- My car has almost zero miles on it. Somehow the PPF got scratched sitting in my garage. The good news is I was able to get that darn scratch taken care of.

10 points to PPF for protecting the paint.
0 point to Matt for not showing us the scratches before working on them….
Still great content, thanks Matt!
Ha, ha...
5:01 bro. Did you not actually watch the video?
Rupes is just a name. That LE cordless looks awesome. Cant wait to see a full review on it. 👊🏽👍🏽
Did you interrogate the dog? Looks like claw scratches 😂
My bet would be that Chase jumped up against the side of the car. Good that you were able to fix it 👍🏻
This is really interesting Matt. I’ve always questioned how to do a spot repair with my coated car. My theory was the same as you did it, but now I see someone actually doing it in practice. Thanks 👍
"Woof. Sorry Dad." - Chase
One scratch and the PPF paid for itself!
Seeing the battery powered LE 5 inch prototype was the best part about this video. That thing looked smoother and quieter than any of the other battery 5 inch polishers. 🤔
Yes, the prototype is already running pretty smooth and I think we are on a good way with it.
@@Diemo_LEplease bring a 21mm as well.
@@Diemo_LE Any update on it?
@@whitegoodman7465 We will be at the MTE in Orlando end of January. You can get a hand on the machine there. We hope we can have the 5 inch cordless done at the 2nd quarter of this year.
@@Diemo_LE Sweet, thanks. Will definitely be my next polisher, tired of cords.
Got the dogs pawprints all over it !!😅
Love that Brewster. Could be a cat or a fox whilst it was outside. All the animal scratches I had on my cars were cats. Dogs only jump at cars if there are people they know inside.
Great video 👍 quick and to the point! Glad it came out 👏
Glad you were able to fix the "unhappy" scratches on the car. As for the Rupes polisher...I will take the Milwaukee any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I've had exactly the same marks Matt. Checked my security camera and turns out it was squirrels jumping up onto my car, using the rear quarter as a springboard before they leapt to the garage roof. Their claws are light but sharp and caused the scratches..... always using the same route over the car meant the scratches weren't immediately identifiable as animal damage as they were grouped together..
I’m glad you were able to fix. In fact I thought you handled it quite calmly. Kudus!
I probably would have lost it for a bit then fixed it.
I just came across your video. Like the title of your channel I too am rather obsessed maintaining the condition of my car. I have since July 22 owned a Genesis Electrified G80, one of very few that have been sold here in the UK.
Also like yourself my car from delivery had Xpel gloss self healing PPF applied.
I have noticed on the rear drivers side passenger door (remember our steering wheels are on the right!), a out half way down a scratch in the PPF (about half to an inch long). I have tried applying heat - without success, and as my car is coated with Gyeon ceramic coating, their PPF Polish product, unfortunately under strong light it is still visible. I was always under the impression that unlike a painted surface where machine polishing is removing omicron of lacquer from the surface thereby blending in a scratch, with PPF polishing will not have that effect as you're not removing a layer of the PPF, or is it the case that machine polishing has the same effect?
Also I think I would be right in assuming the polishing will remove the PPF's ability to self heal in that location.
I would welcome your comments, and perhaps which polishing compound you were using.
Many thanks in advance...
Self healing is pretty limited and largely rendered obsolete once you put a coating on top of the PPF. Polishing it will surely remove that capability. (Although self healing is a bit overblown in its ability.). You probably just need a better polish. The Gyeon PPF polish in likely not great. Grab some Sonax Cut Max. The combo of that and the heat it produces will likely do the trick.
I don’t have anxiety but seeing those scratches stressed me the f$#@ out! Glad you were able to clean it up. I’m a huge watch nerd that has spent way too much on watches and I love the Batman Matt! Be careful with the watch collecting, the disease escalates quickly! Lol
Talked to LE and they said this cordless 5inch DA will be released mid-August, we definitely need a video about it.
