure speed, it's all about the smile on your face when driving it! Most of the safety systems can be switched off easily or permanently (via the dealer), the mirror position becomes normal in no-time, the gearbox is indeed mega and the lack of space and the interieur quality, who cares... at least I can put the kids in the back if I want.
Love the car and content. Just a thought, since you have IMT is the pedal box more set up for left foot braking perhaps? Makes more sense in a modern rally weapon. 😁
That is a brilliant intro to the content, absolutely epic into! Lit 🔥 Thanks Pete for the review, my only grip is that my Sage coffee machine sounds better than the Yaris!
What a great little car, it might have a small boot, not a lot of rear leg room but both of those are 100% bigger than the GP3 . Not driven the Yaris but prefer the look of the GP3 just for the wing but it does look like you can use the power a lot better of the Yaris on the road but be interesting putting the 2 on track
Thank you Petrolped for another brilliant review.I know they're not comparable but if we get a similar smile on our face with a Fiesta ST I do not see why spend >30k for this Yaris. Having said that sounds from your review a fun little beast.
Well Pete I think you quite like this car to put it mildly! As soon as you were driving it you were beaming and as an experienced driver it would take a lot to impress you. The plastics inside this rally car were never going to luxurious because rally drivers are not looking for luxury, they are just wanting a car for a purpose. Toyota are really good at making motors and this one seems to be the bees knees, so we will see you again soon👍👍👍
What I noticed in the Video is that I needed a bigger screen because your smile was too bit to fit on my screen! It reminds my of those few short lived but very exciting cars such as the Renault 5 Raider or the Pu-Cup 205 4x4 plastic pigs from the Paris Daker!
Fantastic well made video and awesome review. Think we are going to see the prices of these rise for sometime. Soon there will be a rear seat delete for it just like the Abarth. But what a great fun car.
Great summary, what you said about the mini's was something that crossed my mind a few years back. Buy 2 write-offs (mark 1 cooper s and early all4) and try and convert the cooper into 4wd rally car for the road. Can only dream though 🤣. Agreed 100% the GR gives you that in 1 off the shelf package. Wish I had the cash to get one. Maybe Toyota will release a GRMN version with 350+ HP and people will sell this version at a knockdown price. Got my fingers crossed 😂

Perfect for the B road to work blast... if only I still worked in the job that used such roads! This car would be a perfect choice.
That is a brilliant intro to the content, absolutely epic into! Lit 🔥 Thanks Pete for the review, my only grip is that my Sage coffee machine sounds better than the Yaris!
Been looking forward to this review. Have a great weekend all.
Hold in the lane departure button for 3 seconds disables it
Great honest review that isnt caught up in the hype
Thanks 👍
My father had his 1st Toyota in the 70's a Corolla 1200cc ohc twin choke carb, he showed up many a Mk3 1600 Cortina 😀 Good review Pedro 👍
excellent review of this GR Yaris, certainly one of the better ones...
Thanks mate 👍
Great review, love this car, massive Toyota fan🤩😎🇳🇴
Sorry I missed the two hour window.Fantastic vid, great review.
Oooooooh that's a nice looking BEAST
What a great little car, it might have a small boot, not a lot of rear leg room but both of those are 100% bigger than the GP3 . Not driven the Yaris but prefer the look of the GP3 just for the wing but it does look like you can use the power a lot better of the Yaris on the road but be interesting putting the 2 on track
On the strength off this video that i sent to my friend in Australia he has gone out and bought one !!!!!!!!!
Wow 😳
Always a pleasure to watch your car reviews Pete. Neighbour has got one in red, very jealous!!!
Thanks Peter 👍
Yay just been informed its up loaded ..... It takes a long time to get to Cork even in a digital age! ;-) Missing Bournemouth!
Thank you Petrolped for another brilliant review.I know they're not comparable but if we get a similar smile on our face with a Fiesta ST I do not see why spend >30k for this Yaris. Having said that sounds from your review a fun little beast.
Not in winter😉
😂😂😂
Fantastic well made video and awesome review. Think we are going to see the prices of these rise for sometime. Soon there will be a rear seat delete for it just like the Abarth. But what a great fun car.
Ordered the Scarlet Flare GR in April to replace my Clubman JCW 306bhp. Expected delivery end of June 2022. 15 months to wait. 70th birthday present
Your wish has come true with the grmn version but not 350 hp and only for the Japanese market
As always Ped, great review, but I still think for the fun and the price point no one is beating the Fiesta ST.
Totally agree, too much hype with so many negatives. I can’t think of any on the fiesta st
Compared to a supercharged saxo, the Fiesta ST is boring.
@@Wankdorf183you Think! a st is anything but boring. It out performs the spec of the Saxo both in acceleration, top speed, toque and mpg and all on 3 pots. So, not sure how you come to that conclusion. But I guess its all fun in the end.
Reminds me of my Clio RS. Trouble with that was explaining to friends and colleagues what type of Clio it was. Always got a strange reaction when saying I drive a Clio. Same with this. Most Yaris are driven by Doris to church !
Great video Ped. I am due to pick up my GR next month after ordering in November. Can’t wait!!!
Lucky you 👍
Daihatsu Coure Avanzato TR-XX R4 was the cheapest ever UK rally car. Never realized it at the time but it was the most fun car I'd ever own... so far. So want this new rally homologation!
It’s good seeing you have fun in a car.
It looks and drives stunningly, solid white is the colour for me !!! Interior wise I'm happy with, apart from needing a seat height adjustable passenger seat.
I'd have this over any Mini all day long.
Manual all the way, will check one out one day after my clio 182 breaks or my golf r manual 👍
You have a mud flap problem book in an appointment now!!!! will have put right soon enough
