    Haven't done this on my truck yet, but I have the parts sitting in my office (waiting until it's warmer here in Michigan). I've seen other videos where people rubber band a rag over the exhaust front pipe that's just sitting there waiting to swallow a bolt or socket.

    Damn, yea I’m surprised the lower blew too.. wonder why they all say to go with lb7 up pipe and have no issues?
    Cause that’s the boat I’m in.
    Actually today I tried to start soaking bolts and stuff. But turned into a nightmare trying to just get the top shield out. (It’s still there currently lol)
    And also finagle the down pipe out.
    But I was trying to do it with the shield on it!

      Ya that heatsheild just needs to be cut out lol with a few choice words 🤣

      I can honestly not answer why they suggest the lb7 one. Over just going with an aftermarket one. I can only guess it’s maybe made out of higher quality steel. I went with ppe can’t go wrong with there products

    Did you have to use any heat at all in any of the up-pipe bolts? I’m in the middle of doing mine and 2 already snapped off (the bottom bolts on the manifold). I’m dreading to see how the bolts will come out of the back of the turbo pedestal…..

    • @DIYDiesel
      @DIYDiesel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not actually. So I did 3 days of soaking them Twice a day in Kroil 👍 with there penetrant you don it need to use heat. It won’t hurt to do the same process before you tackle those ones. If you snap those off that turbo is coming out. Which no one wants to do. Good luck 👍

    Any noticable difference after install. Especially with that leak.

      100% the exhaust smell is no longer in the cab, and it noticeably improved spool up. Far as boost & egts I’m not sure I do not monitor those yet.

      Cool thank you. Instead of doing my exhaust pipe. Think ima start with manifold to cat for now. I feel like im not getting full potential even with efi live with dsp5. Might have a bellow crack. I smell exhaust every now and then inside the cab.

    Wisconsin Lbz? What county? I have an 06 Lbz and I want to know if I have emissions and smog testing to do or if that started after Lbz motor. Thanks!

    • @DIYDiesel

      Yes 👍 Waupaca county it’s 2007 and newer. I can honestly say I don’t know a single person that has had to ever get that done lol it’s fit gas, and diesels.

      @@DIYDiesel Just took them all out yesterday, no cracks, by myself with 1/2 ratchet and a 20 inch pipe that fit snug. I Sprayed them for three days, twice a day with WD-40 PENATRANT with no mercy, made sure actually spray each bolt. On the 3rd day, i bought a small 5$ torch lighter form the liquor store and hit each individual bolt on the turbo pedastal after i had sprayed them with the WD-40, i did that Cycle 3 times that day. It seemed very effective in penetrating and loosening the actual threads. I wasn't too worried about the 3 on the manifold because you could spray the bolts from the back of the threads throught the holes in the back but i hit them with the torch once or twice anyway before i also gently but firmly loosened them with the breaker. This goes for everyone worried about snapping a bolt, the lube and torch cycle method is very effective 👌
