Thanks for the video. I have a Nordictrack Exp14i and the incline always gets off calibration every time it goes to its minimum incline of -3. When its set to -3 it will go all the way down to -3 and then will be off by 3 degrees in its calibration (0 becomes -3, 6 is 3, etc.) It will fix when I run the recalibration. But it will then get off calibration then next time the incline goes to -3. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Sounds like it might need a new incline sensor which is located on the incline motor itself. Pretty easy to replace. Just follow the smaller wires on the incline motor and you will see a sensor that sits inside the metal frame of the incline motor and just slides out to replace
Hi great video. I have a Nordic track 1750 the incline got stuck at the top it seems as though the rod that lifts snapped from the motor itself. How would I go about fixing that if they still make parts for it? Thanks in advance for your help in diagnosing
The easiest way to replace the incline motor is to put the deck in the raised position and then lay the treadmill sideways on the ground. This allows easy access to all bolts but also takes the load off the motor which makes it easier to swap out
Hello 👋 I have a Nordictrack T 6.5s, just recently purchased. When I picked up from the seller the unit was working perfectly. The speed +- and incline +- had no issues. Once I moved it over to my home and set it up, the incline was no longer functioning. Speed is fine, belt is running. But the incline is no longer working. I thought maybe it might need a collaboration, that didn’t work. I removed the cover and inspected for any damaged, pinched or loose connections. No issues there. But, I noticed when I tried to use the incline the LED lit up, the fan almost seemed like it wanted to start but couldn’t. And a humming sound from the incline motor for a couple seconds then nothing. Almost as if it’s not receiving enough power. And at times there’s no movement or sound at all when I attempt to use the incline. So, I’m unsure what the issue might be. It was just working before I transferred it over. 🥹 Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. :)
Have you checked the bolt at the top of the incline motor housing? Sometimes it locks up on itself and tightens too much that it stops the incline motor from moving
I got a Proform xp 550s from a friend. The incline wasn't working so I ran the calibration, it went all the way up then all the way down then back mid way. It does this every time now when I connect the stop key and it wont move or make a sound while in operation mode but still calibrates everytime i turn it on. What am i missing?
Excellent video although my machine is doing some other weird behaviour related to incline/decline. Once inclined the unit is very wobbly so it feels like it's partially detached from the uprights so I'm trying to work up the guts to take the top cover off to see if I can spot the issue. I found a nut and bolt fallen on the floor behind the unit so I am confident that once I find where that goes, that it should make the machine stable again.
That sounds like the incline pivot bracket. If you put the deck in the folded position making sure it’s locked in pace you will see a bracket on either side underneath the motor area, I would say the nut and bolt has come out from one of those sides which is making it uneven and noisy. Very easy to fix, just line up the brackets and pop the bolt back in.
@FitnessEquipmentHowTo Wow, thanks for the reply and super fast too. Most channels don't even reply at all let alone so quickly. I've had the machine on its side and had a good look underneath with a torch but with most of it covered by plastic trays I can't see anything missing from the underside so if I follow your suggestion correctly then I need to remove the top cover, so I have eyes on the motor etc and I may see the culprit? Have I got that right?
Depending on what machine it is you should see the brackets underneath the treadmill, most of them you won’t need to remove the plastic. They are the 2 brackets attached to the crossbar on the base of the machine where there is usually a serial number sticker. It’s hard to explain but as soon as you see it you’ll know exactly where it is
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo Update: I was able to repair it! It was as you described....the upright frame and the motor cover/incline section were detached from one another. Great video. I have a Nordic track audiostrider eliptical. Its incline motor runs for too long and wound the elevator bolt right out the bottom. It is not broken, but it doesn’t seem to know what degrees it is sitting at. Do you have a video for that?

Very good video. I have a Nordictrack 14.9 elliptical. The elevation screw turned to the max and jammed. Took gearbox loose and freed it up. How does it know the position. I see the contacts for it to see rotation. Does it need to be halfway through the stroke to calibrate? Thanks
It needs to go to its limits on up and down to know where it is. If the incline motor can’t or won’t calibrate it’s likely the sensor on the side or a wiring issue.
