Had to help out one of my family this weekend who has one of these could not find the manual, so this was a great help to get it up and running, thanks a lot.
I have just had a new boiler and hive i am 86 year's old and i found it very helpful not easy at first I still make mistakes when i want to make a change to the heating but if i can do it anyone can
Hi, ours doesn't work on schedule times. It works fine if I manually put the hot water and heating, but it doesn't work at all for the scheduled times I've put in. We have a conventional boiler, not a combination boiler also.
Great video. But I've bought one of the new ones without a dial. Want to schedule it without a hub. But can't find how to do so. The app requires a hub of some kind.
very informative video thank you. I care for a disabled lady and she has a hive I've got the gist of working it but when I turn the target temperature up and press the tick the actual temperature doesn't come up to match it. the actual temperature was sitting at 18 all day, any suggestions please. I had British Gas out as I thought it was faulty and they said it was fine!!!! help
Hello, its great you found it helpful. The problem could be to do with the heat source in the room is not reaching that temperature ie radiator output.
British gas installed this (just the control) today and we set the timer for 6am to 9pm. It's currently just after 10pm and the radiators are still piping hot. Is that normal? How long does it take for the heating to go off or is there a malfunction somewhere?
I know this video is a year old but hope you see this. Just moved into a house and theyve left their thermostat. It seems to ignore the temperature i choose and turn on the heating when it wants. So i wondered if its where im keeping the thermostat itself? Is it out of range maybe? Also i unplugged the hub as hive recommend and they say the thermostat SHOULD work alone but i wonder if thats why it keeps turning on. Theres currently no internet while we move in. No interest in the app really but feel i may need to buy the hub?
Hi Ronnie, If you are not going to use the hub you need to put it into (standalone mode), this is quite straight forward if you google it but in a nutshell.... Press the button on the receiver and hold it for 10 seconds until it goes white, it will then just work on the thermostat without the app , hope that helps.
How do I get rid of the Ready By function when I don’t have the app? All the forums give instructions with the app but I don’t have a hive hub or app. Thanks.
I spent HOURS looking, called HIVE (who were rather useless) and eventually figured it out. It completely baffles me that NONE of the YT videos or pages online I could find cover this clearly and comprehensively. Here it is: How to set the Hive Thermostat time when the setup is STANDALONE, i.e. when no hub is involved in the system. 1) Follow the "standalone" installation instructions from Hive (available in several pages, search "hive Activating stand-alone mode"). 2) the Thermostat will have a NEW feature under Settings which is "Date/Time". This feature is unavailable when the system is in "remote" mode as the idea is that the Thermostat gets its time from the internet, when in remote mode. The problem is that the system is SO BADLY ENGINEERED that you turn off the boiler or the router or the hub or the thermostat (e.g. to change batteries) and it takes HOURS and some times DAYS to recalibrate the time when in "remote" mode. And of course the time being correct is CRUCIAL to the entire concept of "scheduled" heating. How to set the Hive Thermostat time when the setup is REMOTE, i.e. when there is a hub involved in the system. THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THE TIME MANUALLY, as the Thermostat is designed to HIDE the Date Time feature of settings, as it's meant to fetch date-time from the internet. The only way I managed to fix the time in remote mode is: disconnect hub router off boiler off batteries off thermostat boiler on, wait 3 mins router on, wait 5 mins connect hub (usb power to router, plus ethernet cable to router) batteries in thermostat At this stage it may STILL show the wrong time but after a few hours it SHOULD recalibrate Hope this helps someone.

Yes you can , but if you have any problems you can put it into standalone mode anyway ( press the manual button on the receiver until it turns purpley/white )
No you cannot. If you do this you will never be able to have a proper time set in your Thermostat. I have hive in lounge and on landing but don't have a hub. Been like that since I bought property a year ago. Heating schedules work fine. However yesterday I noticed the time was 10 minutes slow on both hubs. I put the time forward 10 mins in the settings and confirmed. But when you go back to the main screen it puts the time back again. Where is the hive taking the time from?

Just moved into a new place with a HIVE , and of course no instructions were left. This is a great “How to” video. Thankyou.
Had to help out one of my family this weekend who has one of these could not find the manual, so this was a great help to get it up and running, thanks a lot.
I moved into a house with hive installed and I thought I had to be connected to wifi to use it. Your video explained it really well thank you.
Thank you. Moved into a house five days ago. I’ve been struggling with this, as no instruction manual. Let’s hope the hot water will come on now 🤞
Had mine a while. It's great. Never really bothered with the thermostat, just iPad app. I will now. Clear and useful. Thanks.
Glad it helped
This was very useful, having had my wall and app tools for some time. Thank you.

Best video on Internet for this thermostat
best Ive found to show a customer what it is.
Glad we could help
Your video was super informative and straight to the point - thank you:)
Great, thanks for the positive comment

Fantastic as a previous comment just moved and this has helped sooooooo much .

Excellent - thanks 🙏 Is the Actual temperature set automatically?

How can I set the timer to come on at day 2am (I work shifts), as currently the time won't move before 6.30am? I'm day three of having this installed.
Hi you need to move the previous days time back as its conflicting with the previous day if that makes sense
How do you set the time?
Excellent video, thank you.

Great explanation!
Can I take the thermostat off the wall.. Put it in another room and it'll keep the heating on until that room hits the set temp?
Hi, basically yes !
You can also get a stand if you didnt want it on the wall.
good presentation thank you
Thanks for the positive feedback :)
Just had this thermostat installed. The actual temp is not right. How to fix this please?
Can you please tell me how to reduce the default BOOST temperature from 22° to, say, 19° so that it is always set when BOOST is presed ?
Sooooooo useful! Thank you
What is the optimum target temp? I am used to old school 0 to 4, but with this is confusing
Is hot water boost button always on left hand side?
I am looking for a basic heating only mains powered stat with perm large display, any ideas?
Can you tell me how to edit the time please? Thanks
THANK YOU SO MUCH VERY USEFUL
Thanks for the positive feedback :)
So I only need the hub if I want to use the app? And it works OK without the hub?
yes thats corrrect but you have to put it into standalone mode
Anyone know how to change the name of the existing home owner? Moved to a house and their name comes up. They took the hub as advised by hive
You can set up your own account and use the app, you will need a hub
When I started hot water then start both and hot water is not coming well hot. So what I do?
My elderly F-i-L has just had a new boiler fitted and has a hive. He’s not daft but this is just too complicated.
How can I change the time please?
Hi Ian, hope you are sorted now but if you have the hub to connect it should do an update for you.
@@pro-tectheatingplumbingltd6192 Yes, thank you. All sorted :)

Hi what does the snow flake symbol mean on the schedule, does that mean the heating is off unless it hits 7 degrees please ?
It usually means ice or frost
How fella am just wondering how do you get the system out of schedule?
If you have the app you can change it manual via that.
My hive is coming up no signal . Don't no what to do.
Do you need to turn heating off to change battery
No
How do you change the time?
Did you find out how to do this? I am struggling with the same issue
The back button flashes on and off every few seconds....why?
Have you used the "lets fix it option" on the app? or call Hive customer services, they will be able to help you.

Hi Jackie, If that didnt work the best thing would be to give Hive support a call as it may need a reset on the account, let us know how you get on?
