    I never thought I'd see a GDQ run of this game. Like they said, if you're doing a serious WR attempt run, there's like a 3% chance to even finish a run. This is amazing!

      No trolling, but i could not understand your comment, pkmn ruby, saphire or emerald were already run on other gdq events.

      Is the 3% because it’s incredibly likely for your run to just die because of bad RNG? I didn’t quite understand exactly where that 3% came from.

      To be fair
      It's still good damage, under the right conditions
      Super effective and with STAB?
      That's still 138 base power
      Super effective or STAB only is where it starts to fall
      That's 95 or 69 base power respectively.

    would it be faster to buy the thunder tm fpr kyogre from lillycove department store to save setting up on glacia and maybe better damage on wallace as well?

    • @Briannug
      @Briannug 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      With its low accuracy, it would be too risky for a marathon run. In a marathon run you want to finish the speedrun in the safest way but still fast.

    • @liamhop6182
      @liamhop6182 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      glacia uses hail which fucks thunder accuracy

    • @wish_cave
      @wish_cave 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      usually the accuracy doesn't come into play since thunder will always hit in rain, but the one fight that thunder would save the most time on (glacia) is also the one that constantly changes your weather. shock wave is enough for wallace.
      the biggest problem is that the rival blocks the dept. store in lilycove until you fight them. the amount of time saved from thunder doesn't make up for having to go out of your way through the extra fight, dialog, and shopping.

    • @mcfluffikinz7365
      @mcfluffikinz7365 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To enter Lillycove Department store you need to do the Rival Fight, which you normally skip in the speedrun.

    Wouldn’t switching to Japanese or another less verbose language save some time as well?

    • @SongbirdOfficial
      @SongbirdOfficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Problem is, in the older Pokemon games, the cartridges are regional, so you don't get to pick the language at the start. So they'd have to find a cartridge from Japan to use.

    How tf did he catch Kyogre without attacking him once?

    • @TheSquirrel47
      @TheSquirrel47 4 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      I think he did it by manipulating the RNG. You might notice that he was carefully listening when he threw the pokeball- there was probably a cue in the music for perfect timing on the item input. He mentioned a three frame window, which is probably when the RNG (which is not actually totally random, but instead governed by an internal clock that cycles through values so fast that it seems random to humans) provides a value that lets the catch happen. So it looks like luck but it's actually possible to control

    • @Deepestdrip
      @Deepestdrip 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@TheSquirrel47 Almost but not exactly. You can't see it but he has a flowtimer setup on the side (if you aren't familiar, basically a metronome that beeps to help him count down so he can hit the inputs for the encounter and the ball toss). He uses this tool for the mudkip manip as well. Otherwise, there is quite literally no way to know what the right timing is.

    How could he tell it was a mild Kyogre?

    • @McDinkle69
      @McDinkle69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      3 months late, but he says he can tell by the HP value. I imagine he's just memorized the stats of a bunch of possible kyogres around the intended manipulation and most of them probably have different HP IVs and values.