Great video mate! I have a Proform Pro 9000. Its stuck in the high incline. I have swapped the red and black wires which brought the incline to level 0. Would you agree its one of the incline relays? Having said that, would you happen to know where to purchase the relays and what the part number is? Thanks in advance!
Definitely sounds like the relay is faulty. Unfortunately don’t know the part number as I haven’t tried to source a relay for these, we just swap the controller out for a new one.

If it’s the console buttons that aren’t working you could try and do an incline calibration, this will force the incline down. If this doesn’t work you might need to call a tech to look at it
Great video. My problem is I hear the click, the fan tries to spin and can’t. Trying to turn the fan manually and it is VERY stiff, I can’t even turn it with my finger. After a few seconds it gives up. Any ideas?
The fan should spin fairly freely. Make sure there is no obstructions or the incline bolts aren’t too tight stopping the incline motor from moving. It could also be the capacitor on the incline motor that’s faulty. The motors themselves don’t fail too often but it’s not unheard of. Depending on your skillset and how much you want to delve into it, you can also detach the motor completely from all bolts, if it works when not under load you know it’s something to do with the attachment. If it doesn’t work then you can always check to make sure there is 110v to it, but if it’s making noise you can assume there is power there.
I have a NordicTrack X9i incline trainer. When starting up, it will do its initial initiation and decline the treadmill but then will not reverse directions and incline. Any suggestions?

It might be worth checking the wiring all the way to the console to make sure it’s connected correctly. You can also check the nut and bolt on the top of the incline mounting bracket to make sure it’s not too tight and stopping the incline motor from moving

It may do, however the board may be damaged in other areas as well. You can try replacing the capacitor but there’s no guarantee it will fix the fault.
I followed your advice and have come to the conclusion that I need a new incline motor. The sticker ID on it has this # KK24V104023 Does this number mean anything to you? FYI, when I went to calibrate, the calibration failed. You could see a yellow light on the control board light up, when I tried to incline and a humming, but no incline movement. The fan blades on the shaft of the incline motor turned (or bumped) just a little and stopped. What do you think?

Hi! I have a treadmill, a xtfm 1825, which is so old that nobody seems to have heard of it! It works perfectly well but the incline, I set it to 25% (the max.) and it's only 7% in reality... the manual is lost to time! How could I calibrate the incline? Is there a hack? TIA! Great content by the way!
Really sorry won’t be able to help you with that one. This has to do with limit switches inside the motor. The only thing you can try is tipping the treadmill on its side and unbolting one end of the incline motor and letting it go all the way up and then all the way down. Do this a couple of times and reattach it when it’s back to its lowest points. This may reset it to its lowest point and get it back on track. It’s not a guaranteed solution but it’s what I would try if I was onsite.
I’ve a Proform 565 Crosstrainer. Other day I plugged in and placed the magnetic key, then machine inclined all way to top and just stopped. Now it does nothing except makes a noise like it’s going to operate but doesn’t. Issue??
Sounds like the incline motor may be jammed. Check the mounting bolts to make sure they aren’t too tight. If they are ok it’s going to be either the incline motor burnt out or the controller not working correctly
I have C850S Nordictrack 2.75 CHP, and my incline on goes to 5 or 6. I the calibration, but I cannot figure it out, I don't have any settings menu or button on panel. Please help.
My incline is all the way down and when I choose one of the incline buttons, it tries to turn in the wrong direction but since it's already down, it can't move. It attempts three times to move in the wrong direction as I can see the motor jerking in the wrong direction but of course, can't go any further down and then shuts off. I tried the incline calibrate and as soon as I hit the calibrate button, I get a message on the screen saying calibration failed and I again see the motor attempt to turn in the wrong direction. Can you advise what the problem in this case might be? A Nordictrack C990.
