    The first thing that came to mind when I saw it was : " Oh my God..."
    Fabulous restoration work...
    I myself have been a professional guitar tech and builder for 36 years so I can appreciate great work when I see it...

    i admire the effort you put into restoring these guitars. i like the asmr aspect of it too. im not a fan of cleaning/restoring old, beaten, used guitars just so they can look normal and look like the rest of the guitars youll find on a music store. obviously theyre player guitars, modified to look unique for the audience. these guitars have history, mojo and stories to tell.

    I have watched a lot of your videos and I just have to say that I am conflicted. Certainly you do a nice job of restoring the guitars to new or better than new condition--you do great work so don't get me wrong. I just wonder if some of the guitars that you "rescue" aren't better in terms of artistic expression before you fix them? Maybe the mods aren't perfect but many that I have seen are pretty righteous as art. Restoring them to original condition just makes them equal to hundreds or thousands of other instruments. If that is the goal then you could just start with a neglected ordinary guitar and make them play well. Many of the guitars that I have seen were better "before" than "after" in my opinion and I would like to see more personalized guitars. Again, no offense to you and your work or your channel, I just have questions.

    Personally would have cleared over the original un original paint followed by a restoration of the hardware with only the clean up that would have been required I.E. getting the paint off the tuners, cleaning the fretboard and making sure it's straight and redoing the electronics to make sure they work. But I would have kept the rusted in look because I don't know where that guitar came from or from how long ago but it's had a life...

    This guitar had nice artwork. You should have just restored the hardware and preserved the original art. I wonder what you'd do to Eddy Van Halen's guitar?

  • @billybobjohn8955
    @billybobjohn8955 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes it looks much better than before that's for sure. However you had a filler, why didn't you fill all the dings and dongs, why did you leave the paint with an orange peel, why didn't you clearcoat it afterwards and where's the stepped wet sanding from 800 to 5000 grit? I mean if you go through the pain of disassembling a guitar, stripping its paint off, doing a good job on the neck might as well do the paintjob correctly too while you're at it even if it's loads of work and the guitar isn't worth it.
