It is great that you take the time to show us that there is more to it than just baiting and hauling! Give us an appreciation of what it takes to get a quality meal to the plate! Thank you.
Sent from my iPad Hello you guys I really Enjoy your videos and just wanted to let you know that and of course we’re all looking forward to see you go fishing with your new boat and we’re all really happy that you and your family are all doing so well. I am myself on the other side. I am unfortunately having a lot to deal with from a health standpoint. I unfortunately had to have a liver transplant and because of the transplant and the medication that I have to take I don’t have an immune system anymore so I have to stay at home and stay away from people whether they are family or not which is extremely unfortunate. And my wife to whom I’ve been married to Notruf for almost 28 years has died which makes life pretty unbearable, but until my time comes, we will do our best to keep our heads up and what really helps me is watching your success in your videos and I also want to say you have done a terrific job with your boat that you and your family have worked so hard making it something you can be truly happy with you’ve done a real good job. You can be very Satisfied with yourselves Keep up the good work. Take care and God bless and May your lives be full of bountiful Blessings from the sea. Take care my friends..😉😊👋 P.S. 🗣️Good fishing..! 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟 With friendly greetings Douglas, Edward Leslie
Hi, Douglas. Sorry to hear about your health struggles and about the loss of your wife. I'm glad our videos can bring you some joy and take your mind to a different place. We truly appreciate you following along with us and taking the time to share. Best wishes and blessings to you.
Hello , I am a great fan of your videos especial of the videos where you are catching fish. I think I have see them all. Sorry for my bad English I am German.
I like the old school hydraulics, any dcv's with solenoids don't belong on a f/v. Nothing but trouble. I agree with your sentiment on steel jic crimp fitting also, they will last as long as the hose with some good paint on them.
I really like the explanation on the different safety devices on your fishing vessel. I did not know a lot of that. I'd love to go on a short trip with you. I bet you get that all the time
Thank you for all the wonderful content I love to see a family owned and run fishing company and could use do a video of the process of the catch after it leaves the boat please 😊
I really liked how you took the time to explain about how the emergency raft works and the EPERB. Now lets see you practice what you preach about dawning the survival suit. I know I have had to learn that myself before with a friend of mine who was a chief in the coast guard. I think that would make get content for some of the viewers out here.😊 Great work as always, she looks just about ready to set out for the happy fishing grounds.😊
This is awesome you guys! The meticulous months you spent getting her seaworthy goes to show you how much your thought process turned this into an incredible fishing vessel! You guys are AWESOME AND AMAZING!!!
All the hard work really as paid off... boat looks awesome guys . Can't wait to see the new boat in action, with dad driving and Matty being Matty, pretty sure you' ll catch your quota in record time... Hope so.
Outstanding guys, thanks for behind the scenes, a tour of Emerald isle as you are putting it to writes, and looking forward to the new adventures going forward, best regards from the North East Coast UK. John
Good morn ya all thank you verry muchfor taking us along onyoure boat stuff fishing refitting all ofit im homesick as hell forthebig blue sea i should be up there too fishin to my hearts content i shure miss it was raised on a fishing boat myself outta port angeles wash but dad passed in 77 mom moved us to cali n ive been stuck here eversince
As always thank you for video appreciate it. As always a great video and I do learn a lot about boats and I don't even own a boat lol I owned a few City lakes not the ocean lol but anyways man appreciate you all taking the time to record everything for us enjoy take us on your journey. Thank you have an awesome weekend
0:33 Looks like when the braided hose fills with oil, the constant vibration from the engine may cause fatigue in the attached piping. I think a mount might be needed at the wall to braided hose. I might be wrong.
I suppose you will need some of these tools on board in case of emergency , to fabricate repair something on the spot so you dont need to find a harbor to return to fix it and go out again . Plus i am hopping for a live stream the first time you take it out for fishing !
Yep, we kept a ton of tools and supplies on board. Pays to be prepared for anything. Turns out almost everything worked out perfectly, just a few very small changes and tasks.
Actually we don't mind emerald Island 100%. Because that just means y'all's going to be safe out there also and we don't mind seeing you guys make a boat look even better or vessel I mean we don't have a problem with you guys working on it us watching you we know fishing's coming you got seasons and we understand that just same as here or certain seasons that you can catch and certain seasons you can't here in the lower 48 as y'all say lol.but keep the work videos coming I got one don't mind at all
On the Fishtail you are able to just hose it down to clean up after running set. With the raised floor and slots, how will you be able to thoroughly wash down the deck? Won’t there be residual slime or blood under your raised floor that will stink after time.
Really like looking over your shoulder at you working down your list of all the little things that need to be completed and checked off your to do list. Your 1 hour video ended real quick, over too soon the end surprised me. That means you produced a good video.
Your registration and permitting is similar to the uk,basically bureaucracy likes to get its hands on ya hard earned money, always found the hardest part of refitting a boat was clearing all the crap up afterwards ,lol
Wish I could get "Fired up", but there isn't a lot to get fired up about here in the good old Divided Kingdom (ex UK). Excellent video guys when is our first trip I've got my buoyancy aid ready to put on?
Lol I do this quite often what y'all should know. Okay have you decided where to put the camera to get the best angle cuz y'all have it perfectly on the fish tail.i think y'all have to move it around until you find the right spot.but just wondering if y'all have thought about it
One question ,how are you going to wash all the fish blood ,slime and debri out from under you elevated deck so it doesn't smell. The boat looks great, what a change from when you first brought her home. You guys are doing a top notch job with all the repairs and improvements. This boat is going to be a fishing machine that is going to give you years of service. Matt's kids will probably be fishing this boat someday.
We have a 1 1/2" washdown hose that moves quite some volume of water. Later we'll plumb in a 2" from our actual crab pump. As long as we rinse it well it'll stay relatively clean underneath.
For the hydraulics? Engine room is a good place. Then there is a reason to run down there and check on things. We don't swap back and forth during the day much, only when we anchor for the nite, so we are in the habit of switching it in the evening after we drop the hook and shutdown.
It's all looking so good I can't wait to she her in action also got a question are yall going to re insulate the sealing in the main room it will probably quite things down a lot from the outside 😊 also another question what size is the bunk behind the dinette where the captain sleeps 💤 also do yall have a mailing address where yall get packages?😊
Yes, we will get some insulation on the cabin ceiling soon. Also the walls, as there is little to none and winter is creeping in. At some point the engine room ceiling and forward bulkhead will get soundproofing and that will help cut the noise down. Captain's bunk is 6' foot long and 2- 2 1/2" wide. I will need to get better measurement. At any rate it is comfy. We get USPS mail at PO Box 1970 Kodiak, Ak. 99615. Thanks Phil!
I have a question I don't think anybody's ever asked if they have I just missed it how often does the Coast guard board you guys to check your boat and check your license your permits Make sure you're doing everything legal but is it the Coast guard that does all that or is there somebody else but how often hasn't happened to you does it happen every year
We don't get boarded very often by the USCG. Maybe every two or three years. They focus on safty equiptment and make sure your documentation is current. If you have fish onboard they will ask your target speciaes and may look at permits in the case of halibut or sablefish. The Alaska State Troopers also do enforcement and will check vessel registration, douumentation and permits. We see these folks more often, sometimes several times a year. Both agencies are incredibly professional and respectful and we are more than happy to have them onboard to check on us and also have them out and about keeping everyone safe!
It is great that you take the time to show us that there is more to it than just baiting and hauling! Give us an appreciation of what it takes to get a quality meal to the plate! Thank you.

