ah yes, smashing your bike over the finishing line by hitting the crowd or crashing it on purpose is a time honoured tradition in Road Rash and i'm happy to see it done here.
I did that on the Genesis too =D Another game where that was possible was Death Rally on MSDOS. You could cross the finish line and still hit some people, including the guy holding the squared banner resulting in a big pile of blood LOL
I just love the fact that as a 8 year old boy when I played this, there was an off chance that when I won, the cut scene was of my player as a girl dragging a dude wearing a jean tuxedo and cowboy hat off to bone.

I sucked at this game so i saw the loser/busted/wrecked cutscenes a lot. Was still worth it bc they were hilarious. Made even losing fun (and i’m normally a poor sport at video games). Good times.
In 1995 I lived in a 1963 Airstream in Loveland, CO while working at an ad agency in Fort Collins. I had a 3DO and played this game every night until I completed it. Still my all-time favorite game. The Immortal on Genesis was pretty cool too but Road Rash rocked especially with the killer soundtrack.
This game had so much about it, the gruelling challenge of just upgrading bikes, the gta sort of disregard for your fellow man, and a badass soundtrack that locked me in to Soundgarden forever. Cutscenes were pretty hardcore for an 8 year old too, good times.
Great fun this game. Had it as part of the "Help" compilation back in the day, bundled with Broken Sword and Myst. 14 year old me ended up putting Rusty Cage, Simple Passing and Auto Surgery from the soundtrack on mixtapes at the time.
We didn’t have computers when we were kids. I remember always going to cyber station to play this game with friends. We spent so much time over there. GTA 3, midtown madness, mortal Kombat, crazy taxi and many many other games. Man I miss my childhood.. life used to be so good when we were kids :(

Racing games that have traffic are the best. I like the details of the levels to make them feel real like cities with pedestrians and police on the road, this is a fun racing game.

And, since i ran out of characters (lol) heres a hint i'm not sure you know.. pick up the DMG1000 ( the yellow sport bike ) on psx version it goes like 143mph by itsself but is heavy..but theres 2 special things with that bike, #1 if you hold brake and gas together it speeds up free boost..goes 160 tops !! and everytime you cross the finish your player continues freely longer (gliding to a stop) and then you see your player have a victory fist pump with everything else on screen froze! :)
I still play this great game loved road rash on the mega drive n got it for ps1 i play it on ma ps2 , a game for any ones collection, legend n great rock songs too 👍
