Well, snes had many more beats up than Genesis due to the broad japanese support for the snes who developed most of these types of titles, but Genesis still kept the best of all, Street of Rage 2 😎
A good video showing off each system's beat 'em up library there, but I would have liked to have had all the clips of the same areas in the cases of same games that were on both systems where possible to be able to make a clearer comparison of each version there. Still, much appreciated as a little compilation.

Yes, I totally agree that Streets of Rage and Ninja Turtles are the best beat em ups. And yes, the double dragon on the nes is also better than on the genesis. But super double dragon on the snes is greatly underestimated. I like it no less than turtles or streets of rage. There's a very interesting combat system with blocks and grabs. And also very smart enemies.

The video became diarrhea when you compared Altered Beast with Power Rangers.
Super Double dragon and Batman Returns are 2 of the best but least talked about Beat em ups do SNES, I’ve always had just as much fun playing those two compared to Turtles in Time and Final Fight which are usually hailed as the best beat em ups on SNES
Both have their good beat 'em up games. I usually like the finishing touches of the games on the Super Nintendo, the sound, graphics, gameplay, etc. The best 16-bit beat 'em up is Final Fight, followed by Turtles in Time and then Streets of Rage. I recommend Ghost Chaser Densei for the Super Famicom, it's amazing!
@@3xperiment8 Yeah so? Many great companies have stopped making consoles or never made any consoles at all. Sega was doing a lot of different stuff from the early 1980's to the late 1990's and the arcades were always their number one market, but they've also made consoles, PC's, video cards, big arcade units that could link up and/or had lot's of moving parts, virtual reality, lot's of different add-ons etc. They did a lot of crazy and some really good stuff, but they're not in the console market anymore. So what? SNK's Neo Geo AES (and CD) was a beast of a 16-bit console and only sold nearly one million units in total. They've also stopped making consoles long ago. Does this make them a disgrace? No, even with the risky path they took and going out of the console business, lot's of people still enjoy their legacy of games. The disgrace comes from people calling these companies failures.
Both consoles are loaded with great beat em ups. On average, Genesis beat em ups have slightly smaller sprites but fill the screen with 4+ enemies. They also tend to have deeper, more varied movesets. Snes beat em ups are generally slightly better looking with larger sprites. They tend to have fewer enemies on screen, usually three. Additionally, Movesets are usually less varied. Best beat em ups of the 16-bit era. 1. SOR 2 2. SOR 3 3. Final Fight CD 4. Turtles in Time 5. SOR 1 6. Golden Axe 3 7. The King of Dragons 8. The Ninja Warriors (would be best on Snes if it were 2P) 9. Final Fight 3 10. Sonic Blast Man 2
No, it's not about smaller sprites. Sega just have in most of games 320*224 resolution vs snes with 256*224. That's why often sega sprites look smaller ...
@colos3284 No surprise here you took a generalization and ran with it. I am very aware of the resolution differences. The Same size sprites will appear slightly smaller on Genesis when a 320 vs 256 example occurs.
@mikeylovespizza4012 It isn't going in my top 10. Very good game, but ultimately, a lazy effort by Konami. I still can't get over the dissapointment I have every time I have to playthrough the Gauntlet stage. It's sad because it plays slightly better then Turtles in Time. The music is also incredible.
