The mnemonic "Citrate Is Krebs Starting Substrate For Making OAA" just BLEW MY MIND. Trying so hard to memorize it and this made it sooo much easier!! Thank you Lord for you and your team! Keep it up!!
@@lachyt5247 OP didn't say they weren't taught this in medical school, they said they didn't understand it. And yes it's troubling someone can get through medical school without understanding the very basics of cell metabolism.
He literally takes a chapter and condenses it into a 32 min video with more simplifications and better understanding than any professor I have had. Goodness gracious I only need him as a teacher for everything. He gets straight to the point without the fluff.
25:18 - “Look at this freak...(points at enzyme)” cracked me up! As an artist crossing over into science I’ve learned so much from your methods and use of imagery. Thank you for making these lessons available.
32:15 minutes and no mistaken terms, no mistakes at all! So fluent, quick enough and revising the necessary parts. I don't know how much work you put in this video (I think a lot in order to be so professional) but it's amazing👏
I don't think you realise just how fantastic of a teacher you are. You explain topics in great detail while simultaneously making it very easy for students to digest and remember everything. That's not easy nor common. You have a true gift! Thank you for sharing it with us.
I learnt a mnemonic for the Krebs cycle and I thought I should share: Can- citrate I- isocitrate Keep- a Ketoglutarate Selling- succinyl CoA $3x- succinate For- fumarate Money- malate Officer- oxyloacetate
I cannot thank you enough for your videos. I have watched probably 15-20 of them so far (some multiple times) which represents a significant amount of my study time because you explain these processes so clearly, you repeat the names of steps or enzymes and recap often, you draw pictures to help us remember, you give clinical applications to relate these concepts to real-world issues, and you are organized and methodical in your explanations making it easy to follow along. PLEASE keep up the good work and keep producing these incredible videos! Many, many thanks!
Your videos greatly helped me understanding biochemistry in med school! As a visual learner and as a person who loves taking down notes, I now know the bigger picture of these metabolic pathways and their clinical significance! Continue doing videos like these! :)
You just helped me memorize this whole cycle, having spent a week circling in panic with only acetyl coa and oaa in my head. A stable genius you are, Zach.
Thank you. I'm just a layman, trying to educate myself about my diabetes.. So, the kidneys are very important to me. (I began my 'research' there). And so is getting at least a basic understanding about as much biology as I can cope with... I have to say young man.. your style of teaching is so very refreshing. You quite obviously have a thorough and total grasp of your subject.. and talk with such mastery and confidence. I'm impressed.. as are a great many medical students commenting here. I can hardly believe that I'm actually beginning to get a handle on the Kreb Cycle !! I first came across it (Kreb..) some months ago.. and quickly became a jibbering idiot trying to take it in.. and soon ran away with my tail between my legs !! I only wish I'd come across your channel earlier. I've subbed.. I've liked.. and I'll be seeing a whole lot more of your work in the future. Thanks again. .

You're the best ninja nerd...I love the way you explain every concept so simple and easy to understand. You're such a blessing, please keep it burning💯🔥
I got a whole medical degree and this man easily explained such tough concepts of my first year in 1 video with such attention to detail I didn't even blink before subscribing what an angel. thank you. thank you. you saved me.
your explanation is so so amazing i've seen tons of videos on biochem here and yours are the best by far. love every single video in this series thank you so much for making these
I first left a comment on here after first watching and for the first ever time gaining an understanding of this 3 months ago, I'm now 9 weeks into medical school and Glycolysis, TCA cycle and Electron Transport Chain crept up, honestly I did not understand the lecturer at all, I watched your Glycolysis video and made a literal transcript of it! And now just finished watching this video of yours on the TCA/Kreb/Citric Acid cycle and made a literal transcript of what you have said and honestly I genuinely understand this! THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME AT MEDICAL SCHOOL! Love from Dundee School of Medicine, Scotland, UK! Keep going!!
my first exam is in 4 hours and I'm so glad I found you earlier rather than midway through the semester. Let me tell you that while I pulled an all nighter and watching the glycogenolysis video, I was thinking that's what my liver must be doing right now cause my brain was in desperate need of the glucose lol. You're a blessing in this world. Thank you for making these lectures so interesting. They really made me smile and giggle a little bit. my favorite part was when you said "look at this Humpty Dumpty enzyme" lol that cracked me up and I love your googlie eyed enzymes too
Just finished watching this now with full focus! First time ever I’ve actually gained an understanding of the progressive process. Thank you Ninja Nerd!
During my six years of university education (masters included), the concepts always seemed elusive to me. With just a week left until my MCAT, you managed to explain the Krebs cycle to me in just 30 minutes, and I'm incredibly grateful!

@@NinjaNerdOfficial sir what will happen to those substances (like for example alpha-ketogluterate) if their next step is being stopped (succinyl COA binds to alpha-KG D.H. to inhibit conversion of alpha-ketogluterate to succinyl COA)? will those substances just stay in place?
Your online lectures are truly gamechangers! Pre-med student checking in, thank you so much for your content, you do a fantastic job!
