The American audience and American music industry don’t deserve Tayeon or her culture. I am an American that abandoned American music the minute I was introduced to Kpop because of the American vulgarity, overly sexual material, cocky attitude of artists, and insertion of politics in their music and on the stage. A lot of American songs are very good, but content and industry is crap. Keeping Kpop out of America is the best thing a Kpop can ever do.
I doubt SM is the only party who decided to cancel the stage. They aren't the best agency but they are also not stup!d enough to pass such opportunity for such small issues and Taeyeon is more than capable of performance live without the AR whatever. We can get Lil Nas, Dua Lipa, Silento, Charlie Puth and other artists to perform live on stage with these artists. So it wasn’t impossible. Management was just lazy. The root of this misunderstanding is mainly not understanding that the way U.S artists manage themselves and Korean Artists are managed are vastly different. Most artist in Korea don’t find out a change/decision until the last minute and have to roll with it. There are artists/idols who find out their groups got disbanded in the freaking news and not even their company informing them. I am certain this was SMs fault, making a decision and then not informing anyone of it

SM's management with collabs outside the company is a huge mess lmao no wonder why despite a lot of their artists being amazing vocalists, you dont really see them doing collabs with other ppl outside of the company, be it korean or international artists. i can only think of a few like baekhyun/suzy, wow thing (soyeon, seulgi, sinb and chungha), the nct/jason derulo collab and recently winter's collabs with bang yedam, liz and soyeon. they just seen to micromanage everything their artists do to the point they gotta fight a lot for any ounce of artistic/management freedom.

You will see Asian Male Kpop and Black female rappers together. But I think there is some kind of issue from the Korean companies of having Black Male rappers and Asian female Kpop artist together. So the excuse that a backing vocal couldn't be used falls flat.

SM's management with collabs outside the company is a huge mess lmao no wonder why despite a lot of their artists being amazing vocalists, you dont really see them doing collabs with other ppl outside of the company, be it korean or international artists. i can only think of a few like baekhyun/suzy, wow thing (soyeon, seulgi, sinb and chungha), the nct/jason derulo collab and recently winter's collabs with bang yedam, liz and soyeon. they just seen to micromanage everything their artists do to the point they gotta fight a lot for any ounce of artistic/management freedom.
I remember this and it was bizzare to me back then too. There was some miscommunication/misunderstanding between the two teams and WIZ not knowing how Kpop industry works, didn't help either. Not gonna lie plz dont take this the wrong way 😩but I look at Kpop music the way Kpop fans look at R&B and modern rap; it all sounds and looks the same to me from the music to the way they all dress. Yes fans need explaination to situation like these but they are handled by their agency or production and not by the artist itself. In other country especially america once u popular u be like a king and can afford be diva and demanding things. Its different in korea industry. Singer, actor, entertainer especially idols have very minimal control on anything especially when u new and female. U get news about attitide problem where siinger be late coming or actor come late or drunk at set in hollywood all the time but not in korea. If u late even if it wasnt your fault (coz most of these performer have company assign them a manager to manage n drive them around) u will have to do reflecting appology bow at back of stage and receive punishment. U can even risk being banned and cancel. It is why kpop been called slave industry. Idols especially will be treat like a workers especially when u new, staff can scold u and make your life hell. They dont own their self from diet, to relationship to schedule to clothes n outfit to wear, social media and depend how new you are a phone or contact to outsider/family member even the hair color n haircut need company approval.
