      Thank you Susan. We've still not yet had a chance to use it on site to see how easy the drive away option is, but we'll put up a wee video when we do and thanks for your kind comment.

      Hi Karen. We'd actually be pleased to know how you fix the channel, it's something we'd thought about. Honestly, we were supposed to be keeping Buddy more car than camper...don't think that's working 😆. We're also heading to Scotland in May. Shetland, Orkney and then? Have a great time 🙂🐕🚙

    Lynn here on Hubby's phone 😏, OMG !!! Do you live on the edge of the cliffs ?, When we used to put our caravan awning up I hated it and nine times out if ten it would be full of mud when we took it down and I'd end up putting in in the bath to wash it , what a night mare . Now we just use the caravan and it's only an old tourer but it's sited for now , were thinking of packing it in , but I'll miss it I've been caravaning since I was two weeks old and I'm now 57, so it's a long time with some lovely memories , especially with my dear Late Mum , bless her , my best friend too 🤗😢😢😭😭, you two take care xx

      @the-other-windsors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi again Lynn, yes we do live on cliffs and the winds can be pretty fercious during the winter. The roof of our beach cabin does bounce a little. We've managed 8 winters so far, so not scared us off yet! That's why we have our Buddy Berlingo. We've also always camped and we weren't ready to leave it behind.😊🐕🚙

      Hi Sue, nice to hear from you and we trust you're keeping well. We've Not used as yet on site, but should be just the ticket when we're staying more than one night, instead of the sun canopy. Great place to get those all too often wet things off before getting into the van. 😊

    Hi Tina, I hope you are all well. I have been rewatching your tips and tweaks, to get ideas. In your experience, have you found the canopy or awning to be more useful? What do you use the most? I am mulling them over and have come to no decision. Many thanks Hannah

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      HI Hannah. That's a very good question. One we've asked ourselves, too. Is it worth carrying the awning around with us for the time we would use it? It was good when we stayed on a site for a week's holiday with our family, but it hasn't been used since. The canopy, however, is used more frequently. We don't tend to put it out if offgrid, but on the odd site days, we use it all the time. Mostly for rain 🌧. Very useful bit of kit as it's not going to get in the way, being fixed to the roof. 🙂🐕🚙

      @@the-other-windsors Hi Tina, thank you for your response. That is really useful. I think we will use a tarp and string up a DIY awning and see how that goes and if we need something more.

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Christopher. Thanks for watching. We affix the awning through a channel built into the sun canopy. The black you can see is the case. If you check out the following video, it should hopefully make things clearer.

      Hi. To be honest we'd much prefer a sewn in ground sheet too and will most likely look into how we go forward with solving this too. An oversized groundsheet will do for now and folded slightly up the sides.🙂🐕🚙

    Is this better than the Quechua one? I am thinking of getting one for next trip, I put my dome tent up as a “shed” to give me more room in the van (have a berlingo micro camper) it’s my drive away / pitch marker!

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi used the Quechua one on the rear when we had our boot jump and loved it. We have a wee dog so the sewn in ground sheet was a real plus to stop him escaping and it was a nice snug fit too. As our new conversion goes across the back of the car, we can no longer access it through the rear, so need a side awning. This new one will fit better on the side than the Quechua. Only reason for the change and we'll miss the sewn in groundsheet.

    Hi guys, I can see your pull out awning is a Direct 4x4 but how long/wide is the awning please?

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. We went for the wider version of 2m x 2m as the smaller 1400 wide didn't provide protection to the full door. 🙂🐕🚙

    I'm guessing the Apernaz decathalon one is better for me where I need a rear extension...

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had the decathlon one when we had the Amdro boot jump and it worked exceptionally well when fitted on the rear. We'll miss the sewn in ground sheet, as it made it safe for our Blue. Think hell escape from the new awning, well there's no think about it... He will escape lol

      Hi Gill. The side awning is actually attached to a c channel in the frame of our roll out sun canopy. We made an earlier video where we discovered the channel and made some adjustments, to allow us to fit this side awning. th-cam.com/video/6dbcHhMPnx4/w-d-xo.html

    I have a question. How do you keep it so cool in the car. With my car it is 40 degrees Celsius. When it's 20 degrees outside. Greeting from Belgium.

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there..now there's you answer. We live in the North of England, rarely see 20 degrees! lol. No seriously. We have so far only winter toured, so have yet to face any warmth. We do have a couple of 12V fans and have midge/ fly screens for windows, so we should be able to get airflow through the car. When driving with Air con. 🙂🚙🐕

      @@the-other-windsorscan I ask…did you find the poles a bit too long? The gap at the bottom of the awning seems too high from the floor. I read a review where they said they cut the poles slightly to get a better draft free fit and wondering if that’s something I need to do. 😊

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi. Sorry we can't say we had a problem at the bottom. We have only used it once for an extended stay of a week with family. Its true there is a gap with it not having a sewn in ground sheet. We just used an extra wide one and took it up the sides slightly. This helped stop the drafts🤔🐕🚙