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo I purchased the treadmill used but looking at the parts under the hood, it doesn't appear anything was ever replaced. All cable ties look original. When I purchased it, the incline was already non-functioning and the previous owner just left it that way. I want to get it working again.
I've just bought used treadmill performance 600i. Incline motor is working but does not responding to buttons in panel. Panel shows changed settings but nothing is happening however if I switch reset button next to power socket on treadmill the motor moves just a little bit up and little bit dow right after and thats all.
Question. Does the motor have som sort of position sensor? I would imagine it does as how during calibration, system knows position. I have theory as I just have undone screw from bottom attachment and wind it down to lower track to bottom. Now once all was back together I ve noticed that when set it to incline let say 3% it goes through all the settings and when it gets to point where it shows incline position again it flashes screen, motor do some sort of reset (up and down) and shows position 0.
@gumis56tfcx yes there is a sensor on the bottom of the incline motor. You can find it by following the smaller wires. This can go faulty but very rare
I have Nordi Trac 3700 it looks the same as yours. My unit was raising and lower the incline it seemed by itself but now does not inclind at all. There is no sort of sound at all coming from the control board. On the main control display it makes the normal beeping sound and the numbers of change for the different levels of incline so, I believe the main display.control up top is functioning. I believe the control board is bad. Again, there is no sounds emitting from the control board at all. The main motor and belt of the unit runs, but no incline function at all.
I havent took the cover off but i cant anything at all. When i put incline up or down. Its stuck on the highest incline. If i undo the bolts will the incline go to zero and i just cant use incline but treadmill still works
My treadmill was given to me. When I turned it on and started walking I inclined it. It now will not go back down and attempts to fire the fan sometimes. But sometimes it just beeps twice at me. I have tried loosening the bolt and nut on top and bottom of the incline motor screw. But I’m worried about not being able to get something back together.
I have a NORDICTRACK T6.5s. The issue mine is having is it is stuck in incline and will not go down. I have tried recalibrating it and when you select the down you hear a click, the fan tries to move but can’t then a third light comes on the circuit board. I have even tried replacing the sensor thinking that was the issue. Any thoughts would be great. My wife had back surgery and I am trying to get this fixed so she can walk on it now that it’s winter time.
If you’ve tried everything in the video then unfortunately it’s too difficult to diagnose without looking at it, might be worth getting a technician to have a look
I have the proform 755 CS and the incline doesn't work, it is stuck in an up position. I just want to free the incline so I can fold up the treadmill. How do I do this?
The treadmill stops at roughly +3, but shows on the screen as -3. When anything is pushed to change the incline, it goes one direction a short distance, then reverses back to the original +3 position. I followed your instructions to calibrate the incline, but after a few minutes it shows a notice on the screen that the calibration failed. There were no sounds or movement while it tried to recalibrate.
Sounds like the incline sensor may be faulty. It’s a small sensor that sits inside the housing on the motor. You can find it by following the smaller group of wires down the side the incline motor. Might be worth checking the wiring from the sensor to the controller as well.
Incline System Calibration occurs too often, about every 7th time I turn it on. I don't use my incline feature. This is annoying. How can it calibrate less often or not at all?
My Proform tradmill has issue with sensing incline angle. Whenever I Im using it. It shows on display 12 even even if I increase incline just from 0 to 2. In reality it would not increase incline at all when im running. It only runs motor for short moment and then it will stop early. Callibration works fine only when there is no weight on it.
@FitnessEquipmentHowTo Both are good I have inspected them The issue is that when it starts, it works for a second, then stops with a lot of burning smell I inspected the motor separately, and it is just working properly
I don’t have a settings screen/mode. I tried pushing 2 buttons at once on my Proform 835, but nothing happened. It is stuck in full incline(10) and won’t move.
That is the same as mine. Red light on all the time, I hear the click from the board and the fan comes on but nothing happens. I have loosened the bolt and tried to calibrate but still nothing happening. Did you manage to resolve?
