What would you think the cause of BOTH side mirrors not adjusting out? Not the whole folding thing... but the actual top mirror not going left on either mirror (to the outside on drive and to the inside on passenger). Tried replacing the switch with no luck.
Great video! I just watched the first 3-4 minutes and was able to go out to my truck and replace that turn signal light that everyone breaks because...well, I broke mine. We have a 2021 F-150 XL with the towing mirrors and all the parts/process for removing was the same. However, I did not need to remove it from the truck and I did not need to remove the motor. It all came apart pretty easily and luckily all went back together nicely too.

Great video. I smacked a branch and broke the turn signal light in the passenger mirror. One thing I will add, on a ‘22, I did not have to remove the mirror motor to get the parts separated to swap the light.
So when taking mine apart I managed to break the connector that goes to the BLIS led. Now I'm getting a BLIS System Failure alert. Does anyone know where I can get that specific connector to replace the broken one?

followed his instructions and it broke both mirrors while trying to get it out. :/. screw driver was fully behind the mirror as no to put all the pressure on one spot too.
Thank you, I needed this to help me remove the mirror glass. Our lame-ass manuals simply say use a screwdriver and gently pry. Your video gave pry points.

Meant to post this question on day of vid release. What is a recommended maintenance plan for folding mirrors? I did not find any details in the owners manual or via "G00gle". My '17 F350 "DD", i've noticed that my driver side mirror is just a tad slower inbound & outbound compared with the passenger side. I've tried spaying some dry graphite lube in friction areas to "help" but no changes. Looking to the man for suggestions, thanks brother.

Question. 2011 SuperDuty. Passenger mirror won’t auto fold any longer. Won’t stay in place above 60mph. Can I repair the gears or whatever might be the problem? Or just replace?

Just took my mirror apart today to fix the folding issue. Turns out both detent pins are bent. Ordered two take off folding motor mechanisms to replace mine. I pretty much have everything apart at this point. I did un-bend the detent pins some (could not get them perfect) and tried the mirror and it works, so I know what the problem is and how to fix it. Ford refused to replace it under warranty - given the bent pins, not sure what caused the issue but something is amiss … Thanks for the great video - I recommend removing the puddle light before separating the housing - there is a slot for a screw driver so you can remove it easily and then unplug the wiring. That way it does not get in the way.
The car wash got my mirror, argh. Yes, the marker light cracked but I have one other issue. When i fold the mirrors arms out it extends a little too far and I have to get out of the truck and adjust the arms manually. Thoughts on what might be fixable vs. replacing with a $1000 mirror. Thanks!1
Mark Haney... I have a similar issue but I can't get the plastic trim off the arm pivot area so I can access the folding motor, etc. to check out the detent pins. If you can help, it'd be much appreciated (we can take it offline). I can't find ANY info on the webz. Thanks sir.
Is there a certain way to put the motors back in. I disassembled my mirror to replace the light when I put the mirror back together now the mirror will only adjust to the left and not to the right am I missing something or is the motor now damaged

I was able to buy both side mirrors for under 500.00 CAD. The dealership had quoted me 2145.00 approx. to buy 1 drivers side mirror. My mirror has the motorized mirror, the extension, the folding option. and the defrost, option. It has the signal light, the clearance light, the puddle light and the extra light, and the chrome cap. The ones I replaced did not have the power extension or folding option. I was hoping to replace the motorized part in to the new mirror as waiting for a new mirror all the time was not good. For 6 months they never had the mirror in stock that had all my options on it, so i just decided to try to replace all the internal motor and hope I got it right.
Yesterday I caught my passenger side mirror on my shop door and folded it forwards and now it’s when I try to close or open it, it swings all the way forward like 180 degrees out. What do I need to replace on it?
This was perfect. My mirror was hit, the plastic had a hole in it. Ordered a new one on eBay, they sent me very basic one, took apart both mirrors and was able to pick out only the part that I needed. Kept all my electrical wiring and the sensor. Thank you for the detailed video.
i have the same problem you had with the first video where the mirror doesnt stop and keeps going all the way to the fender how this happened i was backing up in a tight driveway and caught a pine tree which grab the mirror and pulled it all the way forward now it doesnt stop just like your video
I just broke the tab and reinstalled it with a little bit of double sided tape works like a charm. Rather break the tab than this breaking that mirror.
This is exactly the same way the newer GM truck mirrors come apart. They must be sourced out to the same company. The only difference is that one can actually see out of the Ford mirrors while their GM counterpart is a bit on the useless side
I didn't understand your reply. Did you say that "No you can't show me how to disassemble the folding hinge section"? What do you mean by "can service it or get parts for that"? I have done a lot of searching of this common F350 problem and it is usually caused by a plastic gear in the motor drive system that folds the mirrors in and out. There is a company that came up with and sells replacement brass gears to fix this problem. My first issue is figuring out how to remove the plastic cover for the hinge and motor. That's what I am hoping to find out. I sent a message to the company that sells the replacement brass gears for instructions also. I have already removed all of the other plastic covers on the mirror. There are videos on that part that are easy to find. I'm hoping to find someone who knows how to do that. Thanks for the reply.
Do you need to do all this to get to the power folding gear and motor as well? It looks like the plastic sleeves on the arms slide out that way but I haven't looked to deep yet.

