This video has shown exactly how the Gurkha is comfortable and it owns its terrain right out of the box. Very rightly said ever vehicle has its own problems but we should not judge them for what they are not and rather focus on what they can do. This is content, content we need and content that makes sense and contributes to a larger good. Way to go . . .
Kudos to the team for making all the efforts to test the vehicles in the perfect place. Both Thar and Gurkha have advantages and disadvantages but both are equally phenomenal off-road vehicles. But what really impressed me was the two Innovas that made it in the really tough and difficult roads may be with some difficulty but they made it too. To me the Innovas were the champions 🏆 because they delivered more that what they were meat to do.
Same things i had also pointed out. Koi kisi ka baap nahi. Both are great vehicles with positives and negatives. The suspension of the Gurkha is a huge plus point. This point along with the space it offers really tilts the balance in my view. But for first time offroaders the Thar Automatic is a foolproof vehicle.
Just that if i wish to take my buddies along in a Thar, they'd be kicking me from the rear seat (or whatever space they sit in). Given the space Gurkha offers, its hands-down a better offering. The flip side as earlier highlighted and duly acknowledged by @DCV Expeditions is the articulation in Thar. Somehow a choice has to be a tough one and one will have to live by it till the age of vehicle (NCR -10 Yrs, sadly, for diesel Thar/Gurkha)
@@rishibagga224 for extended trips the Gurkha surely will be more comfortable for 4 people but then how often do u travel with 4 people. The Thar has more articulation but that same suspension set up is also less comfortable than the Gurkhas. At the end of the day one has to choose between positive and negative points in both. How often would u require the use of max articulation vis a vis ride comfort which is required a 100% of the time.
@@IndianOverlander even though thar has more articulation gurkha has manual differential locks to overcome it. Gurkha can cross obstacles which thar can using manual diff locks but what thar can do during bumpy roads? Gurkha glides over bumps. Performing stable.

one thing is certain, Gurkha a less travel on suspension which is hindrance some times but not really! It has got the wizard to make it through it, You can take Gurkha to extreme remote location and can run on contaminated HSD. Without bothering about DPF Or ultra blue or whatever. With atmost comfort.
Dinesh, i keep swinging between Gurkha , Yes Or No :-) , but i believe by the time your trip ends, i would have definitely made up my mind. Have a safe journey and i hope all drivers enjoy the trip too.
Go for Thar and upgrade with ARC Suspension for 50K, it would resolve Thar's crashing in the undulations problem and in every aspect Thar would become better ! Dinesh has also done that already ! Waiting for a detailed review on the ARC Suspension upgrade too, but his initial review is that the ride quality has increased a lot after the suspension upgrade !
I was eager to see Thar and Gurkha perform in Himalayas. Gurkha is attacking the kacha roads with zest. Whereas Thar is little cautious not sure if it's due to suspension difference.

Awesome ! Your Thar is loaded hence will bottom out early in addition to chassis flex which is more in Thar compared to Gurkha. In that sense Thar has more offroad suitable suspension, i see only manual diff lock where gurkha has advantage.
You forgot metal body, factory installed snorkel, diff locker both front and rear, not much issue with cold start. Thar has engine,suspension flex and interior finish advantage.

I have been traveling in Force motors vehicles since 25+ years (all except Gurkha). I have always been surprised about its superb suspension and bulletproof smooth engine. People are only now discovering its suspension. Sad but true, this is how the market operates. I noticed the same difference 30 years back between Ambassador and Maruti800 back in 90s. The ambassador had crossed a very bad road and waited 30 minutes on the other side for the Maruti800 to arrive.

DPF is manageable if you drive little harder than you normally do, like keeping one gear low to keep the rpm high. DEF errors although are vague mostly, so need not to worry much about DEF but yes if DPF clogs, you are stuck as vehicle will go into limp mode.

Gurkha may not have better articulation but that could be an advantage as well. Look how It glides through off road while others are becoming tomato sauce inside. Basically thats 99% of entire expedition.

Due more articulation on Thar it has more stroke of suspension so it bottoms out on bumps. And Opposite to it is Gurkha, less articulation, less and stiff suspension so no bottoming

after knowing the difference I would still love to go with THAR, because THAR has many plus point except few minus point but that is digestible. Just because GURKHA suspension is performing better on these road alone this can not be a selling point. THAR road presence, engine performance and other inside cabin features all these thing making it usable for city and for bad roads but I cant find this image for GURKHA. That's why My Love is for THAR :)
Sir, I know both cars are very good in their respective areas but still which car will you suggest for the first timers (offroad) as generally most of the people don't buy two off- roaders. ?
If you want off road car with good road presence, go for thar. If you want a car that you will use daily, a car that can handle bad roads properly, a car that you will use on highways beside off roads then go for Gurkha. Because as per mer my personal experience, in off road, Thar is quiet hassle free with it's better articulation and auto diff lock, but on highways Gurkha is handles bad patches on daily commute better, and it's ride quality is more comfortable compared to Thar. Though you have huge range of modification options for Thar according to your requirement.
Suspension for offroad is better in thar due to high amount of articulation but It has bouncy ride and thar is fool proof due to elecronic diff lock and also has automatic which will help in offroad for a first timer who can't control clutch brake and accelerator pedal simultaneously so thar is better for fun and Gurkha is a professional tool having high capabilities but having disadvantages as low articulation but manual diffs are useful to a person who knows to use it
If you're a first time 100% only Gurkha. Reason? You will actually have to learn off roading concepts and skills. Aise hi mu utha ke off road off road karna is not safe. Either you'll get stuck, or dead if the terrain is punishing. Driving on village roads and potholes in not off roading. So get Gurkha, learn off roading concepts, learn how to drive it in its modes and when you use what diff lock. Then you'll have inase amounts of fun.

Gurkha bahut acchi hai, kabhi chance mile toh subaru AWD chalake dekhna maja ajayega. Aur Audi quattro all road to chalake dekhna bahut powerful hai.😊
But, one thing is for sure. Nothing can beat the classic Body-On-Frame Design.
I want to know from Dinesh how bad or cumbersome is DPF and issue...

4*2 with rear diff locks

Neither. Well depends on where you'll go with car. Ideally 4xN with front rear diff locks is the complete option. Manual or auto.
