Parry is just useless now especially how you can't cancel the animation early when they hold their arm up and stuff like that. I would of liked if it was just like parrying in rivals and smash where parrying gives you armor
I fully agree, putting a bandaid is not going to fix anything. I have tons of gripes with the game. I literally see the players everyday, spamming is encouraged, even on burn out it barely does anything, auto dodge is dog crap, carried characters. But I feel the game going to be joining Nickelodeon all stars brawl 2 at failing
I agree that they need to fix hitbox on the game, but i disagree them being the reason people are leaving, people are leaving because it's boring af playing vs a batman that keep running all day long and you can't approach him, of shaggy being able to kill you instantly after he dodge+jab, and i don't think a better parry would help in any way. I think shields are really great for this game, testing them in the testing grounds was a really fun experience, and with the game becoming faster it will help make way better experience
I agree PFG should've just buffed parry, MVS was clearly built around that mechanic to begin with, I guess all the Smash players shitting on the game must've really gotten to them, now they're trying to cater to the Smash community rather than establishing their own
This is why I hate this development team so much I literally could have went to a homeless shelter and got people to better acknowledge this games downsides it's so annoying how instead of doing things the people are asking them to do like fixing the hitboxes and increasing the game speed and making the controls more responsive they keep doing dumb crap like adding Shields, new characters that only exacerbate the problems the game already has and Nerfs. I honestly wish the worst for this game because this is the first time I feel like a development Studio actively went out of their way to make a promising product worse. All the characters are locked all the characters are harder to obtain than they were in the beta without spending money on top of all of the technical issues that weren't even an issue in the beta, all while they keep doing greedy crap like pushing passes to siphon money out of people they don't listen to. I honestly hope this dies, not just because these people don't deserve the attention they got, not just because Im tired of people supporting terrible live service slop, but this attention could be better suited towards Rivals of Aether which I have been playing and is so much more fun than this game and is made by a team that actually seems like they care about thier craft
sadly this game is suffering from toxic positivity, and ppl are defending the bad and the good, so the devs dont know whats rly good and whats rly bad, i cant believe that the hitboxes are still not fixed and the movement is still this slow with no real movement mechanic and the hit stun is still annoying, and now shields with no grab, and dont u guys tell me about the instant shield break cuz its not the same
I knew parrying was bad, but I didn’t know it was 3 frames bad. Like I get the whole “mash parry out of hitstun” was bad, but the parry lockout fixed that, so why is the window still only 3 frames? Also, something not mentioned about parry is that for a successful parry, a hitbox needs to contact your character’s hurtbox. This is an issue when the parry animation can cause massive hurtbox shifts leading to what should be a successful parry but isn’t because of this shift. Smash Ultimate does parry based on a bubble around your character the same as shielding, so it would be nice if MVS would do the same
@@hoagieland3716 what's crazy is on top of shifts certain attacks shifts opponents hurt boxes that don't match their animations. Also there's a aura outside of parry that forms too which makes you feel it should be extended slightly past 3 frames. Our game has so much wrong with it, I don't know how much more I can take. 😭😭
i don't play multiversus, but i heavily fw the idea of what you've got going on it's incredibly fair to critique a system for how it works and functions in comparison to other games with similar mechanics, because each of them work for those games and the systems they are built around, but the 3 frame parry for such little gain makes it such a hideous option that it's like a deck of exclusively 0's in KH:COM (If used after another card, it nullifies the incoming attack, but if used before it, it's nullified, given some enemy encounters can get hectic, it's just a bad move since you'll eventually get overwhelmed) or adding a 4th option in rock paper scissors, that only works if your opponent has used paper, and then rock- that is to say, if i knew that using paper and following up with rock set me up for a 50/50 chance of just losing, i'd just opt to go for the same one twice, especially in a best 2 out of 3 situation, because if i chance the parry and get punched in the face for it, or the parry works and the enemy can just escape the combo i put them in, why would i not just either try for frame advantage on an attack, or hopefully get out of the way? an odd comparison but RG in DMC3/4 feels like it's incredibly similar to what's going on in this game, except enemies have more predictable cues for their attacks and combo strings, if you wiff it, you just get your face beat in without much you can do about the situation in both cases, but with RG, there's enough room for you to learn and other mechanics and advantages that can help you get to a point where you want to use it because of the fact that RR/Royal Release basically allows you to have a free delete button when you're using it well, there's motivation for the player to want to actually use it in situations they know it's safe in because of the fact that successful uses build up a charge- it may not come in handy at that moment, but it's in your back pocket for when you need it- and it feels wrong to say this, especially considering i haven't actually played the game, but something like 3 successful parries giving you a "get out of jail free" card definitely sounds like it would be good on paper, but it's something i can see going wrong because if both players have them, it'll eventually just turn into baiting it out of the other player and then burning yours to put things back to neutral, which could be good, but at that point, it'll basically end up as the sort of mechanic that doesn't feel like it does anything, because if you decide to pop it while being hit with a combo string, and your opponent also just does the same thing a frame afterwards, nothing has really changed- and if it ends up on a timer, it might just end up at a point where things are being drawn out for too long, and if it goes away or starts to vanish when the player with the parries goes on the offense, then it's just punishing the person with those parries because of the fact that they lost the bonus because they started pushing back wack
People keep saying this and I can't see it. It's still not good, but it was definitely worse before. It had all the same issues just with less content and worse balance. Tbh the biggest issue is that they barely changed anything
@@HeckYep They removed certain customization options, made the game more grindy, made movement slower, and probably some other things that I'm forgetting because I stopped playing. I haven't played enough to be sure about this but samurai jack was pretty annoying (that one might be a skill issue)
Played 3 seasons and I’ve had to deny myself continuing the battlepass, because it left me feeling like the game is another job. I truly wish they can fix it. Buff parry back so there’s some more incentive to actually try and offensively block Parry lockout was fine. Now make parry window more than 3 frames!!!! We all have latency because it’s always-online. So no point in making it so difficult when hitboxes are so ridiculous
Same exact reason why I quit. I was going to play something I actually wanted to but was going to grind my dailies first out of obligation. I realized I was wasting my time and uninstalled.