If it’s a crew cab there should be a prewired plug in the frame towards the back of the cab. It’s used for either the deployable running boards or the lights that go with them. You can tap into those and run puddle lights under your rocker panels. Colts Way has a good how to video on it

What would cause a Blind spot fault after replacing the lower mirror? I took the whole thing off and plugged everything back in... Perhaps a loose camera connection?
I had a 2000 Escalade I had to replace a broken mirror. Couldn’t get just the mirror. Had to buy the side mirror assembly. Then risk breaking the mirror to get it out for painting. With the super duty will I be able to buy just the mirror?
The bottom section of my mirror has a different mount design. It’s like a round design. Not square like yours. Can you help send me in the right direction here? Please and thank you!
Mirrors should have virtually no wiggle. That said...frequent and constant use will take a toll on the plastic (ABS) materials and eventually cause "mirror wiggle". The more extreme of the adjustment and movement...the quicker the parts will deteriorate and result in "mirror wiggle". Not a good idea to frequently make extreme up, down, left, right adjustments. For example, adjusting the mirror down all the way to see the curb to park. Do not adjust to the extremes and the mirror should have a decent life span.
Awesome video! I could not special order the truck and don’t need the dumbo ear mirrors. My garage is only 9’ wide and we pull them manually to get the truck in without fear of breaking them. I would like to modify the mirrors to reduce their retracted width as much as possible. Do you think this is feasible?
Can the the mirror cover against the door that surrounds the arms be taken apart? I took a rock on a gravel road and put a hole in the plastic I’d like to avoid replacing the whole mirror if possible? Great instructions in this video!

I want to replace my chome caps with black. Can't stand the chrome ones. they reflect headlights into my eyes at night.
You can just pop the top glass off and access the clips that hold the cap on. It's not that big of a pain.

My passenger mirror on my 2008 doesn’t fold…..never has since I bought it. Haven’t found a “how to”video on it. Do you have any leads?

When you separated the halves, are the telescoping and folding motors visible, or do you have to further disassemble?

Do you need to do all this to get to the power folding gear and motor as well? It looks like the plastic sleeves on the arms slide out that way but I haven't looked to deep yet.

If it’s a crew cab there should be a prewired plug in the frame towards the back of the cab. It’s used for either the deployable running boards or the lights that go with them. You can tap into those and run puddle lights under your rocker panels. Colts Way has a good how to video on it

Curious... Just purchased a 2020 F350 and the towing mirrors don't wanna move without finger assistance. can motors be jammed up? Is there a video showing mirror motor maintenance / replacement?
The motors are not service separately from ford

What would cause a Blind spot fault after replacing the lower mirror? I took the whole thing off and plugged everything back in... Perhaps a loose camera connection?
The camers has nothing to do with it

I had a 2000 Escalade I had to replace a broken mirror. Couldn’t get just the mirror. Had to buy the side mirror assembly. Then risk breaking the mirror to get it out for painting. With the super duty will I be able to buy just the mirror?

Mirrors should have virtually no wiggle. That said...frequent and constant use will take a toll on the plastic (ABS) materials and eventually cause "mirror wiggle". The more extreme of the adjustment and movement...the quicker the parts will deteriorate and result in "mirror wiggle". Not a good idea to frequently make extreme up, down, left, right adjustments. For example, adjusting the mirror down all the way to see the curb to park. Do not adjust to the extremes and the mirror should have a decent life span.
On the bottom of the mirror assembly next to the puddle light. What is that small square area item used for?

Awesome video! I could not special order the truck and don’t need the dumbo ear mirrors. My garage is only 9’ wide and we pull them manually to get the truck in without fear of breaking them. I would like to modify the mirrors to reduce their retracted width as much as possible. Do you think this is feasible?

Can the the mirror cover against the door that surrounds the arms be taken apart? I took a rock on a gravel road and put a hole in the plastic I’d like to avoid replacing the whole mirror if possible? Great instructions in this video!

Did you realize that all you had to do is take out upper mirror to access clips for the cap and didn't have to take it all apart
