Your video was great and real time examples. I have one and tested in various modes on test and have found at some times the accuracy is off, so I have revisited tested points and resent and found it ok, as near as the same time of day as possible. @@Jorditoms Hi Jordi, many, many thanks. I truly appreciate the invite and would love to discuss etc. I have limited experience with the SPOTGEN4 to date. I am due to fly from London to Portland 18th Feb for 2-3 weeks work, but plan to get out into the wild on weekends, Mt hood for example. Home for a week then I'm off to Taiwan for 2-3 weeks with more exciting potential treks!! Of course with the SPOTGEN4 as my close friend. I think, if I may say that early April I will have more quantitative & qualitative data and experience to offer up by then. Thanks again :)

The product listing I found for this was misleading and mentioned nothing about the subscription and activation fee. Customer service was awful and I will be returning the product and telling everyone I can about how little this company cares about customers.

I guess I don't get it - why did you title your information vid 'Wait Don't Purchase'?? Then go on to explain all of its features and benefits. Typical misleading title for clicks?

Hello, of course, I'm happy to respond. Let me begin by saying that before you make any purchase, I strongly advise watching the video. There are many details you need to be aware of before deciding whether you want to buy it or not. After explaining everything, I conclude by recommending it. For example, if what you're looking for is a system that allows you to send bilateral messages, then this device is not for you because it's not what it does. That's why I try to explain what it does thoroughly, and only after you've understood everything it does, should you consider making the purchase.
SpotX does do two-way texting thru satellite. The standard Spot does not, except for the three pre-coded messages. It has been basically the same product for the past twenty years or so, the leader in this segment.
For tracking and SOS it's the least cost option out there. A better title would be, "Before you purchase know the limitations", or "Spot Gen4 and How We Use It"
We get it. Not everyone needs an actual communication device - some just need tracking and SOS.

I also need a GPS mapping device - it's looking like a Garmin Edge 830, or maybe I could get by just downloading Traiforks maps to iPhone.
My treks off grid are on a eMTB - mountain bike.