Hi there we ached on other videos from yourself after you clean wheels you spray with chemical . What is it you use thanks
The way Matt ripped that tape off seemed really personal.
I need one of the Mirkas soooo bad in my life. It sounds so robust while turning.
Uncle Matty’s watch game is looking strong lately 👀
I noticed as well.. Rolex gmt?
Matt really like your Watch ✅🤙🏼
Got that white gold rollie! Very nice 👌🏼
Is that a Batman sub I see??? love it
Im buying LE cordless when its out for sale
Dog gets an instant ban from this area of the house!
Hi Matt, do you have the Mirka 3" Cordless Angled Random Orbit Polisher in stock?
Yep we sure do! www.obsessedgarage.com/products/mirka-arop-b-3-polisher?variant=44392217280663
@@ObsessedGarage how about the 5.0Ah?
Hi Matt,
I see from your short that you're using Liquid Elements Prototype on your BEAUTIFUL GT3. I'm going to invest quite a bit of money (for me) to get the best polishers.
I have the following polishers in my basket:
1) Liquid Elements T4000. However, is the prototype better? Do you have access?
2) Liquid Elements A1000
3) Mirka 3" (5.0Ah) - shows on backorder
Lovely watch Matt! 😎
When you ripped that tape off I could feel the "f*** this s***"... At least that's what i would've said to myself in my head
That tape got you more hott then the scratches 😂
OK, I'm going to polish my PPF on my GT4 today using my Mirka. I only have a few hairline scratches - nothing like yours. I'll follow your techniques as best I can, but my question is the polishing compound. In my lab, I have RUPES D-A Fine Polish, Rupes Uno Pure Ultra-Fine, and Chemical Guys P4, but you use the Griot's "fast" correcting cream. Are you favoring the cream over these three?
Thanks for shipping the Liquid Elements T1000 so fast. Selling my 46yr old lab, but when I have time, I'll be using that on my wheels.
Hi Matt, can you answer the 2 questions from 2wks ago? Thx!
BTW, the A1000 works to perfection.
When my Corvette gets scratched I just have a new plastic panel shipped from Kentucky that is already perfectly color matched to the rest of the car.
Shoot I just get wider fenders every time I need a new one, give it a few years an ill have a full widebody kit.
That LE polisher even sounds better than the Rupes.
That´s one of our main focus, to make the machines as quite as technical possible. If the sound is not right when we assemble the machines, they get tossed out by quality control.
Matt i've always wondered if you can spot repair and coat like this, this has been my one gripe with a coating, having to re-do an entire panel as most coatings have that darkening effect. keen to see what the transition between new and old coating looks like and water behaviour
You can't see it. It looks perfect.
9:32 Matty getting more and more frustrated with the new Rupes 😅
Any idea when the le battery will be available ?
Not for a while
I have Xpel ppf myself. Was told that you shouldnt put CSL or similar on top of that and only use Halo?
They were incorrect. Works great on it.
Glad to see you were able to fix it! Uncle Matty, does your Solo sprayer ever get kinda vacuum locked if that makes sense? About every 30 seconds of use I have to untwist the bottle a little, it’s sucks in air, then it’ll spray again.
There is a simple fix for it. Hit up support. I forget what Tommy did to mine.
I have cameras everywhere, including my garages. Maybe check the cameras you do have to identify who was around during that timeframe. Then; they walk the plank! Lol
You didn’t use dry ice?
Ha, ha... Dry Ice doesn't fix scratches.
Hey Matt, I can’t believe that Chase is getting the blame in the comments. it doesn’t look like a dog did those scratches to me at all but of course I’m not there. do you think if the car wasn’t PPFed The scratches would’ve been too deep and not been able to be buffed out.? Glad you were able to remove them. Have a good one.
I'm pretty sure it's from someone leaning on the car.
Hi Matt, just let the Sun take care of it - PPF is ver much self healing in the sun or with application of moderate heat. Try it on a scrap piece ! Not that I approve Chase can do this again…😂
Did you watch the video? He literally used a heat gun to see if it would self heal out first
We will rebuild. Thoughts and prayers
What about a deeper gouge? Can that be fixed
No, that would require replacement.