the parry should behave and work like Dissidia duodecim parry, you just get locked and block projectiles back and reflect physical moves, the enemy flinches with you only have a small gap for quick jabs tops
Cool let's just add Ultimates too while we're at at it. Make sure you throw in Ultimates that auto kill you at 100 damage because those were just THE BEST.
I'm so sick of people being like "all this game needs is more characters and balancing." I do hope all this stuff is worked on, but i think shield being a thing is a good thing here. Shield and block mechanics are much more understood. i know NAKAT has been pushing for improving mechanics and putting shield in and hes the one person on that team that i would trust to actually do that right. Power Stone predates Smash brothers and by raw numbers as a spectator sport Brawlhalla is the most popular. And inspiration shouldn't always equate to equilibrium. MK1 Based off Street Fighter, Tekken based off Virtua fighter etc don't always have to have the same mechanics to be competitive. I was skeptical about not having shields too but beta proved that it can work and was giving examples of games that are played competitive that make it work. Adding shields in the game now will just make it a budget smash bros and by that point you have to ask yourself, why not just play smash, or rivals 2, both that arguably have an engine that does shielding so much better? Not having shields in Multiversus (aside from the 2v2 mechanics) is what made the game give it's uniqueness.

The main problem is that multiversus was made initially without shields in mind, so adding such an important mechanic late into the game's life is just dumb. I think shields should've been in the game to begin with, but in my opinion they can't just make their game without shields and then pivot to wanting it to be more like smash. If they wanted to do it so bad they shouldn't have tried so hard to be different from the beginning.

it's incredibly fair to critique a system for how it works and functions in comparison to other games with similar mechanics, because each of them work for those games and the systems they are built around, but the 3 frame parry for such little gain makes it such a hideous option that it's like a deck of exclusively 0's in KH:COM (If used after another card, it nullifies the incoming attack, but if used before it, it's nullified, given some enemy encounters can get hectic, it's just a bad move since you'll eventually get overwhelmed) or adding a 4th option in rock paper scissors, that only works if your opponent has used paper, and then rock-
that is to say, if i knew that using paper and following up with rock set me up for a 50/50 chance of just losing, i'd just opt to go for the same one twice, especially in a best 2 out of 3 situation, because if i chance the parry and get punched in the face for it, or the parry works and the enemy can just escape the combo i put them in, why would i not just either try for frame advantage on an attack, or hopefully get out of the way?
an odd comparison but RG in DMC3/4 feels like it's incredibly similar to what's going on in this game, except enemies have more predictable cues for their attacks and combo strings, if you wiff it, you just get your face beat in without much you can do about the situation in both cases, but with RG, there's enough room for you to learn and other mechanics and advantages that can help you get to a point where you want to use it because of the fact that RR/Royal Release basically allows you to have a free delete button when you're using it well, there's motivation for the player to want to actually use it in situations they know it's safe in because of the fact that successful uses build up a charge- it may not come in handy at that moment, but it's in your back pocket for when you need it- and it feels wrong to say this, especially considering i haven't actually played the game, but something like 3 successful parries giving you a "get out of jail free" card definitely sounds like it would be good on paper, but it's something i can see going wrong because if both players have them, it'll eventually just turn into baiting it out of the other player and then burning yours to put things back to neutral, which could be good, but at that point, it'll basically end up as the sort of mechanic that doesn't feel like it does anything, because if you decide to pop it while being hit with a combo string, and your opponent also just does the same thing a frame afterwards, nothing has really changed- and if it ends up on a timer, it might just end up at a point where things are being drawn out for too long, and if it goes away or starts to vanish when the player with the parries goes on the offense, then it's just punishing the person with those parries because of the fact that they lost the bonus because they started pushing back
