Haha thanks!! Yeah it took awhile to get the video done. I was having some weird artifact issues with my interface, and it was delaying things. All fixed now!
Some nice, sweet playing there, Mr. Zebra. I went for the(highly) flamed, Cu22 with f-hole. Both splendid choices! In fact, every. Single. Colour choice in the se line is a winner. Really!! Would you agree, Mr. Zebra??!
I love how they cut the veneer edge in just a touch, to reveal the cap as binding. Mine has that, but because it's right up to the edge, you really only see the faux binding side-on. They really should do it on all the models, but they got it right on the zebra wood version, anyway. Bonus for you. (also, you got real binding on the neck & headstock.) BTW, I agree that these PRS SE customs have a thick, sweet sauce when in higher gain lead + delay. It's hard not to sound incredible, lol! Just hit some notes in the right key, and you're golden! ...but when you take the effort to give it a special touch (gentle, tasteful vibrato, dynamic picking, from light finger touch, to aggressive pick attack, etc etc.. Man, she really pays that out in the sweetest tones. Congrats. 'grats to you and me, both! Coupla old middle-age Fogies shredding up their Se's, lol! * I think the sweet, fat, sustain-y sauce we get is in large part due to the Les Paul basic recipe: set-neck, mahogany on mahogany, with a maple cap on the body. I actually wondered if the zebrawood veneer would affect that tone..? I mean, it would to some degree - everything impacts the final tone. I actually went off the zebra cos of this, but it's not until now that I thought it thru properly, realising that's only the veneer, the cap is still maple. I mean, right?!
Thank you, brother!! I hope to have an update video on the LP coming up in the next week or two. Putting the final few coats of the Tru-Oil and then the video should be ready. Thanks for watching!
Wow - the finish on that one is really nice. Feel the same way about the neck and split coil things. I really like the tone of these guitars. Agree about the tuners. Sometimes it is hard for me to determine if the tuning issue is about the nut or the tuners or both. I did get a semi hollow SE with the Vintage burst model. I had Grover mini locking tuners installed (no need to drill a different hole) and it improved matters. I also got a Standard SE and the tone with just the mahogany body - no maple veneer - and I rather like the tone of that. I don't think the tone "suffers" without the maple top, but it is different. On this model, or perhaps this particular guitar, I think the nut and the tuners are both contributing to the tuning issue. For now I put some graphite on the nut - it helps- but eventually I will have to upgrade that whole thing; the tuners for sure. However, it is otherwise the best 500 dollar guitar I ever purchased. In the vintage cherry the Standard SE looks nice - rich color. It is easy on my hands (thin wide neck) and it hardly feels like a toy - as with other models (beginners) in this price range. I am also primarily a fender guy. I have one other humbucking guitar that also features a thinner neck. BTW- I was not all bothered by the Grover (mini) locking tuners having "mini" machine head knobs. I am told that you can unscrew just the knobs on the mini locking tuners and place larger ones on there, but frankly - the smaller ones give you more space to make adjustments. If you have large hands you might not care for that in terms of feeling, or one might not care for the looks, but in either case, I was okay with that all. By the way - what locking tuners did you get for your PRS? I do wonder what would be a good nut replacement for this model. Is it best to get a better PRS nut or can one simply get a tusq nut (XL) as is possible for mexican made strats and teles? Feed back would be appreciated. Thanks for the straight forward vid and demo. Peace all- CM
Thanks for watching, brother!! I got the Schaller tuners I believe as they are drop in and didn't require any drilling. There are a PRS recommended locking tuners replacement, but they have really long shafts and I didn't dig how they looked. Can't remember the brand atm. If I were to change out the nut, I would use the Tusq ones. On the various Live Streams I've attended, it seems that those are the preferred replacement.
I have ability to pick this exact guitar up used locally for a great deal.you may have sealed the deal for me now with your great review, after you said shes a keeper.i think i made my mind up also...thanks again...any chance you can tell me what locking tuners you installed? Ill probably want to change them also
I just tried one of these today. I passed because there was a noticeable drop in volume between humbucker and single coil. I was really looking forward to getting one. My 2016 CE 24 doesn’t drop that much in volume. I think I’ll save my pennies and get a core Paul’s Guitar.
That's normal, there is always a slight drop in volume. I have just purchased a zebrawood SE Custom 24 and there is a slight drop but its just like any other split coil.
Awesome guitar!! I just got an SE as well! But I have a question as I'm just a beginner, what chord is that that you're playing when you first get into the clean section at 4:06?
Hi, 🙂🎸 Great report. I play this dream guitar along with a few others. And yes, it is fantastic.. Thanks 🎸🙂 greetings from Germany and the Cute Urchins
So finally we get to see it - A great looking SE PRS!!
These certainly sound and play incredibly well - not surprised you like it!
Haha thanks!! Yeah it took awhile to get the video done. I was having some weird artifact issues with my interface, and it was delaying things. All fixed now!
Oh man. I played one of those a few weeks back and was very tempted to make it my first PRS. It sounds awesome! Looks good too!
Thanks for watching!! Lots of PRS SEs on Reverb, too!
Go get the PRS, chixen guits. You will be soooo much happier :).

@@GearGasms That's cool!! I had no idea! Round trip incoming...
@@GearGasms hahaha someday... someday....let's wait a few years for my husband to forget about the SGs price tag 😉
This review is what I was looking for. I’ll be picking one up next week!
Awesome!! Enjoy it!!

LOL, yep! It's a very thin cap. 2mm at most. Thanks for watching, brother!
Sweet looking guitar. You make it sound really good. How's the LP build coming along. Congratulations on the 250 plus subscribers!

Great review. That guitar sounds and looks really good.
Thank you kindly, sir!!
Thanks for the advice and demo!
Anytime, brother!!

I noticed the same in single coil mode, but won't ever really use it for that as I have a Strat and Tele for those sounds. Thanks for watching!

Sweet tone OG! Kool PRS buddy. Xheers likd 11
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for demo which locking tuner machine did you replace with that? I have same guitar it will be the great help if you gave me idea about this.
Omg, this is beautiful. Is it the vintage sunburst?
Sounds great!
Thanks, man!!

Hey! Thanks for watching!! I *think* it's a minor diminished chord. I am self taught and don't know much theory. My apologies.