Do you see any texture difference at the edge of non polished and polished sections? I have csl and exo v5 over, when I attempted polishing sections of it it looked hazy at the edge where I suppose the pad was not polishing as well as in the center under pressure. Does ceramic over it hide the haziness ?
Perfect Finish and foam cleaned it up.
Looked hazy, even on camera before the Perfect Finish.
Ha, ha... No
Came out to my tahoe one day and saw a scratch straight to the metal and a small dent.
After thouroughly terrifying them, one admits he was being a spaz and swinging his backpack around and "bumped it a little" 🙄
is there a eta on the liquid element polishers?
The ETA for the corded version is end of May. The battery powered one we are looking probably at the end of this year, but no promises made!
Quick question Matt, how do you prevent haze after polishing? Or how do you fix it? if it were to happen
You have to finish polish to remove had. Foam and a finer polish.
Could it be from the cover? I would wager that dirt or dust got in between the PPF and cover causing the scratches.
I have a 21 C8 with full XPEL ppf with the ceramic coating infused, what should I purchase to have everything I need to keep my cars like yours? 💪
I would get the OG Car Washing and Wheel Cleaning Package. www.obsessedgarage.com/products/ultimate-car-washing-solution
www.obsessedgarage.com/products/ultimate-wheel-and-tire-solution
@@ObsessedGarage So you don't recommend a tool for the buffing or polishing too? I have always seen random people use it for washing however with full body wrap I wasn't sure if it would do more harm than good? BTW you guys are so awesome for what you do! Thank you! don't usually comment.
How's the balance on that new LE prototype? Does the battery unbalance it or did they counter it with more weight on the pad end?
10:48 The machine is very much balanced towards the front of the machine, even with the battery. That was one of the focus when we designed this machine.
It's pretty darn legit. I want to hate it, but...
Yeah, I would say that’s 100% Chase Matt…. I wonder if you could put something on his nails or maybe they just need a little trimming this happened to my dad ago with our dog…..
Interesting wish you would have used a paint thickness gauge before you started. Just wondering if you are removing a micro layer of PPF..
That wouldn't work.
I’m surprised the rupes didn’t go sailing across the garage 😅
Hey Matt could you check if the self healing still works in the sections you polished please? looking forward to meeting you when you come visit
down under.
Self healing is largely a bunch of nonsense. Anything that I need to self heal would be too big. I generally don't get little scratches.
I turned up to pick up my new fl5 type r today and there was a scratch that will need to be painted on the front Bumper grr' the salesman could not understand why I did not want the vehicle but they had already registered it ' I didn't take delivery and suggested I'd be happy for them to swap the Bumper over with thier demo after I have a chance to inspect the demo's Bumper ' definitely not accepting a damaged new vehicle or a repaired one for for full price.
Got a similar scratch on my Cayenne, hurts.
That spray bottle is insane
Definitely looks like Chase was looking for treats in the Touring
It was michelle while wrestling with that pickleball machine that gets parked there. 😂😂😂
Looks like Chase the dog is the culprit.
my dog did something similar on my Corvette trying to get a moth that landed on the roof, now no dogs allowed in garage
Man you need a museum lol
PPF works wonders.
Okay, jokes aside... first thing in the morning I go to my car which is sitting in my garage... and every #$%@$% single time, one of my exterior mirrors is heavily misadjusted! Wtf? The whole family was already interrogated and nothing. I am gonna check the security camera recordings cuz this is already driving me nuts. 😂
Although the car is 99.9% perfect, everytime Matt sees the car, the first thing he'll do is laser focus the 0.1% imperfect part - the scratch 😜
Goodbye Brewster Green Porscha 😔
My guess Wife's handbag 👜 with metal trim and wedding ring combo...😅
My iBrid kinda does the same thing. Just stops and blinks. Changing batteries has little effect. Sometimes just restarting works. It’s been like that since new. Jim White had the same issue. He punted his iBrids for the Carbon Collective 1” cordless. No idea who makes those.
