Nice job Ray. Even without paint protection, I like your idea to stick the little bumpers to the deflector instead the hood. Also, you obviouly know this but throwing it out there for those that don't, Always install all the fasteners, screw, bolts ect. before tightening any of them. I'm a retired aircraft mechanic and this is an important simple lesson to learn. Makes live so much easier.

Thanks for the question, I haven’t had problems with bugs and rocks hitting my windshield but I really don’t drive in those conditions, also the only problem is with the paint on the deflector. It had been peeling off. I’m have to strip off the old stuff and repainted it . That is the only real problem with this item. Other than that it’s been working out well.

BEWAR!!! I just got mine from Ford with my Ford pass points. They don't say anything about basically gluing to your hood with double backed foam tape. Not a chance that that's going to happen on my new 2023. What if one day you decide you don't want it anymore for some reason? The paint would never be right. Back in the day, they had brackets and bolted up under the hood so that you could replace a damaged one or just take it off with no damage to the paint. Your video was a great tutorial but I'm sending mine back. Not one of Fords better ideas.

    • @DIYRAY

I agree with you. That why I placed the rubber bumper on the deflector instead of the hood.

  • @patriotone755

Ray, did you not install the two strips of foam? This is an important piece to reduce vibration of the plastic deflector on the front lip edge of your hood. I did not see it in your video.

@@patriotone755 Thanks for the info. I refitted the deflector with the 2 foam strips on the bottom leading edge of the deflector and this effectively blocks air from entering the mid section and causing the deflector to vibrate. Seems completely fine now at over 80mph.

My instructions showed the exact spot on the inside of the hood deflector where the small rubber bumpers are to be installed. If you look hard you will see the spot marked with little dots on the inside of the hood deflector this is where you stick the rubber bumpers. This is so you don’t stick the bumpers on your painted hood or paint protection. The hood which gets really hot from engine heat which will eventually cause the adhesive on the bumper to break down, release and fail. Stick em on the inside of the hood protector where they belong. 👍🏻 Just passing it forward fellas!