I got a different kind of problem: the incline works when I am not stepped on the deck/side foot held. But as soon as I put my weight on, the incline stops and gets stuck, and the only way to get unstuck is to lift the deck by hands a little. My body weight is normal 180 lbs. 😂

Does the incline motor make any noise or have any attempt at moving when you press the incline buttons or is it just dead?
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo Thanks. I'll try it!
Hi
Treadmill dk 19 switches on for 3 seconds then blows the circuit breaker. Error code JF? Any idea what it could be
Sounds like a bad motor, most likely the control board is fried too.
Have any parts been changed in the machine recently?
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo I purchased the treadmill used but looking at the parts under the hood, it doesn't appear anything was ever replaced. All cable ties look original. When I purchased it, the incline was already non-functioning and the previous owner just left it that way. I want to get it working again.
I've just bought used treadmill performance 600i. Incline motor is working but does not responding to buttons in panel. Panel shows changed settings but nothing is happening however if I switch reset button next to power socket on treadmill the motor moves just a little bit up and little bit dow right after and thats all.
Have you tried to calibrate the incline?
@FitnessEquipmentHowTo yes, i did as per manual. It's not responding to this at all. Done it several times now but can try again
I would start by checking all the wiring and connections. Check all connections from the top console down to the control board.
mine has no green led on the control circuit board. @@FitnessEquipmentHowTo
Have a hand me down Pro-form 495pi
Won’t incline below 2.0
Recalibrated and still won’t go below 2.0. Inclines fine 2.0-10
Any ideas?
Sounds like it’s getting stuck somewhere. Make sure the incline bolt isn’t too tight and there are no obstructions
My proform is always showing incline as 12% but is actually in 0. And when i try to change it is sound just a click and nothing is moving
Same issue
Just bought a brand new one was calebrating it inclined but now won’t go down help!
First thing to do is check all your wiring to make sure everything is connected correctly,
I did the fan is not moving
If it’s brand new I would contact manufacturer and get a tech to look at it
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo I did. They weren’t open on the weekends. Hope they call me tomorrow
Quality video, nut and bolt too tight and a re-calibration later and it’s working again!
That’s excellent 👌
My Proform tradmill has issue with sensing incline angle. Whenever I Im using it. It shows on display 12 even even if I increase incline just from 0 to 2. In reality it would not increase incline at all when im running. It only runs motor for short moment and then it will stop early. Callibration works fine only when there is no weight on it.
There is a smell of smoke coming from there
I checked the motor, is ok
What would that be?
Possibly the motor drive belt is loose or the walking belt needs lubricating or replacing
@FitnessEquipmentHowTo
Both are good
I have inspected them
The issue is that when it starts, it works for a second, then stops with a lot of burning smell
I inspected the motor separately, and it is just working properly
How did you check the motor, did you apply power to it?
I don’t have a settings screen/mode. I tried pushing 2 buttons at once on my Proform 835, but nothing happened. It is stuck in full incline(10) and won’t move.
Check the bolt to make sure it’s not too tight and locked up, if that’s ok it may be the controller
When I look at the control panel on mine the red light is on but not the green light. Any suggestions?
That is the same as mine. Red light on all the time, I hear the click from the board and the fan comes on but nothing happens. I have loosened the bolt and tried to calibrate but still nothing happening. Did you manage to resolve?
Nope 😢 and my dad is an electrician and couldn’t fix it. I had to replace it
Thanks mate!
You're welcome!
Mine clicks when I hit the incline, but it's inclined all the way, but won't decline, and no click.
If an incline calibration doesn’t work I’d say you need a new controller
@FitnessEquipmentHowTo mine is really old, and the motor is under the control board. I just want it declided, doesn't need to go up and down.
Thank You!
Hope it helped 🙂
I got a different kind of problem: the incline works when I am not stepped on the deck/side foot held. But as soon as I put my weight on, the incline stops and gets stuck, and the only way to get unstuck is to lift the deck by hands a little.
My body weight is normal 180 lbs. 😂
Calibration failed.... many times. Now what?
If you’ve tried all the suggestions in the video it might be worth getting a technician to look at it
