This was truly satisfying beyond words to watch. I also appreciate that you kept the paint chips how they were I actually think that's pretty cool as I think it adds character to the guitar. It wouldn't have had the same soul if you had repainted it. Also, excellent playing at the end!! Thank you for breathing life back into this guitar! 🙏 ♡♡♡
Happy to see that the electronics cavity was not as horrible as the pickguard surface
Not the Sushi, Not the Katana, Not Even Dragon Ball. The most amazing product that comes from Japan its an Early 90's Ibanez RG. Period.
Great Video. Omedetou!
Ibanez RG550 is a bloody great guitar. I used to have one many years ago and now I miss it 😎
Why people get rid of guitars they love is insane to me….I have a black RG from Japan that’ll be with me until I pass…same with my other guitars….once it’s gone, it’s gone.
@@mr.smithgnrsmith7808 Believe me - it happened to most guitarists. You get rid of something and you sorely regret it later. After the Ibanez I got a 1993 Patrick Eggle LA 22 Pro. I still have that one. Cheers
I got one of the pink ones. It was actually the first guitar I got as a kid. I learnt how to play on that thing and I still have it.
It was an RG570 for me (the one without the pickguard).
As luck would have it, came across an RG655 a couple of years ago (basically an RG550 but with upgraded DiMarzio pickups and an All-Access Neck Joint). Jumped on that and I've been a happy camper ever since.
I had one of those, and while I liked the sound of the guitar, I asbolutely hated the Floyd Rose bridge. I exchanged it for an Yamaha AES620 that I play it to this day.
One of my favorite hobbies. You did a really nice job cleaning this thing up and mad props for keeping the original paintjob! Thing is still totally original and with all that garbage removed and it cleaned up you increased the value quite a bit. I absolutely LOATHE stickers on guitars. Nice job man!
I still have my late 1980s white RG550 in mint condition - it's a wonderful guitar. To see this poor abused example being brought back to life was wonderful. Well done!
That'd have to be worth quite a lot now, have you seen any of the same model selling recently? Most old school metal players would love to pick up the Japanese 550.
Me too, just got it back from the luthier who fixed the construnction mistakes. It's beautiful and plays like a charm now again!
Great advert for Ibanez! So complicated!
Great work. Excellent videography and editing as well-thank you for keeping it simple and for retaining the workshop sounds.
The fact you give thought to each step and process not to mention your patience is exactly the opposite as to how I courted my first wife. After two years it was clear she was クレイジー. I restore a few instruments and I have learned much from you. Thank you.
Amazing restoration and attention to detail!
Beautiful work, you gave her a new lease on life!
Thank you for sharing!
That was satisfying, watching this with a nice cup of tea, well done sir.
That guitar is worth twice its worth, the parts even more. Those were the nicest Ibanez models made, next to the Jems and USA customs.
"is worth twice its worth" - this doesn't even sound right
This is a made in Japan model, not a made in South Korea model. It should be worth about $1000.00.
@@hollyc5417 Actually, for that price, you won't even buy an rg 350. If you look on ebay or reverb you won't find that many of them, and the price is around 600-700. I got a '94 model in november, for 500 bucks, and it wasn't even in great conditions. This, at least, is the situation of the european market. Maybe you can get one for that price in Japan, but you'll have to be very, very lucky.
@@hollyc5417 You're fuckin' high. Show me a Fuji factory RG 550 in the condition it was in after he cleaned it up for $250. You have no clue what you are talking about.
Play a Precision!
Forgot to say, it’s a big dreadnought truly a beautiful guitar, one of my favorites👍🏼🎸🎸 I totally love, guitars and love playing them. After 49 years of playing guitar, I’m still learning new things. I don’t think anyone will ever conquer it completely. It’s like outer space in music and never ends. Always something new to learn.👍🏼👍🏼🎸😁🎸😄❤️
Japanese guitar are beautiful and very carefully crafted. I love them. Great job on giving new life to this beautiful guitar
I was close to calling BS.. I thought the paint was completely cracked all over the body. You're not wrong about it being covered in adhesive! Great job :)

I must compliment the use of pressurised air for removing dirt and dust. Well done! I would never have thought of that
what a lovely looking japanese RG it turned out to be, great job!
Fantastic restoration, brother! So glad you left the original paint: much better like this! She looks amazing; if she could talk, she would says that she loves you!
Thank you. I will do my best for the next restoration!!
good cleanup, and glad you left in all the chips, bumps, and scratches....that's all gig history, man!
thank you for saving its life! those old RGs live forever!
Nice take apart and put back together, the gloves were a nice touch.
ASMR at it’s best. This was extremely satisfying. I could watch these all day. Please share more.
🇨🇦
RG550s are my favorite to work on. I've restored about a dozen with full refinishes. These were the shredders of my high school years.
Nice job my friend. You made it without replacing even a screw, so nice. 90's era ibanez guitars are the best ones.
Great work!!! I have that same guitar stored since 1990’s and I will give it some love after viewing this! Thanks for sharing!
Very beautiful guitar! Thank you for the video.
Another Great Restoration
Really like your playing style, great restoration
That is some seriously amazing work done on an amazing guitar! Perfect video!
Utsukushii! Great, sensitive restoration of a classic guitar! I love that you didn't respray the chipped paint, but might be good to drop in some 2K clearcoat to stop moisture getting under the remaining paint.