You should definitely give our 1 inch machine a try! You will be surprised how good it will perform against the IBrid. They´ll be available in the shop by end of May.
I blame the car cover, not Chase. Someone has to stick up for the dog!
Time to sell the car!
You may be right....
Garage needs security cameras.😄
I've never had PPF so I don't know how to judge what I'm seeing. Let's assume it was the dog, in all honesty, what do you think that would've done to the paint? Better or worse than what we're seeing?
It looks like someone brushed up against it.
Somethings not right with the rupes, shouldn't sound like that.
Sucks for Rupes....Matt is the last guy you want your brand new product to fail with. I've been using it for a couple of months now and it's amazing but if it fails after the warranty ends I'll pick up one of the LE cordless options for sure.
@@Murph97 why would it affect rupes? Matt could just send it in as it’s still covered under warranty. Also, rupes’ products are more aimed at prof and daily use while a majority of OG’s followers are more hobbyist/diy’ers
@@Murph97Thank you for your interest in our products. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed.
@@YuriTarded-hf1nv It was mainly a joke like if Matt decided to not sell the product based on this failure. On a serious note, I think he is highly influential in the industry and his endorsement means a lot to a lot of people. I've bought and mostly not bought a ton of products based on his recommendation.
Re: rupes are more for professionals and OG followers are hobbyists. I'm a pro and I follow him. I don't have metrics on their followers. Matt has said he's a curator. He sells what he thinks are the best products available that's why he sells an $875 3in polisher 😀to hobbyists and professionals alike.
@@Diemo_LE I'm sure I won't be disappointed! Excited to see what you all put out.
Bueler,Bueler, Bueler, Anyone 🐾🐶
How many miles on that car ?
379
@@ObsessedGarage very nice. Is the plan to drive the car at all in the future or keep the mileage where it’s at for collector purposes ?
I'm not decided yet. The only reason it is so low is due to my issues with driving.
It won’t self heal out in the sun?
Sounds good as a sales pitch. But does it really? I'd like to see some before and after pics. Not some cliche that gets passed around as fact.
@@timkinley1779 I haven’t a clue if it does or not Tim. I just know I’ve heard it several times over the years. And generally I’m a seeing is believing kind of person myself as well. It obviously didn’t with a heat gun.
Matt just poor hot water on it
Self healing😊😊😊
Ha, ha… PPF doesn’t have magical powers.
but you will still always know it was there!
Have I come to the right place that has a dog for sale?
Rupes Reveal will melt PPF, for the record.
if you have any cats in the area they tend to slide down cars
You need some CARTEC in your life...Diamond Cut 3000, Compound 5000, Final Cut 9000, and Ultra Finish 12000....no fillers Brother
I've had all of that. This is better.
I wanted a "ta-da" once the repair was successful.
Everyone is banned from the Garage, for ever! (Including Dogs). /s
That tape was like a bmw exhaust … gone!
Looks like the Rupes is getting punted instead.
First cause anxiety rose when I read the title
Chase is suspect numero uno
someone absolutely knows what they did--you waterboardin' any suspects?
Next up you’re gonna put CCTV in the garage.
This is why i don't buy new cars.. i'll spend half of my life trying to keep it looking new and show room floor worthy..
wtf do they put clear coats on cars anymore
Very little. In the grand scheme of saving weight, primer bond/base coat/ clear coat has become less thick. Most of these were to hide manufacturing blemishes and corrosion resistance. Quality control and the use of different body panel materials require less paintwork.
cameras man
Washing clean cars and polishing scratches that don't exist. What is next? 😂😂😂
Ohh come on. That's unfair. Have some respect for a man with passion 🙂
How does he not have self healing PPF?
It is self healing, but it has limits.
Chase 😀😀😀
Ouch
Looks like dog Claw marks. I would never keep that car uncovered at home.
👍