Awesome!!!
The projects are every bit as entertaining to watch as the fishing!
Good informational video. There are so many items you guys have to keep up with. Dad certainly knows his stuff.
Great idea on the wind sheald.
It makes hauling into wind pretty nice, that's for sure!
Looking forward to seeing y'all fishing her!
Great stuff! Thanks guys from NW Iowa!!

Yo saque el titulin y el de litoral buenas tardes desde las islas canarias
Do you want/need any view portals through the port and starboard wind walls?
Yes! We'll add some Lexan windows on both sides. No plans to sell the Fish Tale. We have halibut quota currently tied to her.
When is the first fishing video I can't wait.
Thanks from la crosse Wisconsin

When are you going to show the home comforts ? Living space, bunks, galley, Starlink, TV, etc.
And do you have cctv covering the deck from the helm ?
Great idea! I'll bring you all around for the "cleaned up tour" next time. We plan to add an on-deck camera in the near future.
Well done guys, when is the first trip??

@@mathewjaycox843 Lots of water. It flushes everything off the deck and through the scuppers. A good blast with bleach solution to keep the bugs away.

@@robertgiguere7137 Thank you Robert! Glad you enjoyed it. Still minor things to wrap up, but we are fishing the EI now.
Thoughts about a window in the wind wall?
Absolutely! Definitely will put some in.

Oh yeah there is a difference between a survival suit and a mustang suit for some random knowledge.😊
How are the permits for processing the fish on board the boat coming along?
What are you going to do with the FishTail once you get the Emerald Isle going?
I think the magnitude of the whole project seemed overwhelming, it wasn't for you guys. Involuntary smile with fist pumps, well done to say the least.
One question ,how are you going to wash all the fish blood ,slime and debri out from under you elevated deck so it doesn't smell.

Are you going to sale the Fishtail?
Perhaps this has been asked. But with the spray walls, how do you quickly access the bow?
There is a door, forward starboard side right at the helm. Acually about three feet forward of the lifering in the thumbnail. 😁
Would it be better to put the selector switch above works more accessible?