Amazing work, as always
My first “real” guitar was a 1989 Ibanez RG 550. I lived in England and ordered from Sam Ash in NYC . This was before the internet. I waited 3 months for it to arrive and it was the most beautiful thing that I had ever owned at that point. Your beautiful treatment reminded me of when I opened the case for first time. That makes for the trip.
Bro you're like the relaxing end but if he fixed up guitars, this is perfect
Vanishing love
it's just amazing, the quantity of stickered over or painted over cheap guitars you come across
So satisfying. the ibanez 550 guitar and the restoring process. ibanez rg is still my dream guitar,
I enjoyed seeing this Japanese Ibanez getting some love and again being enjoyed.
Those old 80s RG series are insanely good players.
Great work on the cleanup.
This is my living! Excellently well done!
Amazing job! Loved all the process. Thanks for sharing :).
Thank you very much.
why did i paint my black ESP Mirage 2 25ears ago ? aaaaaah, how can one be so stupid. One day i will try to remove this crappy paint, a nasty job...
Another beautiful job! Looks like an Ibanez RG series which I used to have 30 years ago.
That was a fun watch. Great job!
80’s RGs are legendary! Wish I still had mine, the ultimate shredding machine.
great job and great guitar.
Beautiful job
Very good work. It looks amazing.
Beautiful job.
Excellent job!
Very nice Job! It looks great!🤘
such a beautiful guitar and a rare too !!!!!! proper Japanese made one too !!!!! well-done for the restoration
Nice RG550. It deserves a proper setup with intonation now. Those were great instruments.
As a person who designs and builds guitars, one of my main goals is to produce a design as attractive and iconic as this.
Do the guitar world a favor... don't design another variation of the stratocaster.. be original. Strats have been copied to death
Are you any good?
@@PiotrthePhrog I love the builds I've completed. I'm working on a few new ones simultaneously atm too channel has some videos of my work. I'm poor at making video though, so there is no production value. The guitars are currently handmade, minus a scroll saw, handheld router and a hand drill.
@@PiotrthePhrog probably sold as many albums, won as many grammies and sold out as many coliseums as you
@@peachmelba1000 Cool! I'll check you out!
Beautiful RG
I did a restoration recently on a 87' RG 550 and that's my number 1. Good work bro enjoy it!
This is one of the few guitars I’ve never seen the inside of, I’m impressed with the thoughtful design of them. Nice job getting her fixed up👍
This is a Japanese copy of a Fender Stratocaster.
@@bobbyb1607 While the basic layout is clearly Fender influenced, I think you are selling the Japanese short. It is at the very least a refinement of the Fender concept.
I have an Ibanez RG560 in white with a maple neck. Very good job!
Great job and your playing is really good... Next up!! Restoring a Mesa Boogie 4x12 cabinet!
Amazing work
That thing is RAD! What a super cool guitar.
Thank you!
Wow! Nice job!
Excelente trabajo. Una guitarra preciosaaaa🥰🥰
Nice work.
beautiful
great job man!
Amazing job) Looks 🔥🔥🔥
Good job, excelente trabajo
Very nice work!
Nicely done
Great transformation!! I have two '91 Ibanez guitars (RG565 and RG 570) - great guitars!
Nothing better than an old crusty rg
Ibanez always did make cool, looking guitars. I have one of their old acoustics. It has gold machine, hands and ivy on their neck. It’s looks super cool.
Kewl
Very nice by the way.
Wow!! never been bothered for ibanez I'd definitely have one after watching this 👍
i could binge watch these like a netflix show. fantastic video dude
Beautiful guitar…cream with the black guard, maple board, etc…
You were smart not to modify it, or refinish it. Very nice.
The RG 550 is a great guitar. I have a 1987 RG 550 black with a rosewood fretboard made in Japan at the FujiGen Factory. Great guitar.🤟
Great job. 👍
550's are always absolute beasts
I had a beautiful silver metallic RG 550 I bought in the late 90's and of all the gear I have bought and sold, that is the one that haunts me to have gotten rid of.
I hear ya on selling the Ibanez RG550, I pd 600, for a white one in 1987, I shouldn't have sold it
The quality of old Japan made Rg's amazes me . They are trully shred machines .
I love RGs from a distance, I just can't get on with the thin necks, but I think they are great guitars. I had a 560, it didn't sound right for the Strat sounds (24 frets) and the trem made it too wobbly for serious rhythm playing, but i really wanted to love that guitar. However for the whammy tricks it was king!
Great work I did the same model in 2021.
Just found this channel and I already know I'm going to love it. I need a Fernandes/Burny Hide Heart Yellow to wrench on. One day I'll get one over to the states
Awesome video!!! I have the same guitar my rg 550 is a 1987
Amazing how there are no major chips or dings if any everything comes out almost perfect on all these guitars that are supposedly found like that just making a observation
no, it's impossible you find so many bad used guitars, there is a trick I don't see, never seen so much devastation, and I ve played guitar for 40 years in pubs, concerts...
Grande! Me alegra mucho esta buena voluntad. Saludos 🎸💫
Have a japanese made jem from 07. Tje quality of that neck is unreal. The job done on the fretwork was a thing of beuty. Also have a Japanese made iceman from 1978..its an ic100 so its the cheaper bolt on neck version but again the quality of the guitar is just awesome. They surely know how to build em in Japan amd these old RG's are as legit as they come
I can see why Paul Gilbert likes to play the old vintage Ibanezes.
